Ray, Bob & Nikko, thanx for the nice wordage. As they say, necessity is somebody's mother. The fun part was making 4 identical brackets. I'm working on the front axle and spindles. Pics soon. -

The smaller the spring, the bigger the pain. It's a law of psychics, or is it physics? As for the steering wheel center, I'm good either way. Then again, a fuel or magneto kill switch might look nice above it. Especially since you declared the interior buttoned up. -
Mistakes, smishtakes. It's all good from my point of view Dave. And Tim was right. You needed to show us those venturi's in the carb because we would have had a hard time believing him otherwise. Sheesh, even on a bad day you have great results. Now go bang your head against a wall to recalibrate your cerebral cortex and get back to it. Don't ya' just wanna kiss the folks that came up with carbon fiber?

She's a beauty Ray. Another fine addition to an already awesome collection.

NOMAD WHEELSTANDER - Belated Christmas - 1/13/16
Nytrozilla replied to Nytrozilla's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Let me start out with an apology for my inability to fix the pictures in the display case post. I know we're awaiting some long promised update, but this is getting old. Pictures are the main reason for posting builds and it should be the one thing that works right. Hopefully soon........... I got the leaf springs at 90% ready. Still need to do the leaf retainer clips, then figure out what I'm going to use for axles. I guess I've got some U-Bolts to make with some mounting plates too. I saw one that used wire for the U-Bolts, then the nuts self threaded themselves into the soft wire. See ya then. Enjoy the pics if they show up....... -

And then Nytrozilla wrote: "Thankfully, the "Ladies Who Temporarily Loved Joe" club has disbanded and it's membership is dispersed throughout this great nation." Good thing too because they would have freaked when they heard my plans to use the roof tiles as asphalt in a drag strip diorama. -
You two have a great time and try not to show off. Oh, wait, we're model builders. Never mind.......... Dave, that looks as real as real can be, assembled or not.

Brad, I just tried and it said you can't receive messages. Call Chris and he can give you my email and cell phone. Tell him the authorisation password is BA NA NA. -

Thanks everybody. Well, I did a stupid, then fixed it. My main problem was, I thought I was making brackets out of my thickest metal, but it was the thinnest. I forgot I had bought a cookie sheet and cut it up to add to my "metal file." Waaaay too thin for a bracket that size. Now I've made new ones from the roof flashing and they make me very happy. Tomorrow I'll drill out the leaf springs and get them assembled. After that, front and rear axles. -

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's losing it over your skills. Truth be known, Chris was half crazy before you got to him. Besides, after you tutor him, I'm next. The penny was given to Tim for his first tooth. He hasn't spent it to this day. Then again, there's a teeny tiny chance I made that up. -

Bring it on Brad. What I have now is roof flashing. It's either .03 or .05. I'm thinking .03. Easily bent while being worked. Hi Buddy Bro Art. I'm glad to be back at it too. Feels REALLY good. As it should. I'm just checking in. I'm headed back to the hobby room now. Talk to y'all again real soon. -

Danno, Ray and Bob, thanks for staying faithful. Well, to this build anyways. Aside from another rampaging bout of depression, here's what's been slowing me up. I wasn't happy with the body hinge point when I tried to add mounting holes for the front leaf springs. Suddenly the strength of the bracket came into question. I decided to go with individual frame mounted brackets. My first attempt was metal, but it was too thin and my supply of sheet metal is in drastic need of variety. I put one to good use as a template. Once I got the basic shape down, I bolted all four pieces together so that all of the parts would be the same during final sanding and drilling. If this works, I'll have the front springs done later today. Just feeling a little guilty about the absence. Sorry. -

That looks like the work of a mad man. Yet, it all makes sense. And beautifully so. Love the pedal Tim. Wowza !! Can't wait to see the front end. I know you're close. -
No model room...what to do.

Like racing, it all comes to how you approach the whole deal. I've done TV trays, a corner on the kitchen table, graduated to a writing desk then a big boy desk and so on. Now that the tide has turned in my direction, I did this: P.S. Sorry for the order of the pics. The second and third are the before pics. The first and last are the after. -

For my Christmas wish list, I want this site to get a Cool Model Alert app. I plug in my preferences and people, and I get an email when a totally wicked outa sight build hits the interweb. That's a brilliantly thought out concept and skillfully executed too Doc. -
Now THAT is determination at it's most impressive Brother Chris. You've just given me the motivation I needed to get back on the Nomad. I've been putting off my body mods, but as soon as I square away the leaf springs, I'm all over that. Thanks for the inspiration pal.

Kewl Tim, take credit for making me insane. I'll just have a hard time proving it's your fault. You know, with my history and such........
