  1. Is P&P Vintage a good company/person/resin source to deal with? For the high prices of parts, I sure hope so. If not, I'm looking for a 12v71 or a KTA600.
  2. I really like the look of the red Brockway to the left of the Mack rock truck. Makes me think of the Autocar scrap hauler from Maximum Overdrive. What's the tractor to the fire dozer setup? It isn't visible in any of the pictures.
  3. I'm assuming the whole carb/intake assembly is scratchbuilt? If not, I might have to pick one up for my mustang dirt car. Anyway, absolutely outstanding work. If you get the angles and the setting right, this car looks real. Awesome job man.
  4. Man, when I read "Pakistani Toyotas" I was expecting white trucks covered in dust with machine guns in the bed. At any rate, good luck, dual builds are always a pain. Try not to confuse parts between the two kits (I've done that, not fun to sort out).
  5. Even though I got no bites and this is a double post, thought I'd update the thread with current pictures. The frame is painted in Rustoleum OD green and the bodies are in Model Masters Blue Angel blue. All the chrome parts have been washed in Vallejo brown wash to dull them down. Shot of the underside showing off the green paint, note the styrene rod between the R model transmission and the CF600 transmission Here's how she looks upright, you can see the 2 styrene rods on the inner edge of the fenders joining the two frames, as well as my horrible decal work. Shot of just the fire truck body, I clipped off the ladder mounts and omitted some parts as well as cut the bottom of the body at an angle and cut roughly 1/4" off the front end and a shot of the whole thing together. That ugly black piece where the air cleaner should be is a patch for the hood hole since I didn't have the air cleaner part (the R model kit was pre-opened and somewhat assembled) She's still not done yet, it needs more weathering and fine detailing plus some coats of gloss clear. It didn't come out perfectly as I wanted it to, but I overall like it.
  6. So this is my first kitbash. It's a monogram Mack R tanker and a Revell Mack CF600 fire truck. Both are level 1 snaptite kits, but I thought they had potential. I chopped the frames down, and I'm in the process of gluing everything together. Going for a brush/service truck type look. Still unsure of what it's gonna be sprayed in. I welcome all feedback and thoughts.
  7. I'm hoping this is the right board. Do you know if anyone makes a (preferably 1/24 or 1/25 scale) kit of the 5 Ton army trucks, also know as the M939 family? I have a soft spot for these trucks and would love to build one. Thanks!
  8. Man, you make my weathering job look like absolutely nothing whatsoever. Great work, without the popsicle sticks and stuff, I would've thought it was real.
  9. Seems to be worth picking up then. Now to decide on how I'm gonna build it.
  10. jeez, you guys are really making me want to pick up the AMT C600 stakebed. How much of a pain is that kit? All I've heard about AMT is the horror stories of parts not even remotely fitting together, and things like 14 piece cab mirrors.
  11. Is there a 3408 engine out on the aftermarket? Or a clone of one that's not exactly a 3408 because of Cat's insane trademark policy? I really do love old V-pattern diesels
  12. Not my style but I gotta appreciate the craftsmanship you put in. Well done, sir. What kit was this? I might have to pick one up just for that 12v71.
  13. to convert the cab, did you simply chop the sleeper off, or would I have to put a piece of styrene sheet in place of the back of the cab? I'm thinking about doing a daycab 359. Otherwise, build looks great. Excited for more.
  14. If I may offer a suggestion, I would personally chop some of the reinforcement on the forward side of the fenders (where the trans is hitting) a little, and reinforce between the fenders with some styrene rod. Then scoot the motor/trans assy back a little to clear the seats. That's how I would go about it, anyway.
  15. So this is project Extractor as she sits right now. Thought I'd share it. What it started as: Revell '77 GMC Wrecker Inspiration: US Military M1008 series CUCV trucks Stuff used: Vallejo brown wash Testors flat black Tamiya flat earth Rustoleum Camouflage flat tan/OD green Styrene rod Tamiya Weathering Powder set I know it looks done, but I still need to wrap up some detailing and clear it in matte, I plan to add mud splatter to it and put some more soot and rust on the wrecker body. I appreciate all comments/tips/ideas. Apologies for the horrible pictures, my phone camera was really dirty. I'll get more.
