  1. I built this from the Fujimi kit. It's basically box stock except for some repairs I had to make, the only modification I made was to fill in the holes for the license plate on the front bumper. The paint is Rustoleum color shift with Rustoleum clear. Here's the WIP thread.
  2. Jimmy Flintstone already did the work for you, not a bad price either. https://jimmyflintstonestudios.com/NB166--2007-Charger-Magnum-Wagon_p_237.html
  3. The kit came with window masks and the ones for the door windows made for great templates to make the new Windows. Here they are with the frit painted on and the masks removed. And here's a snark peak at the paint. More next time.
  4. The quarter windows don't roll down on this car, so I would have to make those anyway and I figure it would be just as easy to make them and the door windows one piece.
  5. Now that all the easy stuff is out of the way, I have to figure out what I'm going to do with this mess. I went ahead and glued it back together figuring I could at least use it as a template. While I was gluing it together I noticed that the rear window was intact. I'm going to try to cut the rear window out and use it and I figure it won't be too difficult to make side windows out of some flat clear stock, so I only need to figure out the windshield. I'd been working on a Cadillac XLR from Jimmy Flintstone and I remembered it came with 2 sets of vacuformed windows. I tried one of the windshields on the Skyline and it was almost perfect. I'm going to cut some windows and use the kit window masks and see how they come out. More next time.
  6. Right?! I thought the damage was kind of suspicious to have just been caused in shipping. But I did get a refund, so whatever. ?‍♀️
  7. I got the chassis assembled, it was pretty strait forward. I also got the interior finished. It was only 6 pieces and 2 decals. I did a little detail painting and made a 3rd brake light with some BMF and a red sharpie. I got all the body parts in primer, the paint I'm using requires a black base. More next time.
  8. I'm about half way done scratch building the service bed.
  9. Would have been down for this, but I already started mine.
  10. Since my chassis repair worked out, I'm going to go ahead and build it up per the instructions. Even though there's not much detail in the chassis and the car sits so low it would be hard to see anyway, I couldn't help but do a little detail painting. I also painted the brakes and the springs to add some color. I went ahead and black washed the grill and exhaust tips while I was at it. The way the body attaches durring final assembly allowed me to install the bumpers and side skirts before paint, which makes things a little easier. More next time.
  11. I was able to repair the chassis. The break was pretty clean and it wasn't bent or warped. I ran a bead of glue across the top where it wouldn't be seen. And used a couple of scrap pieces of plastic to give it some extra strength. The interior sits up off the chassis a little bit, so it still fits with the extra plastic. More next time.
  12. Here's what I'm working with. Out of all the parts that were damaged, only 2 didn't have unbroken counterparts. There was an extra dash and interior tub. The base model bumpers were damaged, but the Nismo bumpers were fine. I wanted to use the Nismo bumpers anyway, so that was lucky. Now here's where I get unlucky. The chassis was broken in half. And the windows are smashed. I think I can salvage the chassis, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the windows.
  13. I ordered this kit online and it didn't survive the trip. The seller gave me a refund, so that's no big deal. This is a 2 in 1 kit so it has a lot of extra parts and I want to see if I can salvage it.
  14. I built this from the AMT kit with decals from the Revell kit. It's my 3rd build from the first movie.
  15. I built this from the AMT kit that's been in my stash since I bought it new in 2003. When I bought it I had no intention of building it and I took the engine, the wheels & tires and the NOS tanks out of it. I recently remembered that I never did use the wheels & tires for that other project, so if I glued the hood shut, and grabbed a couple of NOS tanks out of another kit, I could still build it. Because it doesn't have an engine, I didn't intend on opening the hood vents, but after having to strip the hood twice because I screwed up detailing them, I decided it would be easier to just cut them out.
  16. I finally had a chance to get some pictures out in the Sun.
  17. I built this box stock mostly to try out this prismatic paint. Prismatic paint usually looks best on cars with a lot of curves or cars with a lot of sharp edges, and this car has both. There is a lot more green in person that the camera wasn't picking up.
  18. Ahhh, that explains the tab for the intercooler. Thanks for the info!
  19. You're right, it's curbside with very simplified chassis. Yes, it's the kit at the end of the video.
  20. Thanks, it was a fun kit to build. It was actually one of those former motorized toy kits.
  21. Sorry, no wip pics, but here's a video of the real car so you can at least see what I was going for.
  22. Thanks. They just sent me the wrong color. it's supposed to use a black base, I tried a white base on a spare trunk lid just to see, and it's still pretty dark. This is what it's supposed to look like.
  23. I built this from the Tamiya kit. The wheels and tires are from a BRZ. It came with a flat block off plate for the front bumper that had some mesh detail molded in. That was a little disappointing, especially for a Tamiya kit. I notices the chassis had a little tab that looked like an intercooler was supposed to mount to, so I grabbed a spare I had from an R34 kit, and it fit perfectly. It made me wonder why they didn't include one, it seems like they were planning on it. I special ordered a can of Midnight Purple II, but what I got was just a really dark purple. Because it was supposed to be a color shift paint, I used a black base, which made it even darker. If you squint real hard and use your imagination, maybe you can see the purple.
  24. Thanks. Yeah, this kit had 3 grills, 3 tail light panels, 2 sets of mirrors, 2 sets of seats, extra speakers and stereos and a bunch of other stuff.
  25. I built this from the Aoshima kit. I made the door panels out of sheet styrene and aluminum bmf to replicate the sheet metal interior of the real car and made the steering column out of styrene rod. This was a simple kit and was fun to build. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
