  1. Very nice build, details are super impressive. Looks like a factory motorcraft battery!
  2. Nice work! Fleet trucks are my favorites, I did a Willig C 900. Unlike some other Ford kits , this one is labeled correctly as a C900. One of my pet peeves about the kit is the rear axle hub. Looks identical in diameter as the front hub, but with nuts, which can't be right. A C 900 would have a larger and flatter hub design when in the 22-23k lb rating. Here is a more realistic view of what should have been supplied with the kit.
  3. Thats It! Thankyou Tony. I'm all for all the new re issues of the old kits, but I really want to change them up a bit.
  4. Has anyone ever offered a resin RL conversion?
  5. Great stuff. Keep us posted when available for purchase. I'm in on the small dump bed and newer 3D 4 hole dually set. The rear axle hub is super realistic! Any possibility of doing the '67-'72 Ford F 100 small base model hubcaps?
  6. IMO, there's probably is a bigger market today for these truck models, than when this kits were first brought out new. I'm not privy to sales figures back then and today, but I surely could not afford them when I was 10 years old. It was hit and miss back in some local toy and drug stores, some releases I never even seen. Today, thanks to ebay, and being 40 years older with more purchasing power, the model truck market is making a big comeback with adults. Repops are great, but, its about time the industry offer some completely new big truck kits they never offered in the 60's and 70's. Build them, we will buy!
  7. Thanks for the positive comments! These high end series Fords share many common features with diesel trucks, except they are gas powered. So I just pirated an older amt Peterbilt frame for the backbone, but a non air bag set up would be more accurate. Did a little sanding to the cab and added some evergreen strip around the fender lip. Found the main trans an auxiliary trans in resin.
  8. This kit has super realistic dually type wheels, but they are the uncommon 6 hand holes with 8 lugs. Would look nice if converted to 6 lugs for use on 50's to mid 60's Ford and Dodge 1 tons. 1/32 scale large truck wheels look good on a 1/25 small truck.
  9. Thanks Casey for the visual aid. The real truck had a much larger front bumper as well.
  10. I'll be keeping an eye out for the very first Papa issue by AMT. 2nd or 3rd reissues are not always the same as the originals. Case in point, the first KW 925 had torsions bars, later had spring set up. Early Pete 359 had green windows, later had clear.
  11. IMO, it looks better than the newer KW version already! Can't go wrong with any mid 60's cabover build!
  12. Looks like another great build. Excellent choice in tires and wheels, heavy construction trucks always used the heaviest capacity axles and largest tire and wheel combinations to give max. GVW. Before Ford stopped making heavies, they were always one of the most popular vocational trucks on the road.
  13. Appreciate your info Ben. Yes those are the wheels on the box cover. May have been included on the very first Papa truck issue? Old wheels on old trucks is always my first choice!
  14. Thanks for working on this one Ben! I will be in line too.
  15. Thanks for all the replies. I guess we are lucky to get these re issues, but it would be nice if we got improvements in authenticity as well. Reminds me of the original issue IMC Dodge L 700 kit, clearly showed 6 lug disc wheels on the box art, came with cast spokes.
  16. I am interested in this re issue as a doner for the drivetrain, the long frame and wheels. Does anyone have a photo of the frame and wheels in this kit? A measurement of the frame rails would be nice also. Are the wheels ( both front and rear axles ) the uncommon 5 hole steel discs that are shown on the box cover? Thanks for any help.
  17. Plans are to build a 3 axle gas job tractor, similar to photo, not sure what grill to use yet, '57,'58 or '59. Luckily, Frontier resins offers this style but front end needed a little reworking. Had to add plastic stock strip to front end, square out the fenders and add bottom cab corners. Specs for truck in photo: 534 V8 gas Spicer 6352 5 spd trans. Spicer 8341 4 spd aux. trans. Timken FE900 11K front axle, Eaton 38D 38K tandem 175 WB , Full Air, 10.00x20 Tires and Budd 10 Stud DIsc.
  18. Got the Motor City non uni cab, now theres plenty of directions to go, a 4x4, a flareside a separate styleside or a F 350. Bed is a cut off from the '60 F 100. The geniuses at AMT molded the bed into the cab on the '60 F100's. Photo below would be factory optionally correct for a '61-'63 F100 F 250 2wd and 4wd. With slightly raised roof and correct grilles, it would be correct for '64- 65 F100 4x4 or '64-'66 F 250 4x4. Note front fenders were inlarged on all F 350's and some pickup models with factory optional larger wheel sizes.
  19. Thanks for the info on the LTL source jacobus. It does show it available on P&P site. I am sure Plaskit has a winner with the L 9000, hopefully, it is in stock and readily available. Lot of us newer members are not familiar with all the conversions out there. Any luck with obtaining one from Plaskit steel tiger?
  20. It would have been nice if AMT offered different versions of the Lousiville, but that didn't happen, so that leaves opportunity for the aftermarket to fill in these voids. I wouldn't mind seeing the larger grill and bumper made available as well. Bottom photo is a LTL
  21. One of my favorite kits, with plenty of build potential. Easily back dated '57 thru '73. '74 thru '90 used wider fenders. Here is a version rarely seen, special order CT series. I heard these were built as single axle trucks at the Ford assembly plant and driven to Hendrickson for the tandem conversion. This one begs for a heavy duty trash compactor. body
  22. I have been trying to email Plas kit for 7 months about some wheels, still waiting. I would love to purchase a long nose version as well. Wonder if the larger plated grill and the larger factory bumper is available. Too bad AMT didn't offer 3 in 1 kits for large trucks, like they did for cars and pickups.
  23. Very sharp Pete! The front end shot is very impressive, you got the front fenders sitting very pretty on the bumper. I have always had trouble getting my fenders to align properly.
  24. The Dodge L700 is a great donor for this project, but I would pass on the engine, too small, not in the same weight class as the White Super Mustang. I would go with the Ford Super Duty gas engine ( AMT C series tilt cab ), almost indentical in shear bulk. You should be able to use the Dodge manual trans ( probably a Clark or New Process? ) with a little filler putty work .
