  1. thanks, I didn't know if I'd like the tan interior with the red, but it turned out nice.
  2. Got it mostly complete, just have mess with the hood and figure out why it doesn't want to close all the way in front, then add the little decal on the edge of the hood and find another side mirror from another kit since the one from this kit snapped in half when trying to cut it off the tree. I'll have to find a good place with enough light and take some decent pictures of it and post it in the completed model section..I'm thinking I'll probably post it in the drag racing section.
  3. Decided the interior was lacking a little and was going back and forth about putting a roll bar in but didn't like the kit roll bar, so I made up my own 6 point roll bar that fits in with the back seat..wasn't too fun building it around an already assembled interior but got it done. Also added some "tarnishing" to the headers to give them a stainless look as if they were run for a while and added a fuel line to the carb that I'll connect to braided line and AN fittings and a regulator once the body is on the chassis. Should be finishing it up soon.
  4. Also I noticed the 1:1 car has billet specialties..not sure if you went with the alumastars as that the closest looking wheel you could find, but I just ordered some billet specialties street lites from 3d model specialties by Ron olsen (3d printed by shapeways)..he has them in either beadlock or non bead lock and look pretty realistic in the rendering. I'll see how they look when I get them soon.
  5. I agree, realistic looking kit headers are hard to come by, I've scratch built a couple sets out of coat hanger (pain in the ass to bend but all I could find for the right scale diameter) but the revell 69 nova kit I'm building now had those same headers you have, also added some length to the collectors since they looked a bit short to me.
  6. Thank you! the intake came out of one of the older monogram GM stock car kits, I added the carb spacer to give it a little more height overall.
  7. Did some test fitting to see if I could slip the body over the interior tub and chassis..unfortunately the interior has to be fastened to the body before hand. I plan on running fuel line with a regulator mounted to the inner fender but can't do that until the body is on the interior tub and chassis since the inner fenders are attached to the interior. But figured I would throw the rear end and tires on to give me an idea how it all looks.. so far I'm happy with how it's turned out.
  8. I was going to suggest a 9" also after seeing that weird thick rear axle..just didn't seem to scale at all. I like the 9" from the AMT 57 corvette street machine kit, have a few of those kits laying around so I stole the rear end for my nova project.

  10. Got the headers painted and glued on for good and the distributor in and wired..haven't done that in probably 20 years, reaaally tested my eyes out with getting the plug wires through those tiny looms lol.
  11. Wow looks awesome, great stance and wheel/tire choice! Where did you get the rear tires?
  12. Made some more progress, got the engine mostly together and painted, had to modify the intake to fit a bit better as it came out of a 1:24th scale stock car kit, added a carb spacer and drilled some accessory holes in the heads and some molotow chrome to the ends of the heads to give the appearance of a machined face of aftermarket aluminum heads..still have to add some black wash to the carb and valve covers. Waiting on a wired distributor from morgan automotive detail..placed the order 10 days ago and haven't gotten an email confirmation or shipping details yet so don't know what's going on with them. But it's coming together.
  13. Thanks! Trying to knock out another part of the car every day I'm off work..this forum keeps me motivated haha.
  14. actually I think I figured out what it was from, I think it was a mid 70s dodge D100. I found someone doing an unboxing of an MPC 1977 dodge "warlock" pickup and it's got a small block and a single plane that looks identical.
  15. There was some mopar kit from the 70s I would say that had a nice small block LA single plane intake. No clue what it was though, maybe a stock car? Only reason I know this is because my uncle built a lot of models in the mid 70s and had a bunch of old parts and pieces he gave me in a box, I had the whole engine out of whatever kit it was, however I cannibalised the intake for a small block chevy lol.
  16. thanks! the rear tires changed the whole look..was originally going to put some smaller street tires on from the AMT 57 corvette street machine kit, but after trying these I couldn't resist lol.
  17. I've had great results with enamel dupli color silver caliper paint..used it on several occasions on my car, when last assembling my engine I painted the timing cover and valley cover with it and used some rustoleum enamel 2x clear over it..with minimal prep it turned out very nice. The silver has a very fine flake to it lays down nicely, and the rustoleum clear gives it a very smooth finish. Next time I decide to paint a model car body silver that's what I'll be using. I zoomed into the timing cover on my LS to show the finish as best as I can.
  18. Did this kit come with the hard top? Or was it only offered in the gasser version?
  19. Very nicely done so far, what diameter rod did you use for the header primary extensions?
  20. Got the interior put together, added a set of accessory gauges under the dash and a 3D printed B&M shifter from VCG. Otherwise stock.
  21. Thanks!
  22. Little more mock up, then to assemble the interior and engine.
  23. I've got a revell 1998 trans am kit that I would like to turn into a formula..looking at it, it doesn't seem like an easy task to modify the front and rear bumpers and scratch build a hatch wing. I know AMT made some 93-97 formulas but it appears they didn't make it with a realistic rear bumper, just uses the T/A bumper instead and nothing else in the kit would be of any use to me. I would like to replicate my car if at all possible.
  24. Here's my on going project, always something to change or upgrade..this is the first year in a while I haven't HAD to fix something on it, so I'm using my time to get back into model building.
