  1. Man I enjoyed this kit so, so much. I wish I had bought the photo etched parts for this kit so the emblems would look less like stickers and more like, well yeah emblems. The only thing I didn't really like about the kit is that the interior decals kind of look like those old LEGO ones with comical knobs and such. And also kinda wish I had an airbrush to clear-coat the body after doing the silver, hand painting a metallic coat is... savagely difficult already and figured it would look even less good if I hand painted a clear coat on it. But hey, stubbornness perseveres. Also messed up the 442 with an chrome/silver acrylic pen which now literally tears my OCD-ridden-soul asunder everytime I see it.
  2. Ya' reckon with a '70 Camaro kit from AMT the body would line up enough for it to work? Still would need a tail replacement for the rear lights and such but it's a hell of a strong start if just modifying a '70 body would work, albeit finding one that isn't molded in safety jacket orange. A while back I came across some guy that casted the '74 body from the annual MPC kit but I'mma go ahead and assumed he's been shut down due to legal reasons, wish I bought one back then. Mid-70s Camaro's are such a pain in the rear to come across, though at least front fascia's a plenty! Edit: I have to add, my biggest issue is the fact I don't live in the States and import duties on say a 80 dollar+ resin cast are on the verge of sadistic, that really crippled my search for a proper '73-'77 Camaro kit/parts.
  3. Hah, I just spotted your topic! Great minds think alike? <3
  4. Yeah, I'mma be using "hearing aid beige" to describe that color from now on out, that is perfect hah! Speaking of perfect, love that build, man!
  5. Build this one quickly and a tiny bit shoddily, pretty much out-the-box-stock to finally wrap up(or rather, at least get a start to finish line-up) of every generation Camaro in stark yellow with black stripes(if possible). I gotta admit, AMT really raised the stakes for detail in terms of the chassis and engine bay on a modern car model. Now all that remains is to build the AMT 1983 Camaro I got sitting around and by some way or pray to whatever God I gotta for AMT to churn out another 1974 Camaro so I don't have to camp eBay and pay some guy 200 bucks for a second hand one D:
  6. Thanks to the both of ya'! <3
  7. So I'm winging it for the first time on a kit with photo etched parts, which is going decently, however the only hiccup I got is that I can't for the life of me find me a decent interior reference shot of a '71 Cuda's interior to get the detail right. I'm not even 100% sure if a sublime green Cuda had the option of a black interior! Also got a set of Magnum 500 wheels, since they look a hell of a lot better than the stock Chrysler wheels. Oh, also, were the bumper canards stock as well? But any tips are more than welcome, especially some proper reference material cause man, it's hard to find a stock 426 'Cuda on the web these days with pictures of the whole car. Edit: For the curious ones, the paint's a mix of blue, fluorescent green and yellow enamels, I winged mixing it so I can't tell you specifics :c
  8. If you ever look to sell the second one, I'd happily snag it hah! I loved the kit so much I really want to give the NASCAR build a go as well.
  9. I finally found one of the Pro Modeler kits on eBay still in wrapping on the cheap, though either pressure or something warped the body some so from the rear right quarter it's semi crooked D: Also, apparently all the sparkplug wire came undone sometime between finishing up the model and snapping the pictures. But regardless, this build's 99% box stock(minus the wires and paint of course), so I gotta give Revell/Monogram credit for just how great the kit is.
  10. 110 bucks starting bid, woof... Awh man they really need to re-release this or scale it to 1/25 D:
  11. Ahh dang, I was afraid of that... I may roll with Can-Con's approach of getting a pile of putty and a lot of sandpaper and giving one a basic do-over so it at least makes for a nice shelf model, I'm just so bummed that it's this meh quality wise. Also hold on, 1/8 scale!? How much did that RRP for back then? o.O
  12. Sorry my bad, yeah it's silver. Though it's so unbelievably shiny it may as well be chrome D:
  13. Sweet baby Jesus this blew all my expectations out the water. I got a series going on with every Camaro from first gen through the last, just missing this one. I was really worried that it wasn't gonna be any good, Revell's '10 SS and '13 ZL1 have been pretty high up the detail scale but Round 2 just took the cake and the whole freakin' bakery. Thanks for the ton of pictures, Tim! Late September it hits the shelves, right?
