  1. Brian, i'm still not sure about them either, the idea I had looked better in my mind, I just wanted something a little prettier than the regular mod motor vc's. I'll keep working on them, or i'll come up with something else... Bob, been thinking of doing that, but I want to use a photoetch grill, mcg does offer a chopped grill shell though with horizontal bars...might give that a try, but the lower portion (the splash pan) won't be as low as shown, i've got a bit of work to do on the grill if I don't use a chopped grill..lol thanks for the comments guys
  2. cool idea..its builds like these that i like to see...very out of the box thinking on this one. I was always a fan of the coverted Nissan Stageas with r34 front ends on them, and this reminds me alot of them. I look forward to seeing more of this, keep it up Thanks Gray
  3. not much new except the addition of a front lip spoiler made from the kits front bumper, and new filler panel in the back for dual exhausts(from an amt 65 mustang) and more work to the sides where I tried to remove the chrome strip(would have left it there if I were to do this all over) Wheels will finally be the ones that came from the 66 Chevelle wagon. The interior needs a liitle more work but its a reliable resin race tub with revell 69 Camaro sides and dash. seats will either be c5 corvette or a set of r34 skyline units. Color will be tamiya mica red over gunmetal with some spaz stix red/gold flip in the clear. as always guys comments and criticisms are welcome. thanks Gray
  4. hey guys, been a while since i've been posting anything, I moved, started a new job and am still getting settled with the new baby. Anyway with this year being the 75th Anniversary of the Duece i'm going to try and get this done. I've been building on this since about 97 or so and just couldn't decide on a direction to go with it. Well i'm trying out a pro touring meets some old school build styles, with some vintage flair thrown in. its the body is heavily channeled, sitting on an amt phantom vickie frame with the 4.6 motor modded to look a little old(flathead heads modded to fit the valve covers and my own version of a hilborn efi system). Front suspension will be phantom vickie, rear suspension will hopefully be a '99 mustang cobra irs. Color will be tamiya dark blue metallic, wheels are modded revell salt flat specials in wide and wider with some MPC Motorsports tires. It will get a horizontal bar grill and the lower pan will be molded in to cover the suspension mounts, and to tie in the quad projector headlights. Hope you guys like it, as always comments and critisms are welcome, also hope you don't mind the pic quality, its my dads camera and while it does have macro..the lights in his place aren't the best for taking good pics Thanks guys Gray
  5. NICE! good choice of color, and overall looks great with the mods..
  6. great job man, that boat/trailer combo really sets it apart. this kit looks rather nice when built up. Gray
  7. man I'm truly sorry to hear about this. I've never met Ricky, but i've been a fan of his models since I was a kid. His style and imagination were truly unique, and will be missed greatly. I was looking forward to meeting him finally at some of the local contests in my new area, but I guess thats not won't happen now. My prayers go out to his family and to his friends to help with thier loss.
  8. Hey jb I love em both, being a former Nissan owner myself. I really like that Silvia, the wing on it actually looks good and the dark color suits it well. Great work man. Gray
  9. looking good steve, can't wait to see more of it. Your 32 and the flattie Jb built has me itching to work on my 32 Gray
  10. hey jb, you did a great job on the flattie...i'm looking forward to pics of the final car..actually I can't wait to see pics from that show with all the 32's i'm guessing will be there. Good work man.. also Modelmartin..finally I know hwo built that car!, that car has been inspiration for me since I first saw it a few eyars ago(even though i've not finished anything its inspired yet, it did make me go out and buy a 41 lincoln kit for the v12. Gray
  11. Thanks Lyle, I knew I should have checked your pics, since I know you've got a few 32's in there. I like the horizontal bar look alot, I've got the choice of the MCG ones and I also found one over on the Machined Aluminium Specialties site....hmm decisions, decisions....lol Thanks again, Gray Smith
  12. Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has used the horizontal bar grill set offered from the MCG on their revell 32? If you guys have a pic that would be great, i'm trying to visualize something for my 32 build and the pic on the MCG site isn't the best. Thanks in advance Gray
  13. I would liked to have been there with the 6000 the Red 65 Mustang brought...inline 6 doesn't matter..that was a cheapie. Would make a great car to restomod a few very small changes to and just driiiive Gray
  14. wow marc! the new lighting really makes the paint pop. I'm digging it so far, good to see some progress again. I'll be getting back to the bench soon to get more work done to the camaro and the 32..... keep up the good work man. Gray
  15. great job so far man, love the color combo Gray
  16. way cool in my book, loving the s.c.o.t. flattie I've been on a 32 kick with this year being the 75th of the Deuce, I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this build. Keep up the great work, i've got a 32 i'm in early stages of and I'll post it here when I get some headway on it Gray
  17. hmm the stuff I could make with that. I know how to do the drawings for one of those...just a matter of time before these get even cheaper, I'd think that carving wheels out of chunks of resin wouldn't even faze that machine.
  18. get in touch with Ron here.. http://www.scalespeedworks.com/ I think he still casts them, offers 2 sizes and are some of the better resin turbo's out there. if you can't get em there, and are willing to pay the postage www.thepartsbox.com has several to choose from(as well as other turbo related ancilliaries) hope this helps Gray oh yeah Welcome to the Board!
  19. This looks great so far. For some reason i've been on a big mid to late 60's race car and indy car kick lately, so this interests me even more. great work, and I look forward to seeing more of this. Gray
  20. Just placed my order with them as well, I'm looking forward to this kit. thanks for the review Craig Gray
  21. Lyle, this one has to be my most favorite '32 you've built yet....very nice build, I like everything about it, and it just fits together well. I especially like the halibrands... Gray
  22. Hey guys, not much time this week for body work(worked 24 hours of ot) but i've been messing with the motor some. The motor is based off of the amt wagon rod lt-5, a nice gm dohc motor. I added an old school hilborn style efi induction from some option parts in the amt 53 ford truck(after making a mold of them..i'll use em some more) the ram tubes are nothing more than 1/8th inch eyelets sold in a pack of 100 for 3 bucks in the scrapbooking section of micheals. its going to have some more stuff done to make it look a little more vintage tech but this is what its going to be. I also have been messing with rims again..the one shown is from a messed up rim from the revell chevelle wagon, and the wheel from a 65 chevelle z-16 kit, i'm trying to find something that has a vitage look, but is is a modern size. I just dipped em into some fresh csc and i'll see how they look with some more shaping. as always comments and critiques are always welcome. thanks Gray
  23. Man, Bill, thats a nice color, and imo your stripes turned out great! where does one find that fish eye eliminator additive? Gray
  24. I really like that 32 you're building with the nomad roof. It shows that there is use for those slightly odd looking phantom vickie bodies(i've got 3 spare ones), please keep us updated on this one!. I also like the tailgate/tail light mod on the truck. Keep up the great work on 'em ..I look forward to seeing more Gray
  25. Thats beautiful....great work!
