  1. Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! :o Isn't this one of those threads that should be deleted because it depicted something that offended too many people?

  12. Nice so far!
  13. Why not? Obviously, a lot of us missed this one the first time around. Even now, it's like discovering buried treasure, a pure delight. I for one am glad that he did bring it back, because ... even though it was posted a couple of years ago, it is a timelessly beautiful build that I had not seen before today. Had he not brought it up from the past, I would never have enjoyed this amazing model. David: Fantastic! It's a masterpiece. Cekpetho Bce: Thanks for re-discovering this beauty. Gregg: Thanks for the forum feature that allows old posts to hang around and be found again, like fabulous 'old barn' finds. Harry: Thanks for reconsidering.
  14. Looking great so far, John!
  15. The Cosma Ray's original design was the version with the 'beak' front treatment and a different rear end. After a year or so on the show circuit, Starbird restyled it with the smoother, more 'shark-like' nose and the spoilered rear end, and eliminated the frenched antenna. The MPC kit ~ issued only once ~ portrays that second version. The Cosma Ray was the first custom ever to capture the triple crown of showcars: In 1964 it won The Oakland Roadster Show Sweepstakes, the NSRA Indy Nationals, and the LA Summer Nationals. Various iterations sported variations of wheels, interior appointments, and upholstery details. The resin kit John is working with is cast by Greg Wann. Around here we refer to him as The Master Caster because his resin bodies, kits, and components are so very fine! The bubble tops are cast resin! I have four of the Cosma Ray kits, and they are exceptional! My first build so far represents the "second generation." [This pic was taken before some chassis/body adjustments to bring the ride height down to normal.] Go, John, GO!
