  1. Big fleets bought 1000's of these back in the day. I expect to see a Bell Telephone, Sears Roebuck or U Haul version!
  2. No problem, the engine paint scheme on '57 thru '65 heavy duty Ford trucks is confusing, not many color photos of original engines out there. In general, most all had black blocks, with red, silver or gold valve covers.
  3. Blue up to '75 at least. Like the Pete 359, hard to pin point year model on the '70+ L series.
  4. Here is evidence of white being used from a Peterbilt brochure dated 2-74. Just consider your wrecker a post '75, its very difficult to pin point a date on large window '73-'87 359 Petes.
  5. May or may not be common knowledge, but 1967 appears to be the first year for the real wide hood 359. The front radiator was increased to 1444 sq. in. from the standard 1050 sq. in version. Looks like we got most of this with the kit, but the 1676 CAT? IMO, the box art on the original kit appears to be a artist rendition of a real photo at the Pete plant in Newark Ca. Maybe Tim would know.
  6. I agree, wheelbase is very short. It seems most AMT dual drive tractors have shorter east coast wheelbases. I would recommend swapping out the cast spokes for budd style wheels also.
  7. Wow, looks great. We really need this in 1/25 scale with a chrome grill! Any casters listening?
  8. Nice build and paint scheme. The L 700 medium duty frame is a perfect doner.
  9. How about a Ford Blue Cummins?
  10. '64 thru '78 the FT 330 361 391 family,
  11. Found this interesting ad.
  12. Dagenham 330 112 HP replaced by the higher cube 363 128HP but both engines looked very similar.
  13. HP varied between 175 non turbo to 250 turbo. Most 3208's were in the 210-225 range.
  14. This is another very authentic '71 F 250, this time 2WD.
  15. This is an odd one, a four banger Detroit installed in a C series. Back in the day, there were special order jobs from the factory or conversion packages offered by truck dealers or repair shops.
  16. 262 Big Six, used from '61-'64, in C 550- C 600's.
  17. Cummins C 160, similar to C 180 used from '65-'69
  18. Some call it the heavy duty version of the Lincoln motor, was used in '57 thru '63 C 750 and C 800's.
  19. Great idea, a wrecker build will be a stand out in any collection. It looks like your starting out with the most accurate parts too. The 1 ton wheels and wrecker body look very realistic. Is the wrecker body still available from MCRC? I can't seem to find it offered. Or is this another great item that came and went and no longer readily available.
  20. The Shell tanker appears to be a '58 thru '60, very similar to this 1/87 Heljan kit. What's nice about the AMT kit is it can be back dated to this period without any body work, just a few mods to the headlights, door emblems and mirror design.
  21. Good suggestion, thanks, that is the straight body wrecker, not the curved one on the GMC. Is the midnight cowboy wrecker body the correct length for a 1 ton? It seems a little short or it may be my eyes.
  22. Me too, I always thought the '70 grill was one of the best. Chevy must have liked it too, they used a very similar egg crate on '71 pickups. How about an F 350 with a correct period wrecker body?. This would be a winner for Moebuis!
  23. The Moebius F 100 is primarily the kit that got me back into modeling again, as well new resin truck cab offerings and re issues of large trucks. A benefit of the reissued trucks is the chassis can be pirated for older resin cabs that are offered, which boasts sales for resin casters as well. Bottom line, money talks, if the sales for these new Moebius pickups kits are a major success, which I think they are, they will be scrambling to do more never done before oldies!
