That’s a great idea for more grip. This is a very unique truck I also like that “Pancake” style muffler and the single foot hole round tank. Have you ever thought about building this truck as a model?

I remember that Engine. My current Boss her dad bought a 1968 Mack R steel dash at a Auction one time for me to drive that had that engine very low torque it was married up with a 5 speed. Thanks I appreciate the info.

This was my very first AMT ‘53 Ford Pickup in 1985 I bought it brand new that year. Your build is looking great with all the details your adding. This model is still one of my favorites out of the AMT Pickups

The very first 70s Dodge Dually's pickups had just the rear flares on them kinda like you did. Nice idea.

Yes they do Ken I have several builds and built in the boxes myself. One thing about cars too is there’s a nice selection out there now.

Scott now that’s a Cool LJ and story. Was it a 285 Maxidyne Weldon replace the Thermodyne with? This Truck reminds me of those Brockway Mixers with the “Boxed type” finders Gotnitro(Jeff) built some years ago on here. The ones I’m thinking of were Green and Red not Colonial either. Not at all Scott. Please do I always enjoy old stories of Mack trucks and I’m still learning after 50+ years being around them. I was a teenager when you worked on that Fire Truck engine 😂. Seems like I’ve drove more Mack’s than any truck out there. My first was a 1979 Superliner in 1990 with a ENDT-676 with a Mack 6 speed Hi/LO Splitter with Reverse on the Splitter also. It had same engine as the Mack Cruiseliner model. I’m sure you have played Veterinarian on these a time or too 😂. Thanks for sharing your story. When I find a pic of that Superliner I drove I’ll PM you if you want.

Thanks Scott for the cool pic. I would then have to change it to a B20 😂. There was B gas burner at the St Louis Mack Dealer under their car port I think that one was a B40. I would always go look at it when I dropped my CHU613 for a Gen service. Thanks for sharing maybe next time.

Yes it is just one of its dirty secrets. I’ve got one almost done just doing some final stuff to it. I like how you fixed the side marker lights on the fenders where they belong and separated the MACK letters too. Your pin wash looks good around the vents and doors are nice. It’s very hard to get this cab and hood to sit level but as Bill ( My Bother) and I we’re talking today how yours sits perfectly. I’m still fighting with mine but I will eventually get it. Thanks for sharing.

Yes you are right same down here very simple set up as I remember as a kid and Bill (My Brother) was a Mechanic and a Plow Driver for our County in the winter months when needed. I remember him talking about them because he also worked on them as well. As you know the kit came out around 1972? I’m sure AMT at the time didn’t slouch on the details but like you said it’s just not modern but great details for the time frame. It’s always fun to build what you have been around like your doing. Ok I think I’m going to give it a shot. You know me already I’m very picky when it comes to paint and paint schemes. I’ve never built the plow or the spreader box I’ve built several of the dump beds through. I always had in mine this Safety Orange ( Tangerine color) I’ve had in a Rattle can for years with a black frame and possibly the top of the hood black. Thanks again and I appreciate it. Brian again you have really encouraging me to finally get going on this build after years of it being a dream.
