Good to know, I'll keep the first coat light and wait for it to dry. And thanks, starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. -

Got it in paint, went with Tamiya pure white. Laid down pretty nice, sprayed 3 coats on it to get proper coverage. Got a couple specks of lint in the paint that ill sand with some fine grit paper then add a couple emblem decals and clear it. Anyone ever have problems with tamiya clear wrinkling decals?? Hope not cause that's what i plan to use. -

Next up will be sorting out the rear suspension and figuring out where the rear end has to sit in relation to the leaf springs..since I'm using a 9" from a different kit the mounting points don't match up to the leaf springs so I need to make sure it's centered just right. To start out I messed with some parts box wheel backs and trimmed them up a bit to get the wheels to sit where I want to give it the right amount of tire poke like on the real car. Next will be getting the rear ride height where it needs to be..but I'm happy with how the rear wheels sit in relation to the body. -

Grabbed the steering wheel out of the amt baldwin motion 70 camaro kit and painted it to mimic wood..also set the interior tub on the chassis with the engine in place to see how it all looks. -

Made a little more progress. Painted and detailed the dash and added the kit gauge decals. Got a 3D printed MSD box and B&M shifter from VCG. Mounted the MSD box to the inner fender, ground down the stock shifter boot and made up a small trans temp gauge.. which is what my dad has in place of that void since it's an automatic with an aftermarket shifter now. More to come.. -

Made up a fuel line using braided lines and AN fittings..tried to replicate the Russell fuel lines coming off the carb into a regulator and down to the fuel pump.. -

Oh that's awesome, just checked their website and saw the "coming soon" section. -
resin 67 Nova Grille?
keviiin86 replied to keviiin86's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I built one a long time ago but don't remember how the grille looks off the top of my head..what did you do to it to look more realistic? Swap to a photo etch grille? -
Any aftermarket resin or 3D printers make a 67 Nova grille and headlight bezels to fit the AMT 66 Nova? Out of all the resin conversion parts and pieces and bodies out there in the aftermarket I've yet to see a grille and headlight bezels to convert one of THEE most popular AMT "pro street" kits ever. The bezels are shaped a little different which would require you to remove some material from the fender..but can be modified fairly easily.

Used some pastels with a file to lightly dust the frame and brushed it to spread it around..then hit it with a dull coat to seal it in. Also reshot the floor boards with a little more primer. -

Wired the engine and glued on the valve covers, carb is just resting on there until I get the fuel line run to it. Also got some paint on the chassis, still have to do a little bit of weathering to the frame. -

Thanks! The revell chrome is relatively durable, I usually let it sit for a few days before handling and it's fine. -
Killer look in that last picture you posted..I love those futur attraction wheels and tires, used those same front runners and 30x11 slicks on a nova I built, really gives it a nice stance. You should find a nice 4" cowl hood for that car..would really set it off!

The engine is pretty much done, fit the headers within the chassis, had to clearance the frame just a little bit to make sure they fit and painted and glued them on. Also made up a carb spacer. Got some moroso valve covers from iceman collections and painted them with revell chrome spray. Leaving them off for now until the engine is wired and plumbed so I don't mess up the finish or break off the T handle bolts. Also switched up the rear wheels..got a set of draglites from Iceman that I found were a little better detailed and tires from Texas 3D customs. Had to narrow the draglites again and accidentally sawed off the lug nuts in the process if cutting the barrels so I added more detailed ones. Currently trying to mock up the rear end and leaf springs in the chassis. If anyone's ever built this kit you'll know the instructions really botched the leaf spring and rear end install..whoever did the renderings/drawings has the leaf springs drawn incorrectly and mounted wrong. It'll be finicky to get the rear end perfectly centered in the wheel well so that will have to wait until the body is mounted on the chassis to get it perfectly aligned. -

Looks like a nice finish! Just out of curiosity why the odd color paints on the chassis and not typical chassis black or body color? Is that the color they painted it on the real car? -

So I was struggling to find a stock appearing 9" ford that looked "correct" in my eyes for the car. Most of the resin ones I find online don't look that accurate to me or are a fabricated 9" with a back brace etc. The rear end in the car was originally from a Torino according to my dad so I figured I'll check out some kit reviews on some of the Torino kits and see what the rear end housing looks like. And BINGO, the revell 70 torino has a perfect looking housing and is the identical length of then stock 10 bolt. So i found someone selling a parts tree from the kit on ebay and grabbed that. -

Painted most of the engine and mocked it up temporarily to see how it'll look. And got some primer on the body and hood. Decided to sand off the corvette lettering and emblem from the front since there was a mold line going right through it..and the decals from the kit didn't line up well with the molded in emblem and letters. So need to prime it again and make sure it's all smooth and then paint to follow. -

Little more progress today. Got the trans cut off and the resin th400 glued on. Been collecting parts for the past year, got a single plane victor jr intake from Ron Olsens shapeways page (close in design to the weiand team G that's on the car). And headers are from VCG. Those headers had to have been scanned from an actual set of hooker C1-C2 corvette long tube headers because they look nearly identical to what's on the car. Also got the wheels painted and finished up and tires sanded down. -

Hood scoop is glued on, waiting for that to cure then I'll add some filler to smooth it out a bit. Did a little mock up, cause why not? -

Got the scoop cut off the 67 corvette hood and about ready to glue down, still have to cut a hole in the hood though. Set the wheels in the tires to see how they look, I'm pretty satisfied with how they turned out.
