Nice looking Merc! Can you tell us a little more about the build? Box stock? Custom wheels? Paint? I just finished a 500SEC Lorinser myself. Love those Benz's. Chris

Corvair Wheelstander for the Birmingham Classic

That is an amazing piece of work. What really gets me is how "simple" and "clean" it looks. The execution of the build is outstanding. I need a thesaurus to add more words to this build. Chris -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MCM forum!!!

Happy Birthday/Anniversary MCM! Congrats! -
Nice clean build. You usually never see them in white. Chris

That is the 1/16 scale Revell kit of Giant Tracks. I built one back when I was about 15/16. I bought another a few years ago for nostalgic reasons and will eventually build it. Here is the second rendition box art for that particular kit: Chris

I'm not very well versed with the Cosworth Vega, but when I saw the one in Iowa last year I took a few pictures. Here are some engine shots I took: I think it's a neat little car. Chris

Well, I thought I saw some wheels that would work by Fujimi. Here is a pic of a Cosworth I took last year in Iowa: I think these wheels look really close: What do ya think? Chris

What did you use for the headlight lenses? MV's? They look great! Super Clean Eric! Chris

I'm also in that build group Tonio, doing an F430 spider ala Miami Vice the movie. So, red is not the color. Just started dry fitting mine last night (RoG kit) and wasn't real pleased with the results. Going to be a fiddly kit I think. I should have sucked it up and bought the Fujimi kit, but I was being cheap. Look forward to seeing yours built! Chris

Ismael, Can you hear that???? The roaring crowd? Yeah, you hit a home run! I have to agree with you 100%, a box stock build is good for the modeling soul. I hope your friend enjoys it! Thanks for sharing! Chris

Looking Good Marc! What type of wheels will you be using? 70-72 GTO's were my favorite style, besides the new 05-06 GTO's. Can't wait to see you finish this one. Chris -
Sticky, it looks great! Is that the AMT kit? Did you use Tamiya Black? Nice job! Chris

Hey Tonio! I think I bought this kit from you off of AF! My first kit from ebay came in a box smaller than normal, and to my dismay it appeared the UPS truck ran it over and I was right. The body and windshield were crushed. That's when I went asking for one at AF, and I believe it was you that sold me yours. Thank You! Thank you for the comments guys. Chris

Finally finished one. I still have the headlight wipers to put on, but they'll be on tomorrow. Tamiya Mercedes 500 SEC Lorinser Painted with Tamiya paints Pearl White w/Pearl Clear and Clear, polished out as well. Interior is Testors interior tan from the can and Tamiya semi gloss black. This was built right out of the box with no after-market items. One of my favorite big bodies. You can see it was in a different photo setting this time. Trying to use a photo booth a friend gave me and fiddle with the camera settings again. Feels good to get one done. Check out more at my fotki link.

Marc, gotta picture? I'd like to see how you do that. Chris

Hey Derek, Look for the Tamiya Paint stand for bodies and parts. One of the most used tools in my arsenal: It comes with this paint stand for the bodies you paint as well as what I call a parts paint stand, of which I haven't any pictures. Anyway, they range from $12-$20 depending on where you buy, and most likely at a hobby shop or online. Chris

A little update: Took some time today and got the body on the Mercedes 500 Lorinser wet sanded and polished. This is my second time polishing, first color was black, so I learned my lesson the hard way. White sure is much more forgiving. The hood and I had a problem, it hit the cement floor and chipped a chunk of paint off. So, I've already got the "spare" hood primed and wet-sanded. Just need to get it painted and polished. Anyway, this kit is almost completed. Just stuck in the interior right now. My results: Here is a shot of how it looks with some of the body kit: Chris

Bill, shipped from HLJ cost about $27.00. Definitely a better deal through HLJ. Chris -
A group of my friends and I get together and make the trek up to the Civic Center for this show. What a cold day! After the show we usually hit Hooters for some late lunch and atmosphere: My Buddy with our waitress and a few of the other girls. The cars were pretty good too: Their were even a few donks and low-riders. Good time with the company I was with. Check out My Fotki link for more! Chris

I use a dehydrator to warm my cans if needed. The hot tap water thing works too. As far as two tones go, I usually spray my color, clear, tape off and spray my second coat. Then peel tape and clean the body, then start clearing again. Their will be some wet-sanding in their too, but that is the gist of it. Chris

That looks great! That is the kit that helped me out of my modeling block last year. I love yours! I notice it must launch hard, she leans a little on the one side, just like mine does! LOL Chris

I look forward to getting mine any day now! That red plastic looks perfect! Unfortunately it has to be the hardest to paint over without bleed through. No problem though... Thanks for the quick review Ismael! Here is what mine will look like: Minus the rear wing, and well, not really a techart car, but close. Chris
