I saw this large beauty displayed, in all places in a breakfast area of a Hampton Inn in Auburn, Indiana in 2017. I since found the manufacturer is ID'd as Carl Schneider Million Dollar Collection, hand built in resin. 8

For years the Westwood PD posted videos of mishaps at a particular railroad bridge. This garnered social media attention. The bridge has been replaced so the clearance issues are gone. https://www.masslive.com/news/2016/12/westwood_polices_famous_east_s.html (Click "Watch on YouTube" to view the 2nd video).

Thankfully my brother had a spare pair of glasses and lives only a few towns away so last night I ran over and grabbed them. I did also make a pinhole box, and also improvised a paper plate pinhole viewer. Both worked, and were fun to experience, but neither netted wonderful photos.

Partial eclipse here in Massachusetts. This is the only shot that came out OK using the pinhole box I made. We had a light cloud cloud cover as well, but not enough to get in the way of the eclipse. My glasses worked fine. ? All in all it was worth the hype.

Don't risk making your own glasses. Welding masks aren't dark enough. Official solar eclipse glasses use filter material that is certified for this use. https://rochestereclipse2024.org/safe-solar-viewing-methods/ Also note that the sun will damage unprotected cameras (including cell phones).

The jolt was reportedly felt up here in MA, though I missed it. We do get small quakes up here from time to time.

There appears to be a running theme in my photo archive of used car dealerships. Walpole, MA (2001 and 2017). In recent years this fascinating old building has been replaced by a boring new one. It was always difficult to get a clear shot of it with all the cars in front being in the way.

I was wondering what material the ambulance portion was made of. I now see that it's ABS and not diecast metal. The price listed doesn't surprise me one bit, as the various 1:8 scale diecast kits (Eaglemoss, etc.) tend to cost $1000 or so, IIRC. The page linked above is interesting that it includes the names of the manufacturing crew.

Long ago I once tried my hand at plating at a small metal finishing facility, so I can picture the vats described in the hexavalent type of plating. Chemicals were fairly nasty, and in the end I'm glad the job didn't work out for me. Society has moved on from lead additives to paint and gasoline. We can survive a change in metal plating.
