What did you see on the road today?
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just a whole bunch of rain is all I saw on the roads today.... -
What's the fuselage made out of though? Are those some sort of metal, 'glass, or some other sort of composite skinned and what kind of material is it framed in?

Probably not, my XJ Cherokee and Dad's first XJ were built 10 years apart (his was an '88 while mine is a '98), and even though they're the same basic vehicle (lots of parts interchangability), mine is at least a 200-400 pounds heavier than his first was. Granted, his first was about as stripped at possible (didn't even have a passenger side mirror!) And mine is the high end Limited model, but mine also has a more intensive HVAC system and bigger dash to accomidate it, more electronics, dual airbags, further unibody stiffening, ect, and that all adds up.

Lol, Tom!

Good to hear Dave, have a customer at work waiting patiently for that one!

Easy, make them too big to swallow

I found out that the Charlestowne Mall in St. Charles, IL, which has been going through a slow, agonizing death for the better part of the last decade, has started the begining stages of what's reported to be a $50-$70 million dollar renovation earlier this week and will also have the name changed to The Quad, St. Charles. http://thequadstcharles.com/ Hope it works out for them, it will be nice having a decent mall without having to drive a good distance.

That must have been a while ago, I haven't seen them bother with bar codes in those emails in a while. Not only would our scanners not read them when trying to scan it from a smartphone screen, but most of the time it wouldn't scan when printed out onto paper in a large graphic until right before they stopped using them. Usually most of those coupon codes are downloaded into each stores' system when corporate remotely updates info and prices, so he would have had to tell his employees if the store was going to accept these coupons and just flat refuse to accept them if not.

What DynoMight said...........

Wouldn't need to be in the car, just find a long enough stretch before the curve to let the car build some speed prior to finding a solid object. I am kinda curious if they found a brick or something that compress the go pedal to keep it moving once the driver bails at a safer speed.

My guess, Point said vehicle down a straight enough road while doing something to keep the throttle depressed and steer it just enough to get it to that point in the curve, then let chance and physics take over from there.

Good question, the only times we haven't is the one they accidentally sent out about 30 min. Prior to the current one that was "$20 off of $60" (which would have hurt the stores badly), the only time we have is when a customer had tried to use the same one a few times by printing a few copies and taking to different employees to ring him out. Not sure if he tried that any more than the one time before we caught on (he had passed from cancer about a month later) but we made sure not to let anybody else do that while the previous owner had the store and have kept that up with the new owners.

I actually work for a HTU, Those coupons are usually sent out at the begining of the month from Lincoln, Nebraska (HTU's home base) and expire anywhere from mid month to the end of it. Other than having your birthday in with that info and getting a separate birthday coupon, I don't know a way if getting any others beyond the monthly ones. I don't know about that store, but we'll accept the coupon if you can get that email on your smartphone, so you don't have to print it out. My store also participates in a coupon program via the Hobby Card that will print out a coupon for "$5 off a Purchase of $25 or more" every time the computer sees that you have spent $100 before tax, that one is good for 2 months and will print out when the transaction is completed. I believe those are at the will of the franchise owner though.

I went to top off my 200 tonight and as I was walking back out to it at the E85 pump, there was a guy at the diesel pump next to it filling up a TDI VW with the trunk standing open and wearing heavy, black, rubber looking gloves......... -

Almost forgot about this, saw a Tesla Model S near work yesterday that had Washington State plates on it! -
Really?! Kinda like to see these artists do to the NFL what Revell did to NASCAR. https://m.yahoo.com/w/legobpengine/frontpage/sports/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/nfl-wants-super-bowl-halftime-acts-to-pony-up-cash-for-the-privilege-of--exposure-180802404.html?.b=/index&.intl=US&.lang=en

You guys don't have folding stop signs on the posts for your stop signs? I've seen people actually treat that situation like a 4 way stop before the signs get unfolded............kinda weird for around here actually
-
You been in Geneva, IL recently? I swear that has to be a local past time around here, especially at night, while wearing dark clothing, on less that well lit sections of highway..............

No, she was just that bad of a driver......and it sounds like her cooking might have been competitive.......

Still, many, many years ago a friend of my parents backed out of her drive way, into a school bus (that her kids likely rode no less), the just drove off not realizing it. Come to think of it, remember that picture on that other magazine's forum where an H2 got buried under the back of a school bus? I think that was a speeder who wasn't paying attention to the road ahead.
