The Model Master's bottled Clear will yellow over time. I find it easier to use either Tamiya's TS-13 or the stuff I like to use over decals is Floquil Crystal Cote. Both of these paints are far superior over Model Master's Clear.

Got the chassis completed. Fairly easy to put together. Although some issues trying to get the wheels on to the brake assembly. Fujimi did a really tight tolerancing on the kit so paint buildup is a problem. Had to redrill out several of the mounting holes to get get stuff to fit better. Also the front wheel assembly is very fragile. Found out the hard way. Broke the spindle while mounting the rims to the chassis. Chassis painted and all components on the chassis. Area to watch out for...when mounting the tires. Do not use too much pressure as you can break the mounting points off. This is after I fixed the problem. The break happened at the top of the spindle.

Hi Hossain, I don't know of any companies that are making window mask for it. But it was pretty easy to mask the windows out. There's a pretty big step between where the window is supposed to be painted black and where it is supposed to be clear. It's fairly easy to cut the tape to make it work. Also if you need the extra set of decals, I'm not using the set for the B car. Just let me know and I can get it out to you. I'm hoping at some point somebody does some after market decals. Maybe markings of the Racers' Group Cars (Kevin Buckler's team). Here's a picture of my already painted windows. Extremely tight window fit to the body! Watch out for paint buildup.

The kit manufacturer is Fujimi. These kits are sold out as far as I know. But someone mentioned on another thread that they were producing just the plain white version of the kit. Hopefully someone will make some aftermarket decals. Got a little more work done. Had some issues with trying to paint the body. Been having a lot of fisheyes happening. Partly because of the weather which is really bad right now. So the body is being stripped now and waiting for primer and paint. Exhaust was painted with different shades of Alclad. The chassis was painted with Duplicolor White and Tamiya's Semi-gloss white. Engine was painted with Tamiya's TS-17 with a dull coat. Wingmounts were stripped of the chrome and painted with Alclad Aluminum. Fire bottle was painted with TS-8. Seat was painted with XF-69 and then dull coated. The back of it was painted with TS-29.

Thanks for everyone's comments. I only wish Tamiya would do a 1/12 version of this kit. As for the decal issues, it was mainly trying to get them to lay down around the corners. A lot of setting solution and solvent and patience. The decals are a lot better than the first issue of the kit.

Just started working on the Fujimi 911 GT3. I'm not going to be doing the decaled car that is on the box. I'm going to be doing a car that comes from the factory. Which is overall white with some black highlights. Looks like it's going to be a fairly straight forward kit. Not a lot of clean up needing to be done so it should go fast. Here's a picture of several small parts that I've finished. Chrome parts were stripped and painted with Alclad.

Finished this last week. It's the reissue of Tamiya's Porsche 935-78 (also known as Moby Dick). One of my all time favorite Porsche bodies. This car led to the development of a lot of privateer teams modifying their 935's. Paints used were Scale Finishes White, and a combination of Tamiya's Acrylic and TS line of paint. I used the Studio 27 photoetch to add details. Fairly easy build. A lot of injector marks and seams needed to be filled in. But the kit still holds up to the newer kits that are out there. The only real issue I had was trying to get the decals to lie down. Feel free to comment.

If it's one of those constant run compressors, you can rebuild them. But it's usually cheaper to buy a cheap nail gun air compressor.

Hope you can still get it. As far as I know, all the sources that I go to are sold out.

I live in Brookings/Harbor and Crescent City is about 30 miles to the south. Both ports were hit pretty severely. I live about 2 miles up the Chetco River and when the tsunami hit, the river rose about 8 feet. Here's a link to the pictures I took of the harbor the morning after the tsunami. http://s225.photobucket.com/albums/dd91/Howden/Brookings%20OR%20Tsunami/

Curt, I might have another set. I'll take a look. If needed, let me know. I know I bought 3 when I did my kit. I just need to figure out where I put them.

Picked this up from MS Hobbies at a IPMS show this past weekend. Fujimi has two kits available...the Type A and the Type B. The only difference being the decals in the kit. Fujimi has incorrectly called this a GT3R and it's really a GT3R Cup Car. Excellently molded kit. Not the typical Fujimi race car. The interior is correct for a race version unlike their usual of taking a street car and turning it into a race car. The kit would be a good starting point to convert to a GT2 but the whole front of the car would have to be reworked as well as the rear engine intake. Would be nice to someone come out with a photoetch set and different decals. The Racers Group Porsches would be a good car to start with. Here's what's in the box. Decals are a little flashy for me. I'm an Anime fan, but not on race cars. Will have this in the Workbench Section when I finish a couple of other kits.

