Many years now I’ve had this idea every winter to build this project and mark it off my bucket list of models to build but either life of other things got in the way. The Truck is the basic AMT Mack R with the AMT Ford Louisville Plow truck using the Dump Bed and Plow. I’m on the fence about the Salt Spreader. This time of year reminds me when my brother Bill 18 years old at the time worked for our local County Road Commission as a Mechanic/Fabricator and when needed a Plow Driver from 1978-1983. Bill was also our Family’s Truck Mechanic too. This build will mostly be Box Stock. I’m not going to show you much of the play by play basic build of truck to bore you so I hope you ride along. I’m keeping the frame open in Glider Forum till I get my WB figured out for the Dump Bed I’ve had that can of Benjamin Moore Tangerine safety orange since 1988 when I work at the Lead Mines. 😂 It still works!!

Yes those would be nice Ken. I’m going build some more trucks till I run out of room 😂. Then maybe cars and pickups. Did you decals arrived yet? We had ice snow now more snow that’s holding up the mail. -

Scott it would be a eye catcher for sure. Those DT466 are hard to beat. Before the Feedmill closed down I was working at in the winter time delivering feed for 3 winters. They had a International feed truck that had a DT466 with a 5&2 speed with a working 4th & 5th gear. My current boss she has a International dump just like it but with a navistar 6 speed straight across. I bet that was a cool S Series truck. Here’s the ones I drove I still drive the International dump truck when my Pete Dump Truck is in the shop for service. Thanks for sharing your story. -

Mack AC Dump Truck with Pneumatic Tires
Pete68 replied to Pete68's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks I appreciate it and dropping by. I’ve seen lots of pics old BW and new ones that they done this way and always wanted to try it. If you ever decide to build the AP Hoover Dam ones and never seen Charles’ (Chariots of fire) one check his out or reach out to him. He and I think a friend of his built a outstanding looking one very high end details and lots of Fab. work they put into it. If you have seen their build it’s worth a look. -

That’s a great idea for more grip. This is a very unique truck I also like that “Pancake” style muffler and the single foot hole round tank. Have you ever thought about building this truck as a model? -

I remember that Engine. My current Boss her dad bought a 1968 Mack R steel dash at a Auction one time for me to drive that had that engine very low torque it was married up with a 5 speed. Thanks I appreciate the info. -

This was my very first AMT ‘53 Ford Pickup in 1985 I bought it brand new that year. Your build is looking great with all the details your adding. This model is still one of my favorites out of the AMT Pickups -

The very first 70s Dodge Dually's pickups had just the rear flares on them kinda like you did. Nice idea.
