  1. Thanks. It's Rustoleum Hunter green.
  2. She's out of paint. I got the fender flares painted and most of the decals on, she just needs chrome and final assembly.
  3. I agree, the X pattern was kinda lazy on their part. It's one of those things that's not really noticeable, but once you see it, you can't un-see it.
  4. Thanks! When my sister picked this one up they also had one of the new ones (the blue one) so they grabbed it too. I just need the other 2 and I'll have the whole set.
  5. Thanks. It's a Fujimi kit. Yes the headlights are chrome with separate clear lenses.
  6. I built this from the Fujimi kit that I didn't know existed until my sister and brother in law found it at a thrift shop. The kit didn't come with a license plate and the rear of the car is never shown in the movie, so I grabbed a California plate from my parts box. Everything else came in the kit.
  7. I got the carbon fiber decal on the hood. It gave the setting solution a run for its money, but it turned out okay. The decal wasn't quite wide enough, I'm hoping it won't be too noticeable once it's done. I'm going to let it set up over night then wash it and see how it reacts to a light clear coat.
  8. We finally got some decent weather. Here's a sneak peek at the paint color.
  9. I'm calling this one an Escalade EST. I picked this one up on eBay as a failed project. The truck conversion had already been done. It had already been painted twice when I got it. I stripped the paint and redid the body work. The chrome and clear pieces were trashed or non existent, luckily what I wasn't able to save, I had in my parts box. There were no wheels, tires or suspension, so I grabbed some wheels and tires from my parts box and glued them right to the wheel wells and I used some huge brakes to hide that there's nothing behind the wheels. I used a tail gate from an EXT. The roll pan came with the project, but it looks like it's from the Revell Waverider kit. The exhaust tips are made from styrene tubes and chromed with a Molotow pen.
  10. I built this box stock from the most recent issue. It was a pretty easy kit with low parts count. The only problem I had was I'm just not used to building anything that big. And here's a mock up with a load of cars and the cab I'm working on for it.
  11. I just finished this from the Polar Lights kit.The weather here hasn't been warm enough to paint since October and it doesn't look like it's going to be for a few more weeks. I was feeling bummed because I haven't been able to finish a kit then I remembered I had this kit in my stash and it didn't need painting because it was plated. I built it box stock with only some detail painting. There were a lot of details I could have added/fixed/improved, but I didn't want to go down that rabbit hole. Now I have this one and the Mark I, I'll just need to get my hands on the Mark II & IV and I'll have the whole set.
  12. I got the interior done. I thought it was odd that the side panels had this pleated detail, but nothing else, no arm rests, no window cranks, not even a door seam. I used some brown paint to simulate the wood trim and installed the seats, shifter and e brake. The kit came with gauge decals, they are nice but I had a harder time putting them in than I thought I would. All I have left to do is paint but we're getting 6" to 10" of snow in the next couple days, so I probably won't be able to post another update for a while.
  13. I colored some of the lights with appropriate colored sharpies. I painted the calipers and springs red for a splash of color, even though they mostly can't be seen I painted some of the molded in details and added the exhaust and suspension finishing the chassis. More next time.
  14. Nice build! I did have to sand the lower a arms just a bit to keep them from rubbing on the wheels.
  15. Stay tuned, I'm going to be using yellow, orange and red sharpies for the lights.
  16. Thanks. The wheels came silver and I just colored the centers with a gold sharpie.
  17. I got the stance where I want it and we had enough of a break in the weather to get some primer on the body. Because I raised the mounting location for the top of the struts, I had to make spacers for the bottom so they could connect to the lower a arms. I also notched the frame to provide clearance for the steering linkage. More next time.
  18. I painted the wheel centers gold, I like the look and I think it will go well with the paint color I have picked out. I wanted to get the front down a little more so I drilled where the top of the strut mounts so it could pass through. I then glued a piece of scrap plastic to the top and drilled a hole so the strut could mount like it was originally intended, giving about another scale inch drop. The kit came with 2 steering wheels, 2 spoilers and 2 sets of front seats, I'm going with the ones on the left. More next time.
  19. I trimmed the wheels a bit to narrow the width so the tires would fit under the fenders. There were spacers in the front fender wells where the struts attach that i trimmed flush to bring the front down. The rear has a promo style metal axle, so I just opened the hole it goes in a bit more to lower the rear. And here's a mock up. I think I'm going to try to bring the front down a bit more. More next time.
  20. I picked up this kit and took it to my grandma so she could read the box for me. After translating for me she got really excited and told me she couldn't wait to see it finished so I told her I would only work on it when I was with her. This is a real simple kit with a low parts count, so the hardest part is going to be waiting for painting weather. The box art shows these over sized fender flares that I don't much care for, so I was happy to see that they weren't molded to the body, it just has the factory rear fender flares. I think if I narrow the track width and lower the suspension a bit, the kit wheels will look good. I was also happy to see that it came with a carbon fiber hood decal, because I was going to do that anyway. More next time.
  21. Thanks. The only '71 parts I ended up using were the tail light, and they dropped right in.
  22. Thanks. No pics of the interior. The interior is just box stock. The movie car looked like it was actually in pretty good shape and they just dirtied it up a bit.
  23. I built this from the original issue of the AMT kit with decals from the latest issue. The newer decals are a lot nicer than the old ones. The raised white letter tires are from the AMT '77 Ford cruising van, everything else is out of the box.
  24. This is a replica of the car from the movie Dirty Work staring Norm McDonald. I built it from the Revell '72 Cutlass convertible with parts from the '71 442 to make it look more like a '71. The front wheels are from my parts box and I made the plates.
  25. Nice! I bet opening those doors was especially hard with the separate roof.
