  1. I'm building a replica of the A Team van from the original 1983 release. I got it from EBay a few years ago. It's pretty beat up, but still sealed. Everything inside is in pretty good shape considering how the outside looked. It's so old that the metal axle is rusted. The windshield was resting against the side of the box so it's a little scratched up, but I think I can polish it out. I was surprised by how many extra parts it came with. It even came with a B. A. figure. I'm going to swap out the tires for some from my parts box that already have the white letters on them. Still not correct for the 1:1 van, but better that what it came with. More next time.
  2. I built this replica of the El Camino from the movie El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. I used the Revell lowrider kit with wheels from a Revell Z28 and seats from a Corvette. I made the license plate, everything else came in the box.
  3. I built this replica of the Monte Carlo from Training Day from an old promo. The wheels are from EBay, the tires are from Revell, the White wall decals are from Pegasus, and the knockoffs and plate frames are from Hopin' Hydros. I lowered the suspension, added a screen correct steering wheel and made the plates.
  4. I built this from a resin body and a Revell Merc Woody as a donor kit. I lowered the suspension a bit. The hubcaps are resin, but I can't remember where I got them. I discovered that if you turn the Mercury hood ornament upside down, it almost looks like the Cadillac Flying Goddess hood ornament.
  5. Thanks. And thanks again for the plates.
  6. Thanks. The hood was one of the reasons it went back in the box. I used mod podge to glue the grill and hood sides on so I could manipulate them into position until I got them just right as the glue slowly dried.
  7. I built this from an AMT kit. I modified the kit grill, used wheels from an AMT '34 Ford and Bill (Spencer1984), probably doesn't remember because it was so long ago, made me a copy of the plate he made for his. This is one of those builds that kept driving me nuts and I kept putting it back in the box. To give you an idea of how long it took me to actually finish, it was in one of the checkerboard patterned Walmart exclusive boxes that I bought new. So if it looks like it's been sitting around for a while, that's because it has been.
  8. Does anyone have the decals from the Revell '49 Mercury Wagon they'd be willing to trade? I really just need the wood decals for the body. Thanks.
  9. I built this for the Cannonball run community build. I found this kit at my LHS and thought it would be fun to use for the cannonball build. It even came with a map of the route. Because the theme was restomod I upgraded the wheels, tires and brakes from a more modern Ferrari and eliminated the vent Windows. This kit is very well detailed for a former motorized toy. It has opening doors and headlights, the seatbelts came with the kit, it even has an opening bonnet with engine detail and posesable steering. Some of the parts were a bit fiddly, but it went together well for the most part.
  10. #18 I was able to get the body on and the last few bit put on to finish up the 512BB. I was nervous getting the body on but it came out okay. The kit came with filler pieces for the rear of the door jams. The last pieces were the exhaust tips. They just kinda glued on to the under body and didn't really attach to the rest of the exhaust. But once you turn the car over, you can't really tell. And hears a completed picture with all the opening parts open. The doors were hard to get open once the body was attached so when I close them to take the rest of the pictures, they'll probably stay closed. Here's a link to the finished thread.
  11. #18 The glasses with my new prescription came in, so I was able to get a little more work done on the 512BB. The doors are hinged with a metal pin that goes through the hinge on the door and into the floor then the top of the pin is captured with the dashboard. I also got the pop up headlight assemblies attached. They have switches that stick through the bottom of the model so they can be opened and closed. All I have left to do is install the main body onto the rest of the model. Hopefully I can get everything to line up properly. More next time.
  12. I just finished this one box stock from the Aoshima kit. The paint is Rustoleum color shift. And here are my Liberty Walk builds together.
  13. Nice! That color is great. I'm working on one, it's a fun kit.
  14. I've always liked the Aventador because of its sinister look and in flat black they just look downright evil. This is an awesome kit. The instruction manual is a full color magazine and some of the decals are printed on foil so they can conform to the surface.
  15. #18 The wheels I ordered came in. I had some tires from Trailer Trash Kustoms that fit just right. I had to narrow them a bit to fit the model. Pieces from an old hanger fit the wheels perfectly so I could use the metal axles from the kit. I drilled open the centers of the brake rotors to fit the new wheels and I found some calipers from a 360 Modena on eBay. The caliper that was molded to the front rotor is now the parking brake caliper on the rear rotors. They look really nice on the wheels. And here they are on the car. More next time.
  16. There were six kits in this series, there was also a Countach. I found the 512BB and the 308GTB at my LHS, they had several of both, but none of the others. The 308 is a full curbside, the 512 is a semi-curbside with an opening bonnet and the top of the engine visible. I don't think they were an official tie in. The guy in the 308 looks suspiciously like Clint Eastwood. I thought it would be fun to built the 512 for this year's cannonball and, theme permitting, maybe the 308 next year.
  17. #18 The doors are out of paint. I decided to delete the vent window to put a little mod in this restomod. And I was able to get the hinges and door panels in. Trimming the package tray worked a treat and the body fits nicely. I need to get the headlights out of paint before I can permanently attach it. I ordered some wheels off an F430. I think they'll look good. Hopefully they'll fit, we'll see when they get here. More next time.
  18. #18 I got the main body out of paint and started installing the glass. This kit has working pop up headlights. I held off on painting them until I got the body painted just in case there were some clearance issues. I'm glad I did, they're going to need a little tweaking. The rear of the body has to slide in between the engine and the package tray. I think I'm going to have to shave the package tray back a bit so it will fit properly. More next time.

I built this from an old Lindberg kit, the awful one with the terrible translucent plastic. I started this as a design study and wasn't planning on building it completely. I wanted to see how the proportions would look if I moved the rear of the roof back and extended the doors 6 scale inches. I ended up liking it so much, I went ahead and built it. I modified the chassis from a Revell '41 Willys Street Rod and the wheels and tires are from an AMT Phantom Vickie.
  21. A buddy of mine gave me this kit years ago when I daily drove a 1:1 M3. He had cut open the hood, trunk and drivers door and I just wasn't able to save the body. When I ran across this resin wagon transkit on eBay I knew it was the perfect solution to save the kit. My buddy passed away a few years ago, so I wasn't able to show him the finished model, but i know he'd like it. The license plate is the name of the model club we were in.
  22. #18 Spring has finally sprung and brought some nice painting weather. I'm going with a black/red two tone. Because of the way this kit was molded, the only parts I actually had to two tone were the doors. Because I got the lower half of the car painted I was able to get the interior installed. Considering this is a former motorized toy, the interior is amazingly detailed, it even came with the seat belts. I was also able to get bonnet installed. I'm thinking some modern large diameter Ferrari wheels would look right at home on this, hopefully I'll be able to find a nice set. More next time.
  23. I built this Revell T3 Westfalia using Tim Kolankiewicz's tips from issue #213 and a bunch of orange stuff I had from my T2 build. I made the plates, everything else came from the box. And here she is with her big sister.
  24. That's way cool. It reminds me of a truck that would drive around the city I used to live in. It was all different colors, like yours, and had a sign on the back that said "this truck was built with all used parts" then had the name of the wrecking yard and their phone number.
  25. #18 I started on the interior. This kit came with a sheet meant to be cut into 2mm strips to make seatbelts. It also came with hardware for the buckles. I'm going with a tan interior with a black dash and carpet. Another cool feature of this kit is that the floor trim is molded separately from the floor pan. It makes it a lot easier to have a different color carpet like many of the 1:1 cars do. More next time.
