  1. Super clean '68 F 100 longbed DeKerry, thanks for posting. Great detailed shots. Yes, firewalls on '67-'72 pickups are body color, not black. Also, Ford had an interesting way of contrasting interior colors. If truck is medium or lighter blue, the dash, steering column and door panels are darker blue. Same goes for reds and greens. White trucks came in a different variety of interior colors.
  2. Great idea for a build! Those Ford kits take a lot of research to get right. Not only did the grills change, the emblem location and trim moldings varied through the '73-'79 run, not to mention getting the correct wheelbase set up for F 100 thru F 250s. Just curious, is there an easy way to remove the top mouldings from the body?
  3. X2! Now I can build a camper special. Thanks again for offering these Kris.
  4. Here is a '63 Ford with the older style bed ( correct optional bed for '63 ) Again, this would require the MCR cab, the bed is available in resin listed for '57-'60 pickups http://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-to-59-ford-pick-up-6ft-bed-/232334438285?hash=item3618362f8d:g:UsYAAOSw44BYE5dW .
  5. The Ford stepside requires a separate cab, since amt choose to offer the unibody style only of the '61-'63 pickup. Thanks to MCR , the separate cab is available. http://www.motorcityresincasters.com/63F100.htm The stepside bed can be pirated from the easily available 53 Ford F 100 amt kit. The medium duty Chevy C 50-60-80 series cab was available from Modelhaus , but they went out of business a few years ago. I built the M 80 version ( M stands for tandem, C single axle ) about 10 years ago with the Louisville Dump body. It was an excellent complete kit, hopefully it will be re introduced again. The 60 Chevy stepside can easily be built from the easily available amt 60 fleetside kit with the stepside bed pirated from a easily available '65 Chevy revell stepside kit.
  6. Mock up photos look great. The high stance of a 4x4 with the '67-'72 body design is a winner!
  7. Doing some research on the C series frames and it appears the kits frame is the factory 111" in 1 to 1. The shorter factory frame was the 99", as shown in photo. Longer frames were the 135 and 153 and 173
  8. Had some problems adding to the post, gave up on the editing. Here it goes, IMO, disc wheels just look better, they have a sleek look and have a flow, spoke wheels look ruff and ancient, they remind me of conestoga wagons and model T's.
  9. The '60 283 would be fine for a 1 ton wrecker. Here's an older build with one installed in a '64 C 30 with newer wrecker body. Correct era 18" were used off a 50's Chevy 1 ton.
  10. Great news, been waiting a long time for the '65-'66 Ford 8' styleside, as well as the divorced cab design that will be necessary, a big improvement in build possibilities over the old one piece '61-'63 unibody kit. The '65-'66 frame is practically indentical to the '67-'72 frame. Needless to say, I will be purchasing several.
  11. Outstanding build, very inspirational. Painting the Dayton wheels was a great choice.
  12. How are the 3D spoke wheels coming along KJ? They look very realistic, I like the robust Rockwell 23K rear axle hub on your wheels. It would be a great improvement over the feeble light duty spokes AMT offered. Here is a side view of these type of wheels vs. disc
  13. Interesting, IMO, AMT management probably didn't want to venture in large truck models at all, any make or any configuration. During this time as well, period pickup truck models were not big on their priorty list also.
  14. Okay, great, another reissue of an old kit, but, why doesn't AMT offer a narrow nose option this time around? Looks like an opportunity for the aftermarket resin people.
  15. I am a fan of freightliners, but not the early 70's version AMT chose to offer. If someone comes out with a nice mid 60's resin cab, I'll pull the trigger.
  16. Wow, big thanks for your excellent work creating these pieces. Wish I would have purchase more back then.
  17. You have earned your Ph.D in Used Truckology.
  18. A message to the "Kats" , the Kenworth Challenger mixer and the Ford Garwood trash compacter. The later requires the Kats to start from scratch again.
  19. Yes, I purchased on of these from MCRC, they are great to deal with and offer excellent products. We are really fortunate to have people in the hobby who are filling the large void left by the big model companies. With the Moebuis '71 Ford longbed and Scenes Unlimited dually wheels, your set for this photo to become a reality!
  20. Okay, its been around 10 years since this thread first appeared, but does this problem still exist? Can I readily purchase the standard 8' bed for the '73-'79 Ford Styleside? Please post link to purchase page if so. I've been wanting this bed back in the mid 70's, thinking AMT would change the bed in re issues, but, nope, just gingerbread changes with the same old body. Is there enough interest to make it worth while? I purchased the period Chevy longbeds when they were offered, and will do the same when the Ford bed is offered. It appears blue oval could not come thru on this
  21. NIce build, it does get frustrating at times when you discover many versions of pickups were simply not done, you literally have to create them on your own from the few similar kits that were offered. I like the subject, a base model without all the fancy trim, moldings and custom wheels.
  22. Got the 4 hole dually and 8 lug steel sets, outstanding work. Here is a shot of the '67-'72 F-100 hubcap I was interested in ( deluxe were stainless, base was painted silver). IMO, these would make the perfect additions to the popular Moebius kits that came with F 250 hubcaps.
  23. Modelhaus offered the GMC conversion parts when I bought my pieces about 10 years ago. I'm not sure if there still in business, I heard it closed, about a year or 2 ago, but might have been bought out by another person. Here are my conversion pieces in use on the '60 Flatbed. With a simple hood change the flatbed can become a '62 or '63. The '60-'65 GMC grill has rounded letters, the '66 GMC grill has block letters ( chrome grill in photo). Modelhaus offered the '60-'61 GMC hood and turn signals, '62-'66 hood and turn signals, '60-'65 grill, '66 grill and '60-'66 tailgate insert. The GMC dashboards and hubcaps has never been offered to my knowledge.
  24. Or did anyone have any success purchasing one from Plaskit recently? Is the L 9000 conversion readily available for purchase on an up and running site, or is it a private email or phone call deal only?
