  1. To be honest, I just grateful to get anything in the forgotten '67 thru '72 era. Just getting a normal wheelbase 8' or 6 1/2' Styleside in a 70's Ford pickup is a first! Thankyou Mobius! I personally like the 8' longbeds, they can be transformed into beefier F 250's as well.
  2. I'm digging the snow plow idea. The 7.50-16 tires look great Danny, thanks for offering them!
  3. Incredible job! Excellent colors for cab frame and wheels. These long nose Petes are always great builds.
  4. Looks great. Nice color contrasts. These city trucks were very popular in the day all over the country, outselling all the competition by wide margins year after year.
  5. I agree, what we need is the period skinny and tall bias mud and snow 7.00-15 or 6.50-16 . I'll go for the base look, painted grill and wheels, no chrome!
  6. I believe the AMT Ford tractor kit is based on the 111" wheelbase. Many of these city tractors were ordered with the shorter 99" wheelbase. My next build will have a shorter frame. Also, this AMT kit has strange undersize rear axle hubs for a real life 22k or 23K rear axle. I recommend larger rear hubs.
  7. I agree, the grill is a little too bulky. Compare the Revell grille to the Danbury MInt '66 or similar knock offs. Real life 1:1 headlights are not directly below turn signals, they are out wider.
  8. Glad you found this truck inspiring Dave, bringing back memories, that's what its all about. I'm sure Moebius has done well with the series, I want it to get even better. I would like to see a nice 4x4 chassis too ( 1/2 or 3/4 ton), 4 speed granny transmission, 16" stock wheels on period mud and snows and western type mirrors. I'm sick of the fat oversize tires and mag wheels that plague practically every 4x4 kit ever made. Lets get serious on this one.
  9. I'm thinking '67 longbed 4x4.
  10. Excellent job! Very realistic looking. Light on the chrome, just the way I like em.
  11. Can't believe nobody mentioned "Violent Road". I guess I march to a beat of a different drummer.
  12. These style trucks had a long production run, 1960 to around 1980, but for some reason, never as popular as the Ford. But, IMO, worthy of a 1/25 scale resin offering,
  13. Great job! The details on the period steel Budd wheels look very authentic.
  14. Amt offered the very successful Ford tilt cab from the very beginning, but why did they hold back on the Chevy or GMC equivalent? I would really like to see this one.
  15. The California Hauler cab will date back to 1961, most obvious sign is no rain gutter above the windshield. 1954 thru 1960 cabs used the rain gutter and thicker windshield gaskets.
  16. You mean trucks that are built for aerodynamics and fuel efficiency and will shortly be self driving? No thanks, I want old pre 70's American iron, something that I will never see from Italeri.
  17. Nice to see the "clean condition" build for this series truck, versus the "rusty beater".
  18. The bigger tires on AMT trucks were 22", but the majority of AMT kits used the 20" tires. All these tires were tube type ( the most common tire on large trucks back in the day)
  19. IMO, mid 60's styling is hard to beat, not only for Freightliner, but practically every big rig manufacturer in the US. Sure wish AMT selling large truck kits in the mid 60's instead of the early 70's.
  20. X2! I believe there is a significant market for an earlier resin version cab too, mid 60's would be perfect. The Freightliner has the same problem as the California Hauler, AMT introduced these kits 5 years too late. Luckily, the less creative builders were given the narrow nose conversion by the good visionary people in the hobby.
  21. It would be nice to have a heavier duty bias ply cross rib type or road lug type tire in 10.20 for all those hundreds of amt kits that came only with the highway treads.
  22. Nice stock build. I prefer the small back window cab over the optional large back window used in most 60-66 kits ( IMO an over rated option).
  23. Great period color. First gear offerings, whether in vans or pickups, seem to miss popular period colors. To build a base model Econoline, bumpers and wheels would be Whimbledon White, and hubcaps would be argent silver.
  24. The AMT Ford F 350 super camper special 16.5" tires with stock full wheelcovers or slot aluminum wheels are period correct for '71 and '72 F 250's. I believe the 16.5" Goodyear Hi Milers are the only 16.5" truck tire ever made in 1/25 scale. The Moebius '69 and '70 F 100 stock hubcaps can be correctly used on F 350 super camper specials, if you find a stock plain 8 lug rim.
