Jay's Resin Wheels advent calender
avidinha replied to avidinha's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Day 12 Voodoo GT350 5.2L & 20/21 inch Weld Racing S76 The last one had a bonus item in it! Great detail on the engine, it would look great in pretty much any Ford. The wheels are nice, the rears are almost twice as wide as the fronts, they would look great on something with curvy quarter panels like a '70 Chevelle or a '67 Impala. This advent calendar was a lot of fun and I liked everything in it. If I'm able to find uses for everything, I'd do it again next year. Merry Christmas everyone! -
Thanks. This kit really tested my patience.

Day 11 20/21 inch GTA with brakes Crisp detail on the spokes, they're so thin I was a bit worried about getting the wheels out of the tires, but they're strong enough to withstand some handling. These would look great on a 3rd gen Firebird or maybe a Grand Prix. -

Day 10 17" '69-'70 Cougar replicas The detail is great, especially on the old school BFG tread. They would look great on a mild custom '69-'70 Cougar or maybe even a Thunderbird. -
I built this replica of Biff's '46 Ford from Back To The Future. I used the Testors kit. It came with parts to build it as a '46, '47 or '48. It was fun to learn the differences between the 3 years. I added the trim rings, the side mirror, the support bar between the bumper guards on the front bumper and printed my own plates. Everything else came in the box.

Day 9 18" beadlock wheels with 33" tires. The tread on the tires is great. They would look good on a truck with a mild lift. -

Day 8 Thunderbird Coyote 5.0 Great detail although it might be a little hard to paint because it's 1 piece. It would look good in pretty much any year Thunderbird. -

Day 7 20/21" U.S. Mags Rio Grande with brakes. I like the retro look of these. They would look good on a late 60s-early 70s Mopar. -

I was wondering that too. I was hoping someone else who got one might comment. -

Day 6, half way done. 15" American Racing Eldo with wide whites. More good quality. The spokes are crisp and thin, and the white walls are well done. These would look great on a 30s-50s Cadillac. -

Day 5 Buick LS The first of 3 engines. The detail on this is great, the Buick emblem on the blower is a nice touch. This would be great in a Buick restomod. -

Day 3 Bonzai staggered 20/21 wheels and tires with brakes. Same great quality. These would look good on a restomod. -
I recognize your blue one from the Impala SS forum. Here's my 9C1 and the replica I made of it.
-
Cool! I've had 7 (still have 2 Fleetwoods), people hate on the opti, but the only problem I've ever had was having to replace a cap and rotor.
-
Nice! I'm looking forward to seeing this come to life. I used to have a 9C1 with that same hood and a Roadie wagon in DGGM.

Day 1 20" staggered width billet wheels and tires with brakes. These look great, there's even lettering details on the sidewalls. They would look right at home on a 90's street truck. -
winter build Back To The Future time machine mark II
avidinha replied to avidinha's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I got some detailing done on some of the interior bits. And because I got the roof console done, I was able to install it and the Windows. I also got a few other bits detailed. More next time. -

I got the body unmasked. I painted these parts with some chrome paint. I'm going to paint over them with some transparent blue to try to make it look like they're lit up. I got the chassis finished and I went ahead and put the headlights and taillights in. I couldn't help doing this mock up. More next time. -
winter build Back To The Future time machine mark II
avidinha replied to avidinha's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I got some details painted on the chassis. And I got the body taped off so I could spray the flat black trim. While that was drying I glued the wheel backs to the wheels, added the trim to the windows and finished detailing the tail lights. More next time. -
Because it's hard to paint in the winter, every year I try to pick a build that doesn't need much paint, or at least paint that's not cold/humility sensitive. This year I picked the BTTF Delorean Mark II from polar lights because the body comes plated. I'll be building the 2014 issue of the kit. I got the chassis and some of the other bits painted flat black. I got the interior pieces painted gray. I painted the front and rear of the body gray, I black washed the wheels and headlights and I got some orang and red on the tail lights. More next time.

I picked up this advent calender from Jay's Resin Wheels on eBay. I thought it would be fun to post every day as I open them. It has 12 days, I'll start opening them on the 14th so I can open the last one on Christmas. I'm starting this post early in case anyone wants to get one too. https://www.ebay.com/itm/226427161355 It cost $120, so $10 for each item. It's supposed to have 3 engines and 9 sets of wheels. I've gotten a few sets of wheels from them in the past and they were all good quality. It came in a pretty nice box. I'll be posting the 1st item on the 14th, so follow along if you'd like to see what's in it.

Thanks. I don't know much about drag racing so I had to look it up. A factory XLR curb weight is 3,647lbs and it has the 409 from the '54 Chevy kit, so that would put it in B class, but if the builders were able to shave about 800lbs, that would put it in A class.
