Hobby Depot is as good as it gets in the Valley; good stock, good people, and they treat car modelers well. Lots of car/truck models and supplies, lot of military, and some trains. They are very supportive of the Desert Scale Classic contest/show (major sponsorship), the local IPMS chapter's annual contest, and our local clubs.
Andy's is good, too, but he doesn't get involved in our local contests shows or clubs.
There are a couple of franchised Hobbytown USA shops that are very typical of HTU. And, there's a local 2-store chain, Hobby Bench, that is okay, operates similarly to HTU, and like HTU tends to be more R/C oriented, but with trains.
Check the local scene (and links, etc.) by going to www.Moonlightmodelers.com and drop in on the local bulletin board (check the Moonlightmodelers links page).
