  1. Nice work on all of them! The camo Dodge is spot on!
  2. Well done Chuck! Looks real!. Excellent modifications!
  3. Hello all, I have a real 62 GMC that I am planning to restore/ fix up. It currently has a 455 Buick motor with a powerglide trans which I plan to change. I wanted to create a scale model of what I want to do with my 1-1 truck. I began with the AMT 60 Chevy and stretched the frame for an 8 ft bed. I designed and 3d printed the entire bed, grill, hood vents, mirrors, tailgate, dash, wheels, battery, and back window surround. The hood and most of the engine came from the Revell 65 Chevy stepside kit. The tarp is from the firestone kit. Tires, carb, intake, transmission, shifter, and headers came from the parts box. I mixed various craft paints to get the color I wanted. I was going for a dark blood red but kept getting more of a brown color so I mixed in some blue and got this purple-ish color and decided it was a pretty cool color. For the mesh screens on the hood vents, I used a paint filter and dry brushed silver over them then cut to fit. The engine is a Chevy 350 with turbo 350 trans which is what I am going with in my real truck. I hope you like it and comments are welcome, thanks for looking!
  4. Thanks Chuck, that is a good idea (tv antenna) will have to remember that one! Thanks Bill! Thank you Mike! Thank you Bob! Thank you Jim! Thank you Jeff Thank you Al! Thank you David! Thank you! Thanks Mark, I never thought about the "Diamond in the Rough" set up...but you are right in that it will be along those lines! Thanks Tom, wrecking yard.....hmmmmmm ideas are rolling in my head now!
  5. Thank you Alan! Thanks Bob, I wish I had taken some before shots as it was a mess...the snow plow is going on a future build that will be a bit more beat up. I am glad you picked up some tips. Thanks Alberto, the tool box is from my old store "Rookie Resin" that is no longer open and is currently unavailable, there is hopes that someday I reopen but not at this time. I am just trying to get back into the hobby at this time. Thanks Michael! Thank you Bob, glad you like it! Wish we could go back and buy these old beauties at their original prices! Thank you Tom, always glad to hear from you! Thank you Mike and thanks for the info. I figured that was the case but wasn't sure for the 250's. I had a couple of 73's back in the day that were 360 auto's but they were both F100's (one 2wd and one 4x4) My last dent side was a 78 250 4x4 Ranger that I built and put in a 66 390 4 speed, best running truck to date and that thing would pull like no tomorrow with 410's but only got 8 mpg! Ha ha! wish I still had it! I am eventually gonna build a scale model of it.
  6. MANY MANY THANKS! VERY KIND WORDS....THANK YOU ALL!
  7. Love the subject, colors, and the wheel tire selection! A very nice piece of 70's memorabilia!
  8. Nice goat Al, you made those mods seamlessly and transformed a minimal kit to something far better! Great colors and detail!
  9. Love this sleeper plain Jane look! Your backdrop is exceptional!
  10. Hello everyone! I have been working on this one for months now and decided to share my progress. I started with an old "Bigfoot" glue bomb I built a LONG time ago! When disassembling I managed to break a piece of the lower windshield frame, upper interior tub side piece and part of the front fender removing the flares from the wheel well. I dug out one of my poorly casted regular wheelbase 8 ft bed and began work. I fixed the upper windshield trim area to raise it to proper height. I mocked it up with some of my 3d printed wheels and tested some kit tires. 73 had the gas tank behind the seat yet so I filled in the gas lid in the bed. I used a Moebius engine combined with a parts box bell housing. The transmission is one of my own 3d printed. I corrected the thermostat housing for FE engines by using some spru and filling the hole in the intake...it will be a heater hose inlet. The engine I am going with is a 360 instead of a 390 due to having more 360's. I assume this was used in the F250's in 73 ? I printed a tailgate for the Ranger minus the XLT trim and a more accurate Ford metal trim. The interior was cut to allow room for my door panels with the seat and the sides were sanded to remove what little detail was there. I picked up a Moebius snow plow kit and completed the plow and will decide later if it will go on this build. I used the tires and wheels from the Moebius kit along with the front differential and rear. I used my own transfer case and cross brace. The tool box is 3d printed and will be used. Time for the interior. One thing that always bugged me with this kit is how low the dashboard sits in the tub and how the steering wheel is way too low almost into the seat. I began by adding shims and rotating the dash to be more vertical. I scribed a line to remove enough material to allow the dash to tuck up into the windshield area. It required a LOT of material to remove! You can see that the dash is now more accurately placed when placing the tub into the cab. I made some pedals and printed them along with some shifters. I removed the AC vents on the dash and removed the "XLT" from the glove box. I used some card stock and tape to create the headliner then surrounded it with some solder. I made some sun visors (not very good) but they will work for this build. Got the trim work done and like mocking her up to check progress. It slows me down because I just sit and look at it for a while every time. Test fitting bumpers and dug out some International style cab lights. Not sure if the plow will be on this build, I think it will go on another truck. I sanded the firewall and placed a strip of plastic to make it a little more accurate. I know a lot of builders use the Moebius firewall but I didn't want to sacrifice a kit for it so I winged it. I built the motor and test fitted. I cut some material from the area where the battery goes to be able to place a correct size battery. Well this is where I am on it at this point. I put a hitch on it to hook up my trailer I have built. The trailer is under glass along with my 1953 Ford F100. More to come, stay tuned! Comments are always welcomed and thank you for looking!
