KrAZ 256B 12 Ton Dump Truck
Dieselhead replied to traditional's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Interesting. Can't say I've ever seen a KrAZ model, online or otherwise. You really did it justice, and proved your own point; something about this truck just makes it look right. Great work. -
Conforti Mack DM821SX 03/11/17 update

Looks great, I'm quite the fan of that metallic blue. What did you use for that? At any rate, she's shaping up to be fantastic. -
TAT DM600 Combo
Dieselhead replied to Dieselhead's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey guys, thought I'd just to a quick update to adhere to TAT. Unfortunately, no news. It's been too cold for me to go into the garage or paint, and I've honestly just been too swamped with other things to get to modeling. I hope to get back in the saddle next month when it warms up a bit so I can actually work. -

Looks good, should be much better than my homebrew CUCV one. -

Looks really good. I really like how understated and utilitarian it is. You nailed it. -
I'll certainly have to order my V903 and DM600SX parts from him!

AMT Movin On Kenworth Announced
Dieselhead replied to steel_tiger1's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I'd figure its just due to ease of casting. Walking beams are pretty simple and the molds would be cheap to make as well. -
Looks great, feels like I've seen it on a dirt track before. Superb weathering as usual.

AMT Movin On Kenworth Announced

While this is the Movin On truck, I can't help but think about doing a Snowman rig.. -
Dodge welding rig
Dieselhead replied to zaina's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
You'd want an old Lincoln Redface SA200 copper-wound welder, made in the late 60s on up. That would be perfect. I could probably make you up a set of welder decals if you're interested. I really have a soft spot for both power wagons and hirails, so I'm really interested in this. -

Dude, that's insane. I'm surprised she doesn't run. Awesome work. -
Autocar wrecker

I always have a soft spot for wreckers running Holmes 750s. Awesome job, you really did it justice here. The 8v71 looks right at home under that butterfly. Great job. -
Looks awesome. I'd love to see this with an american trailer just to see how it would look. Can't say I'm a big fan of the lettering - personally, I would've left it generic. Regardless, it looks great.

Yours makes mine look like a tonka toy. I'll be following this closely. -
20' Container trailer
Dieselhead replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Looks really good. Color wise, I'd personally go with just a flat black on the whole thing, maybe off-white rims. Nice and universal. -
Auslowe Australian Mack Super-Liner MK1
Dieselhead replied to Bennyg's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I know they're an aussie company and all, but I really would like to see some LHD dashes as options from them for us north americans who want to build these rigs, lots of cool stuff there. -
TAT DM600 Combo
Dieselhead replied to Dieselhead's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Went ahead and got the main dump body parts painted. It's my first time using an airbrush and I already love it. Outer body and tailgate is MM Gunmetal Metalizer, inner is a 2:1 (ish) mix of MM Burnt Iron Metalizer and MM Gunmetal Metalizer. I know that the paintjob's not perfect but I wanted to get done what I could while it was still nice out. I'll probably finish it up in a couple days. Frame is still warped, I need to use some heat next time because just straight clamping for about an hour didn't do anything. -
TAT DM600 Combo
Dieselhead replied to Dieselhead's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I'm gonna leave them the same length, I like that look better. Speaking of the trailer, I got some work done on it today - not much though. I got the parts off the sprue and attached the frame gussets and had them solvented in place before I realize both frames have an S-shaped warp along their whole length. Either curve of the S is about 1/4" off of square. Anybody have some ideas on how to try and true it up? -
TAT DM600 Combo

So if I understand correctly, the axles are not only too far apart, but also too long so the track of the wheels is too far apart? -

I would love to see the tweaks needed to make that work, all info helps. -

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not really sure what'll fit the best - I was thinking a Cummins V903 or a 92 series Detroit, maybe a 3408.