Model Cars Magazine on Youtube?
Brendan replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jairus shot this right at the end of the show when people started packing up. He was rushing trying to get all of them. -
Can't wait to see this build. I built the Lance Sellers kit and used the Indycal's decals on it. You might need to get two sets to double up since the yellow is pretty light.

Thanks for everyone's comments. I'm just now started cleaning up the Aston which is almost as bad for white metal parts. And I'm hoping it's going to turn out just as well.

The development was a collaboration of about ten years of the Nissan race teams. This was the final car they developed. It was on the track in '93.

Just finished this up last night. The kit is from Studio 27. Very nicely cast kit; only downside was a lot of white metal that had to be filled in to get rid of the imperfections. Paints used were Tamiya's TS-26, TS-8 and TS-29 and Scale Finishes Nissan GTP Blue. I have to give him a special thanks for mixing up this paint for me. All paints were airbrushed. I did have to add the antennas and roof light to correct the parts that were left out on the body. I also added some wires and seat belts to the interior of the cockpit. Little history on the car: The car did not ever participate in a race in this configuration. It was only tested. The people who drove the car really liked the chassis and the way the car handled. But the lack of horse power coming from the V-12 ultimately was the downfall to the car since it could not keep pace with the older cars. The car did find life as an open coupe Ferrari that ran only one race. The Japanese version did one race in Japan and did not do well. I decided to build this car because I thought it was a very neat looking car design. And the technology that they used to create this car helped in the development of a lot of the later sports cars. Feel free to comment.

Thanks for everyone's comments. The kit should be complete and in the Underglass Section in the next couple of days. Rear wing together. Took me quite a long time to actually get it together since the smaller wing element needed to be moved from where the pins were. But it turned out nice in the end. Body fits really nicely to the chassis. Tight fit with the front wheels though. Had to shave down the sides of the air intake a little to get it to fit to the body (paint buildup). Thanks for following along. Probably will be starting on an Aston Martin Lola in the next couple of weeks. It should be fun.

Started to get on the decals. Wasn't a whole lot of decals but they were a pain to put on. the issue I ran into is the decals were extremely thick and not wanting to settle around curves. Had some small issues with the Nissan decal on the rear wing since the white started flaking off. It was like the ink didn't set properly to the film when they made them. Used some Tamiya Acrylic White to touch it up. The side chevron decals took me about 3 hours to lay one down. Used a lot of decal solvent and setting solution to get it to lay down properly. The one thing I was worried about happened But it's not very noticeable. When I painted the rear wings, they matched the red in the decal. But when I put the decal onto the model, it doesn't match any more. And I had already put the decals onto the wing before I noticed it. It's not a big difference, but it's enough to bug me. All the decals on and awaiting a clear coat. Still need to paint the headlight buckets and attach some small marker lights onto the roof. And then it should be done.

Yes, the body was airbrushed. I'm not a big fan of spray paints. You don't get the control like you do with an airbrush on how much paint you can put down.

Gregg, just a reminder. Pack your camera in your carryon bag. Remember what happened last time! Glad to hear about so many people coming. I believe I'm working in the ticket booth for the 9:30 shift. You can drop by and say "hello". I'll have some models brought down as well.

If you're using Tamiya's Basic Putty, what I have found useful is to thin it out with some lacquer thinner. It makes it easier to fill in the smaller scratches. You might want to give it a try.

Thanks to Scale Finishes, he was able to match the blue for me. Got the body taped up. Took me a little while to do. Blue sprayed on and tape waiting to come off. Had a little bleed through on the blue in a few spots but not too bad. Wings painted with Tamiya TS-8 (airbrushed). Next step is to clear and get on the decals. The decals should go rather quickly since I think there's only 8 to put on.
-
Got the white primer on the car. Rear wing will be painted Tamiya's TS-8. Tamiya's TS-26 (airbrushed on). Waiting to be taped up to get the Scale Finishes Blue on. Wing end plates will be painted blue as well.

Yes, the car is definitely different. The Mulsanne's Corner has a good interview with Johnny O'Connor who is talking about testing the car. Here's some links to Mulsanne's Corner. If you click on the pictures, they'll get you to more information. http://www.mulsannescorner.com/nissanp35.html O'Connor's Interview http://www.mulsannescorner.com/nissanp35oconnell.html