  11. Hello everyone! This is a truck you would find sitting out on a farm or field. I weathered it pretty heavily to simulate years of sun beating down on it. I am thinking of building a diorama for it. My idea is to have a newer Ford with trailer saving it from the field and loading it up. I have almost completed the trailer and am working on a 73 highboy to complete the scene eventually. I have included pics of the trailer. I will post the work in progress on the 73. The 53 was rusted and weathered using brown undercoat and craft paints with sponging etc. The grill came from another AMT 53 ford kit (it is the correct grill) The seat was completed with tape and strategic slices and stuffing. The frame was slightly warped so I flattened the rear tire a bit to have her sit on all fours evenly. It worked out perfectly as the twist looks like its from the low tire. I stuffed a rag in the gas tank, made some cracks in windows and threw some items in the bed. Hope you like it. Comments are welcome, thanks! LOTS of PICS!
  12. Hello all, this was a quick slump buster project. I wanted something you would see cruising around in the 70's. Nothing special but added a vinyl top and the mags and tires. I grounded off the rear differential and added a parts box piece to get the stance. I didn't put an engine in it but left it so it could be done at a later date. The color is a concoction of craft paint to get something close to a factory color. Hope you like it, comments welcome!
  13. Great job on this one! Love the subject and the realism. An excellent time capsule of better times! I haven't had the problems with warpage as of yet but have only built 2 of these 67-72 kits so far...I have many more on the "to do" list and will keep my fingers crossed I don't have the issues so common with these kits. Thankfully the pain and suffering of great modelers such as yourself have given myself and others hope that even with warpage, great results can be had with a little patience!
  14. Excellent work Chuck! Love the factory stock approach!
  15. Nice work Tom, I love the stance, mirrors, and color.....looks like the real deal!
  16. Nice work Tom! I love the 4x4 conversion and the wrecker bed is very authentic! Well done!
  17. Nice work Chuck...always enjoy your builds!
  18. Amazing job on this Greg! Great color combo and nice clean work! Well done!
  19. Very nice! Love the color combo and clean work!
  20. Thank you everyone! Very kind!
  21. Nice work Chuck! Very clean and great story!
  22. Thank you all very much for the kind words. It feels good to be back although my hands are not quite as stable and I'm practically using a telescope to see anymore ha ha!
  23. Well it has been quite a while since I have posted anything or completed anything for that matter. Over the last two or three years I have been witling away at this project while dealing with “life things”. This build represents a memory from my childhood. I lived in a small town in Montana in the 70’s and was in 6th grade. A farm boy in 8th grade drove this pickup to school every day (it was his truck) and I remember being so jealous and just staring at it in awe. His truck was actually an F250 with a 460 engine but I built mine as a ½ ton with a 390 to make it “mine” ha ha! The colors are close but after clearing it, the yellow darkened up a bit. An unusual color combination for sure but Ford had these colors (or close to it) during this time so I am happy with the result. The grill inserts have a blue hue to them in some photos but I think it was the lighting or camera or something because they are painted grey and look grey in person. The bug shield is accurate with the exception of the letter style used. I hope it isn’t breaking any rules or offensive to anyone, if that is the case, I apologize for the post. I simply wanted to re-create the truck from my memory as close as possible. For this build I used: Grill assembly, door panels, wheels, fender/bed badges, and cab lights from my Rookie Resin parts. I designed and printed a new tailgate, AC/ heater box under the hood, AC compressor/ fan belt assembly with new power steering pump and brackets etc., washer jug, starter solenoid, battery, ignition module, coil, mirrors, and distributor. The regular 8ft bed is one of my crappy attempts to cast my own beds from 5 years ago that required a ton of work to get it usable. I fabricated from scratch: headliner, sun visors, antenna, engine plumbing and wiring, exhaust system, and bug shield. I had to do some modifying to the kit to get things to align a little better such as shaving a large amount off of the dash and adding shims to get it to sit up higher in the tub to be more accurate and to keep the steering wheel off of the seat. The interior tub needed to be modified to allow my door panels to be used and obviously the rear suspension had to be moved along with the arc in the rear frame. I used a modified parts box gas tank to fit between the rails at the rear. A Moebius radiator and modified jack were used under the hood and various parts box pieces completes the list I think. I hope you like it and comments are welcome!
