AMT/Lindberg '34 pick up Question ?
Joe Handley replied to Greg Myers's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I was not aware of that, thanks! -
Saw on the news i the last couple weeks that there's a community that is planning to cull some here and has some of their residents up in arms over it. I get the whole guns in a park thing and "Ehmigerd Bambi's Mother?!", but I wonder how many may have had to deal with Lime Disease or hit one with a car.

AMT/Lindberg '34 pick up Question ?
Joe Handley replied to Greg Myers's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That slanted grill explains a lot, I always thought it was a box art issue, not intended to look like that! -
That's the reason I haven't parked my 200 in one yet, only idiot proof way to tell it's flex fuel is to open the gas door and look at the yellow Flex Fuel models specific gas cap. Only other way to tell on the '12-'14 200 and Avenger is to look for the dual tip muffler like mine has, which also is the only way to tell which ones have the 283hp 3.6l V-6 and 6 speed auto vs the 170hp 2.4l no matter which trans it has It's basically the same idea as Handicap, Expecting Mother, and Military Vet parking, but for those of us that have bought electric, hybrid, flex fuel, or dual fuel vehicles. If you pay attention to what's on the road, there have been a good number of flex fuel cars and trucks made and with the exception of some years and models of Mopars, most will be badged as such and should (keyword there) be ok to park in these spots. Hybrids and Electrics are usually pretty obvious as well, only ones that would be tricky is Dual Fuel, which is normally CNG since they don't look any different from their gas only or flex fuel siblings and would require a decal or badge to make it obvious that they can run CNG.

I just remembered the Mid Engine Corvette Test Mule that has been forgotten in all the C8 Hubub! It's both Mid-Rear and Front-Front to see if 2 V6s would be a viable alternative to V8 power if those had to go away. Probably made a decent Fiero mule too

Not gonna lie, I was thinking a variation of this....

It was definately a forehead smacker when I realized it yesterday Luckily I have another whole rod to work with if needed!

UP Big Boy 4014 restoration almost done...

They're getting it ready to leave for Iowa this morning, already heard the whistle a couple times getting ready for work and I'm a half a mile away! -
Will do, although I'm going to have to redo that exhaust I bent up, I tagged the president of the local Shelby Dodge Autombile Club on Instagram for some more help, this time on I.D.ing the odd kit exhaust arrangement and he's never seen that set up on any locally owned Turbo K-Cars he's been under either, and pointed out the cat is too far back as it should be in the part where the floor hump widens out right behind the firewall.........somehow I completely missed that, although he still has his '88 Shelby Z while my '85 Lebaron GTS and '88 Shadow ES are long gone......I can use that as an excuse, right?

Haven't had the chance to sand the filler yet, but I did do a little exhaust work on it The factory exhaust is above and a bit off unless that's a California specific system, where was MPC working out of when they would have developed this kit for the '84 Model Year? Below is the cat back portion......backpressure will not be a problem here Next up, a little weight reduction was started Saturday night too.

This Big Boy is in town this weekend, with Dad being a retired railroader, I've spent a good bit of time around trains, but this monster couldn't be more accurately named Then here is one of the pictures I shot on Friday from the Metra Station on the other side of the Tracks to the north of this lot. -
What did you see on the road today?
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Different "Road", but still impressive What appears to be a small white van near the front is one of ABC7 Chicago's Nissan Titan based high roof NV cargo vans and is probably a good 8-10ft tall without the transmitter equipment on the roof yet looks like a minivan next to UP4014 -
Welp, today has not gone as expected.........

This might have been before the deductable was met, or they flat out refused, but did talk them down on the costs That it is, they did still cover $35k of the total bill though -
Found an article on it! https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1997-08-31-9708310116-story.html

They'll probably excell on limited access roadways with minimal traffic signals and pedestrians and more consistant speeds. Come to think of it, I think GM was playing with that exact concept from post WW2 into the 90's and even set up some MI highways with transponders their development cars could read!

Not sure if it's just the drivers around here or what, but I'm already almost more willing to share the roads with those than I am normal drivers

Well, this hospital stay is the gift that keeps on giving, just got another bill for all the labs that apparently my insurer didn't cover, adding another $447.20, on top the $447.80 I have paid for and the $4899.62 I haven't touched yet. Comes to a full balance of $5794.62......... -

Thanks again, any interior pictures would be appreciated too! Other than a few GM products (the G-series van being the only ones I would buy for a project) and our XJ Cherokees (even my '98 still has a good bit of AMC to it), we've stayed pretty loyal to Chrysler over the years, even as FCA. I did get some 2 part glazing filler for this Charger and the '88 Shelby Z I'm also building from a local auto body jobber called RestoPaint. Told the owner Miguel what I was looking to do and the stuff he recommended mixed and went down nicely, I did leave it to cure until tomorrow before I start working on sanding the filler.

Thanks! I've tried to Google the portion of the interiors that held the mechanicals and nobody has any good pics that I can find, that's why I finally bought the '69 GTX kit. Sadly, I one of the best views I've found was a quick clip from a recent Mecum auction on TV of what I think was a Coronet R/T or Super Bee convertible, and even that wasn't great. I'm building this as a "what if" styling prototype including the Recall wheels and using the shorter, stock windshield for if they were looking to see how it would look with the normal Charger sized windshield in it. I need to look at the Revell '68 Charger kit interior pieces to see of there is anything missing that should be in this tub, since it looks a wee bit bare to me. Nice looking Coronet too! Dad and his next younger brother both had '62 Furys (Dad's was white with red interior, not sure what thenother was painted) then his brother had a '68 or '69 Coronet R/T Dad bought off him that he and Mom drove for a while and built up credit with until they traded on a '70 Charger R/T 440 Six Pack 4 Speed and Super Track Pack car. Not sure what color the Coronet was, but Mom HATED the stripe around the rear as it tended to attract the unwanted attention of both cops and boy racers.........needless to say, the Charger was a simple F8 Green w/white vinyl top and interior, plain steelies with dog dish caps and and no R/T stripe! Dad even had them de-trim it to look more like a 500 car too. At one time, his parent (my grandparents) had a R/T-SE Challenger in a carmel likenshade of brown with I think a tan top (it's been 40 years since I saw that last). All of them were bought in Iowa as Dad's side of the family was living around Ames at the time and Dad had been friends with the late drag racer Gary Ostrich back then before I was around too.

Of course they do, they have 4 wheels, headlights, taillights, and they're a Mid-Rear layout, they're practically twins!

Peteski is right, it's an automated manual, sounds like it's quite the set up from what it looks like in this video too! Be interesting if that ever finds it's way into the Camaro or any other future RWD cars, even if it was backing one of the 4 or 6 cylinder engines. Would be interesting if this could be set up with a torque tube assembly like the C5-C7 Vettes and the Plymouth/Chrysler Prowler. Maybe even adapt it to a V-6 and FWD layout like the Chrysler LH cars used!

Finally got around to sanding those triangle shaped filler panels to better match the quarters, decklid, and daisey panel, it's about to the point I can put some primer on it and see how much spot filler it might need! I'm also going crazy on this and the Shelby Z trying to improve the appearance of the panel gaps since they are so weak on both kits.
