  1. Lost power tonight around 7:30pm and may not have it back until 11pm or so. Just hope this does not turn into another 49hr ordeal, only in 90° and stormy condition vs during 20° to 30° and snowy snow like right after last Thanksgiving
  2. Pizza and fried mushrooms from Little Italian in Naperville, IL, haven't had that since Mom came home from Alden Estates last April. Brought it home after a doctor's appointment today so Mom and Dad could have some (Mom was thrilled!)
  3. Picked up the '65 Lincoln, Pepper Shaker '57 Chevy, Polyglas Gasser Pontiac, and '85 ElCo on learance at the Naperville, IL HL to go with the clearance '57 300 and new to that store AMT '34 Ford P/U at the Batavia HL.
  4. Picked ip a few more at the Naperville, IL store today, all kits I already have, but may want more of later.
  5. Yup, one or two of those, also got one about how $300 was going to be withdrawn from my checking account if I didn't call asap to stop it. Found on the latter one, the scammers are trying to sucker you into giving them your bank info to stop that $300 from being removed, then use it to gain access to your acct. I even had one robocall that claimed to be a sheriff's deputy, even though it was obviously a robocaller.
  6. A friend of mine used to work at a Chevy dealer as a mechanic and had coworkers accuse him of not being loyal to GM because of his dislike of the Camaro and new trucks. He points out that the basic Mustang GT is cheaper than the base 1SS Camaro (looked, found the base Challenger R/T is cheaper too). Looked up the way I would order similar stripped down 392 Scat Pack Widebody with the auto. Can't get the Performance Pack 2 Mustang and 2SS 1LE Camaro with the auto, but the Camaro is more expensive than both with the cheaper manual trans!
  7. You got it, spelling wise, just remember that the S at the end is silent, like in Des Moines and not spoken like Des Plaines I have seen and driven through worse than this though. One time I had to buy new wipers for my XJ before heading home from the Job I had at the time because it was going to rain and the blades it had were shot, so I stopped at the Walmart a few miles up the road from where I took that picture and bought new blades and tried to change them before leaving, only to find they didn't fit. At that point, I was too wet to get back in it and walked back into the store through a downpour so bad I could barely see where I was walking, only to have the old lady greeter rip into me for going out into that storm. I had to bite my tongue to keep from going back at her and just head to the men's department to buy dry clothes so I could walk back out, get the wrong blades (I think there was some sort of blade swap that happened and I bought the results), exchange them for the right ones, changed them in conditions that weren't near as damp before heading home angry and still fairly wet. I later found out that there was a funnel cloud sighting near that store about that same time
  8. It was here in the Suburbs, it was windy enough that there are branches down in the area from it and I tried not to park next to Dad's van and my XJ when I got home earlier that day due to the tree in the back, which was good since there were branches down in the yard when I got home. My friend with the 3 cats had thought about heading down from Michigan for the parade, but it's probably good that he didn't if that was the case. Should be interesting to hear what happened with coworker and her family that was in town this weekend, they were going to go into the city for something as well.
  9. Almost forgot, started raining here just before I got home with lunch and when I finally got out of the 200, it started to pour. Once I got in the house, I discovered my wallet fell out of my pocket and was out in the rain. Ran back out to get it and found it soaked on the drive next to the car, grabbed it and went back in, shirted soaked so bad it made a slurping sound as I took it off. The wallet is still drying out but the contents that weren't needed were fully destroyed and the rest has dried out. Here's how it looked before the storm got here.
  10. That's why I prefer the Station Wagon Jeeps to the Sorority Girl/Frat Boy Jeeps, solid roofs that don't leak unless they're rotted out or have sun roofs!
  11. They had a few kits there, only one I had interest in was the '57 300 so I grabbed that and a couple cases, Did fine the AMT '34 Ford P/U though, used the Coupon in that
  12. Have a Dr's appointment near my local store today, maybe I'll head over when done.
  13. Might work for a late 60's-early 70's era custom car like that.
  14. Anybody else wondering how the areas that are either black or satin finished would look if painted body color instead then finish the machined areas with either a Moltow or silver gel pen?!
  15. Lots Almost forgot something too, got some pics of those Vette kit wheels! Lots of sanding to do if you don't have a mini disk or belt sander, but probably worth every bit when stripped, opened up, and painted!
  16. Same here, still don't think that look right on a '53 Vette or '71-'95 G-Van, but a C2 or C3 Vette or late 60's to early 70's Muscle Car, maybe even one of the revival Stutz Blackhawks from the Late 60's and into the 70's, without a doubt. I do prefer textured and machined aluminum (kinda the 2 tone aluminum) vs the machined and matte black finish though, then again, I find my self getting pretty annoyed with that look on modern rims now too Here's an ad that shows those off nicely! So, any chance there might be a run on the '53 Vette kits now that more of us know what those "custom" wheels are supposed to look like and started to take a liking to them
  17. That's what I had been thinking, maybe I'll take a closer look at the early 80's issue I have that's easiest to get to tonight. Those might look decent on some of the Muscle Car Era stuff I have laying around!
  18. That's what those are supposed to be?! I used to have an X-tacy Van kit and have a couple of the '53 Vette kits and thought those were just some poorly designed wire wheel replicas! May have to try and de-chrome them and see how they look under that chrome. is there a good way to get the backs see through like the Cougar versions in the first pic?
  19. I'm seeing that now too, the page has the same look as it does when I'm not logged in, including that message.
  20. First off, thought I saw Harry's Mustang today......wonder if it ever left the area, come to think of it..... Then tonight, I discovered there is an active PT Cruiser Club in the area, saw nearly a dozen cruise night prepped PT's, including a convertable at at least 1 Turbo GT. No joke, I think every one of the owners were older that my parents.....who themselves are now on the far side of their 70's
  21. Did you know the '87 Shelby Lancers were supposed to be a very Elenore-esk gunmetal grey with black graphics. Apparently somebody at Chrysler screwed up the order and sent Shelby's operation 800 Red Lancers instead of 800 Grey. Thought it would be interesting to do an Elenor like build of an '88 Lancer Shelby (those were built buy Chrysler instead.), maybe with one of the SRT Motors instead of a variation of the 2.2/2.5 motors.
  22. Mine was identical to the brochure car, but had red leather instead of what appears to be black leather in that pic.
  23. Not gonna lie, had one of these for my first car and Dad and I both still have a soft spot for it.
  24. Well, since I don't have any of my own, I'll just post a couple of my friend's cats! Here's Grace, sunning her self on the apartment porch railing. Linus, trying to look cute, with Mocha staring into the distance. And now a couple action shots of Linus, who has also attracted Mocha's attention now too! And finally, an elusive pic of all three in one shot, Grace is hiding by the food in the dark kitchen if anybody doesn't her right away.
  25. Dad went to Lowes and picked a new bbq grill and I went along since we needed new box cutter blades and they're the only place I've found that has the Irwin BiMetal blades, weeeeeeeeeelll, almost $90 later
