Timpte reefer trailer
Warren D replied to KJ790's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Amazing work. Mine would not be straight, even with a jig. -
I've seen many of his wreckers, he just got a 73 A-Car with hydraulic boom.

From a local show, these might make interesting builds: 1958 International Wrecker, frame lengthened. Brockway Dump

Got mine yesterday and have the PE for it. Does anyone have info as to what the PE parts are for? I know the obvious ones, grill, pedals etc, but there are some of the smaller bits that are eluding me.

In the mid-1980's you could get these chrome or white steel wagon wheels for as little as $60/rim. They were cheap and rusted rather quickly so I don't have an issue with seeing them on a build like this. Just tells me that at some point someone had a deal on a used set, cheap! -
Truck tire ideas needed

Take a look at some of the DEF offerings. They have some more "modern" tires (like super singles) that might be large enough to do the job. -

I'd head over to a site called Armorama. Dedicated military vehicle site that has forums you can register for. There are tons of aftermarket wheels and tires for military applications across several eras. Sprue Bros carry a lot of what is available. Most of the aftermarket stuff is resin, same as the 1/25 scale truck world. DEF Models probably has the largest choice. -

At almost $12/tire, you're looking at almost $120. Not for me. -
Sorry, I didn't do any WIP pics. In summary, I shaved the high spots off the kit windows and installed. Filled with styrene blanks to bring up to level, then lots of filler for the gaps and seams. Never got the look I wanted so I skimmed over the entire side with paper-thin styrene sheet and feathered at each end.

Started with the Revell 66 Suburban kit and decided I'd like a panel truck. I bought a Jimmy Flintstone resin panel body but decided to just fill in the windows on the kit body. Took longer than I thought but I like the results. Photos are quick, I keep forgetting the LED lights have different tints so I'll probably drag out the big lights on some rainy day. Paint is Testor's Aztec, White Pearl over Blue Pearl. Again, the photos don't do it justice. Basically OOB, I added a little lift to the rear, more typical of the time. I never liked the way the kit stock Suburban sat, too low in the rear for my tastes. Added a couple of new pics, better representation of the blue pearl.

Looking for some sources for wheels and tires for a pickup/ suv build. I like old school, deep dish chrome, Cragers, etc. Would like a little larger than stock supplied with the Revell 66 Chevy Suburban. Links appreciated, thanks

Anyone have an e-mail for Moluminum? The contact link on their site is broken. Got it, had to use IE. For some reason Firefox does like the site.

What truck is this?
Warren D replied to PierreR89's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Probably a better choice as either should have a longer wheelbase than the tractor kit. -

Very well done. -
Grill looks different from the one I built up almost 40 years ago. IIRC, the grill was a stick-on with holes. The one on the box looks like slats.
