  1. Nice build! I did have to sand the lower a arms just a bit to keep them from rubbing on the wheels.
  2. Stay tuned, I'm going to be using yellow, orange and red sharpies for the lights.
  3. Thanks. The wheels came silver and I just colored the centers with a gold sharpie.
  4. I got the stance where I want it and we had enough of a break in the weather to get some primer on the body. Because I raised the mounting location for the top of the struts, I had to make spacers for the bottom so they could connect to the lower a arms. I also notched the frame to provide clearance for the steering linkage. More next time.
  5. I painted the wheel centers gold, I like the look and I think it will go well with the paint color I have picked out. I wanted to get the front down a little more so I drilled where the top of the strut mounts so it could pass through. I then glued a piece of scrap plastic to the top and drilled a hole so the strut could mount like it was originally intended, giving about another scale inch drop. The kit came with 2 steering wheels, 2 spoilers and 2 sets of front seats, I'm going with the ones on the left. More next time.
  6. I trimmed the wheels a bit to narrow the width so the tires would fit under the fenders. There were spacers in the front fender wells where the struts attach that i trimmed flush to bring the front down. The rear has a promo style metal axle, so I just opened the hole it goes in a bit more to lower the rear. And here's a mock up. I think I'm going to try to bring the front down a bit more. More next time.
  7. I picked up this kit and took it to my grandma so she could read the box for me. After translating for me she got really excited and told me she couldn't wait to see it finished so I told her I would only work on it when I was with her. This is a real simple kit with a low parts count, so the hardest part is going to be waiting for painting weather. The box art shows these over sized fender flares that I don't much care for, so I was happy to see that they weren't molded to the body, it just has the factory rear fender flares. I think if I narrow the track width and lower the suspension a bit, the kit wheels will look good. I was also happy to see that it came with a carbon fiber hood decal, because I was going to do that anyway. More next time.
  8. Thanks. The only '71 parts I ended up using were the tail light, and they dropped right in.
  9. Thanks. No pics of the interior. The interior is just box stock. The movie car looked like it was actually in pretty good shape and they just dirtied it up a bit.
  10. I built this from the original issue of the AMT kit with decals from the latest issue. The newer decals are a lot nicer than the old ones. The raised white letter tires are from the AMT '77 Ford cruising van, everything else is out of the box.
  11. This is a replica of the car from the movie Dirty Work staring Norm McDonald. I built it from the Revell '72 Cutlass convertible with parts from the '71 442 to make it look more like a '71. The front wheels are from my parts box and I made the plates.
  12. Nice! I bet opening those doors was especially hard with the separate roof.
  13. I had way too many stalled projects so I made myself a deal that I wouldn't open any new kits in 2022. These are mostly old wips or restorations.
  14. Nice build! That's a way cool subject.
  15. That's a great color combo! Nice work!
  16. I made this by molding the front clip off a Revell Escalade to a Revell Waverider Silverado.
  17. Thanks. The paint is Rustoleum harbor blue.
  18. Thanks. I just used a black sharpie around the edge of the windshield.
  19. I built this as a replica of the Thunderbird from the movie La Jamba. I built it mostly box stock from an older issue of the Revell kit (not the La Bamba kit). I modified the door trim to make it look more like a '59 and made my own plates.
  20. This is a rebuilder I got from a friend. The chrome on the front bumper was in bad shape and the rear bumper was broken, it didn't have any glass or tail lights. It was also missing the engine and the wheels and tires. I was lucky and found nos chrome bumpers on eBay. I had a windshield in my spares box that fit and I made the rear window from an old food container. I made the tail lights from putty, I smoothed them out, foiled them and colored them with a red sharpie. It's got wheels /tires and plates from my spares box. I didn't feel confident enough in my masking abilities to paint the center grill bar and I didn't want to ruin my new bumper.
  21. I built this box stock from the Monogram kit. It was a pretty decent kit for being almost as old as I am.

    VW Beetle

Thanks. I used this kit. I think they're the same tooling though.
  23. Thanks. Sorry, no wip pics.
  24. I built this from an AMT kit. It has a Trailertrash Kustoms suspension that I modified to get a little more lift. The wheels are 26" from an Uptown Escalade and the tires are 40" from a Tumble Batmobile.