  14. Seems like they're available on Amazon.com for around 5 to 8 dollar, not sure if they're common though. And to Harry, I had to paint over the cables cause for some reason they were black when I ran 'em through the engine but became largely white after a day or so(maybe some chemical in the enamel paint, but man it was weird). So I had to paint over 'em, thought the red looked decent and went with it but I couldnt reach half the stuff without coating half the engine in red D:
  15. I'd kill for a proper re-release of an AMT mid-70s Camaro. The '74 or '77 especially.
  16. Sweet holy hell that is beautiful, is that a Buick GSX? And honestly I might do what you did Jollysipper, gut the thing and glue the shaker to the hood. All in all it's not too horrible when most the functionality's taken out of it. Wheels still sit awkwardly high on the front on mine but, suppose with some glue and struts I can mend it. Also are those BBS wheels? They look fantastic!
  17. I usually never make drag versions, or anything but slightly enhanced stock but about halfway into making a Superstock Dart I figured, the hell with it - Bright blue 426 HEMI Dart it is. Also the first time I ever really spray-painted my model, other 50 or so I always painted by hand(brushes and Humbrol enamel paint just feel better with me, dont know why), think the benefits of spraypaint clearly show though. Tire decals are by Fireball Models(drag slick decals are from the '70 Torino GT kit). All the chrome details are done by a Edding 780 and 750 acrylic chrome pen, which are an amazing alternative to the foil which I can't get my hands on for a decent price in my area.
  18. So I'm attempting to build this one at the moment, and when I say attempt I mean that in the "absolute failure and close on giving up on it due to the amazing quality of the kit" way. I'm at a loss here, everything with this kit that could've gone wrong has gone wrong for me. None of the wheel prongs fit, the metal one is almost twice as thick as it should be, I found out too late that there's some rock hard flash on the top of the chassis so now they won't connect, the entire nose is molded too thin on one end so it actually doesn't fit, there's a quarter centimeter gap between the rear bumper and the taillight, the hole where the engine sits is a bit too far backwards so the shaker doesn't actually meet the hood, I had to use pieces of the rollcage to forge makeshift wheel prongs, I mean Christ I sincerely hope it's just tough luck on my end and having gotten a bad egg. My questions here are now that I've gotten to a point that nothing will fit without some serious breaking and ruining of the body/chassis and also literally being one squeeze away from being done, should I buy another one of these kits in hopes of getting parts that'll fit(I can score one on the cheap so it wouldn't be a giant loss) or just bin it and write it off? The reason I ask this is cause I've had varied results with MPC, the '72 Pontiac GTO is easily one of the worst kits I've ever touched but at the same time... They have made some really nice kits to counter that, I wonder now if the '79 T/A is part of the former.
  19. Yeah I expected a lot more finished H/O's with the amount of attention the topic on the Reviews board got but hey, at least there's a couple! And thanks for the nice feedback y'all!
  20. Of all I've done, I think I like the all gloss black Mustang LX or metallic blue Dart HEMI of mine the most.
  21. This seems to be common, every build of this kit I've come across is missing the mirrors for that reason. I'm in the process of making one myself and honestly they're annoying the hell outta me, they just refuse to sit right no matter if you position them differently, raise them, lower them, nothing D:
  22. I build this one when it came out, albeit sorta rushed between a couple of other kits, but even then I went full detail with the interior for some reason. Also didn't have any 30 gauge wire left so couldn't wire the engine up sadly. For some reason the decals were ultra sticky, even with some soap and whatnot a couple just stuck right to the paint and never wanted to be moved again. Despite that, man I love this model.
  23. Thanks for the nice replies, and to FordRodnKustom; I got a series of drillbits and wire-wrapping wire, boring holes luckily isn't so tough but man, attempting to put the wires to the distributor is nothing short of nigh impossible for me. D: Yep, bought a giant pile of waterslide decals(Dunlop, Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Cooper Cobra, Road Hugger etc) in 1/25 scale from some online retailer ages ago. Really finishes a muscle car model's exterior in my opinion, so tend to slap 'em on whenever it suits it.
  24. So this is my latest kit, I'm probably supremely amateur(I like to consider myself so) and a lurker of the forums for like a year now. Noticed how friendly and helpful the community is, so question time here we go: My real weakness is boring holes in the engine and wiring up the spark plugs to the distributor. Generally I just glue the wire ends to the alternator or bind 'em together. Does anyone have any better techniques? Mind you, I'm in Europe so many of the custom stuff ain't available here D:
  25. Yep... You're correct, and thanks actually! The images I used to try to replicate the interior were from a second hand Olds from eBay that had the hell beaten out of the interior. All of the decals that need to go to the interior besides the dials are actually never mentioned in the instructions, kinda annoying they messed up there.
