  1. That's way cool.
  2. I built this from the Imex kit. I lowered the suspension and used some 3d printed wheels and tires I got on eBay. It had some fitment issues, but it ended up building into a nice model.
  3. I grew up hearing stories about the '56 Chevy my dad's family had when he was a kid while grandpa was stationed in Japan. My favorite story was when they went fishing it was part of their routine to outrun the cops since the Japanese police didn't have anything that could keep up with the Chevy. I didn't know that it was a wagon until we moved grandma in with us so we could take care of her and I saw this picture of her and my aunt next to it. It doesn't seem like anyone currently makes a 4 door conversion and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it myself, so I built the Nomad out of the box. Grandma said the car was yellow and black, but couldn't remember what color the interior was, so I guessed. I added some Japanese plates out of my parts box. Grandma said that when grandpa got his orders to go back stateside, they sold the wagon to a funeral home who planned on reupholstering it then using it for the car that transports the mourners.
  4. Thanks for sharing that story. One of the things I love about this hobby is hearing everyone's cool car stories.
  5. This is a really odd kit. It's motorized, so it has a really shallow interior and it has a one piece body. It didn't come with a rear bumper, so I left the front one off. It also didn't come with any quarter windows, so I had to make some. It came with right and left drive dashboards, 3 steering wheel options, 4 headlight options, 2 mirror options, 2 sets of fog lights and a bunch of other stuff. All in all it was a fun little kit that looks cool on my shelf.
  6. Nice truck! It looks very familiar.
  7. If you want them, PM me your address and I'll send them to you.
  8. I've enjoyed following your build. When I saw the wheels you were trying to replicate, I knew I had seen something similar in a kit. I finally remembered. These are in a Lindberg '40 Ford I'm working on. Still not exact, but maybe a little closer.
  9. Nice build! It reminds me of the guy from Texas that sold his truck and it somehow ended up in the hands of Al-Qaeda with the name and number of his business still on the side.
  10. #15 I got the interior mostly done, I just have to figure out a back seat. The truck is molded in red and the van is molded in silver, so I was a little worried about the red bed bleeding through. I went ahead and painted the hood and the tailgate and everything seems to be fine. I thought I had some bleed through, but I realized maybe I should change out of my red shirt and look again. More next time.
  11. Thanks, I just used paint and clear coat.
  12. #15 I got the frame and the fuel tank boxed in. I'm estimating the fuel tank capacity to be about 50 gallons now. And here's a mockup of the cab and bed in place. More next time.
  13. #15 I finished the engine, I'm not going to bother to detail it any more, even with the hood open you wouldn't be able to see it. In researching this build I found that Centurion cobbled these together from whatever they had. Some had Ford beds, some had Chevy beds and some had custom made fiberglass beds. Some had F-350 frames, and some had stretched frames from the van. I decided I would stretch the van frame. Because I'm stretching it almost 2 inches, I thought I'd use some brass rod to give it some strength. I also mocked up the suspension to make sure I got the wheelbase right. I also thought I'd go ahead and stretch the fuel take since I've got some more room. More next time.
  14. Funny you should mention that, I'm planning on stretching the fuel tank to about 2 1/2 times it's original size and I'm going to add the auxiliary tank from the truck.
  15. #15 Because the van is 1/25 scale and the truck is 1/24 scale, I was worried that the bed would be too wide, so I mocked up the bed and due to pure dumb luck, it lines up perfectly. I also scribes the extra seem I would need to change the sliding door into barn doors. More next time.
  16. Nice comeback!
  17. #15 I got some of the subassemblies and other odds and ends painted. I'm going to need to mock up the suspension to get the wheelbase right. I cut the body and floor pan down and glued some sheet plastic to the back of the body. The kit comes with 2 sets of stripe decals, I'm trying to figure out a way to combine the 2 sets to make 1 set for the Centurion. More next time.
  18. I built this from the Revell Mudslinger kit. It's a snap kit and had been built when I got it. The only paint on it was on the fender flares, but the purple pond made quick work of that. I filled in the holes for the roof rack and lights. The wheels are 3d printed and the tires are from Trailer Trash Kustomz.
  19. Happy New Year everyone! Here are the builds I was able to put on the display shelf in 2021. 1956 Delray 2002 Escalade 1996 Accord (my 2021 Canonball entry) 1955 Bel Air 1970 Impala West Batmobile Clooney Batmobile 1969 Impala 1951 Fleetline Eddie Van Halen's truck Cadillac STS-V Volkswagen Type 2 triple cab KITT Shelby GT500KR Custom Cadillac lowrider 2002 Escalade
  20. Nice save!
  21. Count me in! While the late 70"s wasn't a great time for cars, I was surprised at the variety of '77 kits available. I'm going to make an E350 Centurion with a '77 Ford van and parts from a F350 dually.
  22. I built this one alongside my lowrider. The Tiffany blue seems to work on a number of different Cadillacs. I color matched wheels from my parts box and used Pegasus tires. I left the running boards off, running boards on a lowers truck seem kinda pointless. As I was installing the driver's window I got a big glue smear on it, so I left the front door windows out.
  23. Thanks. 1:1 Cadillacs with this front end and trim were only available in 4 door, so no matter how you build this kit, it would be custom.
  24. I had the idea to paint this Cadillac Tiffany blue and a friend suggested that I paint the trim pearl white to look like the ribbon on the box. This started out as the Donks kit with the diamond tuck interior. I had an extra chrome front suspension from the lowrider version and I used a rear axle from my parts box. I added a little positive camber to the front wheels. The wheels and tires are from Pegesus. I keep hoping that Revell will put the diamond tuck interior back in with every re-release, hopefully one of these days they will.
