  1. I most particularly like a tip I read awhile back. I've tried it once and love it! Combine both techniques. > > > > > Use the Tamiya tape to mask the bodywork adjacent to the trim ... just as Andy suggests for painting ... but then apply BMF over the tape and the trim. Then gently press your fresh, new Xacto knife blade or scalpel along the tape's edge cutting through the BMF. Remove the tape (and the excess BMF comes off with it) and voila! The BMF remains on the trim but the tape removes the excess and leaves a crisp separation line just as if you had painted it! If you've seen this tip elsewhere (it's not my brilliant idea), get on the stick and try it! If you haven't seen this tip before, you may thank me later. = My good deed for the day, Jim.
  2. Like Mike said. A rule of thumb I also use is 'If I have to wonder, then it is time.'
  3. Good news. I would hate to see Al end up overwhelmed and plowed under. = Smile for good news, Jim.
  4. Wow! Most excellent!! = That's approval, Jim.
  5. Beautiful build! It looks so very ... Hudsony! = That's approval, Jim.
  6. I thought it said, "Don't get mailed." Which, if you think about today's postal service, could be the same thing! = That's more of that humor stuff, Jim.
  7. Most excellent! And, you're right about the tires ... back in this car's day, if you ended up with whitewalls because that's what you ended up with ... it was a common practice to reverse them because the whitewalls were cool on grampa's car ... or dad's car ... but NOT on your own ride or rod. And, those budgets weren't able to be too picky. Whitewall take-offs were sometimes cheaper than anything else, because the rodders with money were buying the blackwalls and nobody wanted the used whitewalls. My only tire critique would be to sand the treads and shoulders a bit to make the tires look like take-offs rather than brand newbies. But, that's just me ... this build still looks better than any rat rod I've produced so far (which is zero!). = Yep, that's approval, Jim.
  8. Absolutely amazing, John! We'll rent an extra table for Desert Scale Classic to guarantee there'll be enough room to display it! Rock on.
  9. Tomorrow (March 17) there's a plastic model swap meet (cars, trucks, planes, tanks, boats, motorcycles, figures) in Phoenix at the same location that Desert Scale Classic will be ... the Postal Workers Social Hall. But you are correct, DSC8 (the 8th Annual Desert Scale Classic) is on April 21, a mere month + away!
  10. Perhaps, but are they ever REALLY finished?
  11. Not to take away from your toils, Gareth, but once again, a "wrong scale" effort. {BTW, I think there's a slot car in 1/32 already.} 1/25, people. That's the scale everyone wants. There's already 1/87, 1/32, and 1/18.
  12. Wow. Looking great, Mark! Been watching it come together; eagerly awaiting the final 'reveal.' = That's serious approval, Jim.
  13. Yeppers, ole Bad Barney woulda got ya! Nipped it in the bud, he woulda. = That's humor, Jim ~ ~ ~ not you, CrazyJim, ... another Jim.
  14. Beautiful. Fortunately, I re-read the topic title ... the first time I misread it ... missed the "f" . . .
  15. Yeppers. Sweet. Great concept. Zora woulda been proud of this one ... except for that idea of Cobra wheels. Blasphemy!
  16. Real! I vote Real! Boy, I'm really dialled into this challenge. I really got it going on. I get almost every one right! I'm a whiz! I rock! Wow. I sure do impress myself with this ... now that I've got a system figgered out. = That's satire, Jim. Don't gitcher bloomers in a bunch ~ we're just funnin' here.
  17. Looking great, Rom. Just watch out for those judges at Desert Scale Classic! I hear they're tough.
  18. Ditto! I could have written that quote.
  19. Both very good accomodations! ***Bonus Trivia - Years ago, the legendary COPPERSTATE CHAMPIONSHIP (Model Car Contest extraordinaire) was held at that Embassy Suites for a few years. And, Yes! There is a bbq afterwards ... get details at the DSC8. Don't miss it!
  20. Doors open at 8:30 am. Yeppers, I'll be there! Look forward to seeing you.
  21. Nice.
