Couldn't you just modify 2 stock frames to make a beefier frame that would match a COE frame? Just a thought. I figure you'll need 2 cabs for that extra cab anyways so might as well put the rest of the parts to use as well right? There was just a thread on a Chevy COE a few months back on the HAMB forums. Heres the link and some others... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=250494 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=219018 http://www.classiccoe.com/spanky.htm http://good-times.webshots.com/album/562695973ulKaWB http://community.webshots.com/user/snubnose4754 http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1115995249052570246OMiErm http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1115995760052570246JnjCKb

I'd be in but I just started on my Impala/ Lincoln wagon project a couple of days ago so I'm out
-
I sort of warped the roof trying to get it to fit so it looks like this might have a little bit of scratch building involved. I'm not giving up on this one though, this is a second attempt at making something cool out of something I would never usually build (The Impala that is). I'll update with some more pics later. As for what I have planned for it...I'm thinking big rims/brakes, slammed out and maybe some 59 El Camino wheel Wells or some sort of crazy front end if I can get them to look right. A Little Boyd looking (again, usually something I would never do) and a little bit of an old school flare. I just dont want it to look tacky. So I'm pretty much planning as I go.

I picked this Impala up in the Clearance section at Michael's for a few bucks a couple of months back. Now that I've finally finished unpacking at my new place I decided I'd get to work on something worth finishing. I cut the roof off with the intentions of making a roadster out of it. I didn't like the way it was looking so I was about to throw it in my parts bin and wait till I got something else going when I remembered I had an old Lincoln Continental Wagon roof laying around that I never used. Well here is the result. Excuse the horrible pics, I'm not sure what is going on with my camera at the moment but you get the idea. Now heres where the issue lies....Ahh the joys of custom work. Its more of advice needed than an issue but yeah.... I got the roof roughly the way I want it but the impala body get wider in the middle and the Lincoln roof does not. My problems are the glass fitting if I widen the roof, and the B pillar not lining up to the rear of the back door if I shorten it in the front. The only thing I can think of ot make it fit is force the roof out a little in the middle (then the glass wont fit...again) or to widen the body a little and pull the quarters back. Here is a rough version of what I mean in MS Paint..... Basically what I want to do is get the roof to fit without moving the B Pillar or cutting the glass. Any suggestions?

"Other" forum back in business!!!!

I've tried to log in/re register a few times with no luck. Seriously my only thought is if it takes an email to every member so people can figure out how to long on then maybe your forums need some serious work. I think I had like 2 post over there though it was good for an occasional lurk it's still not worth the effort. They should have spend less time deciding what colors to make the board and more on actually getting it working. -
Pics aren't working for some reason.

That might be kind of interesting...think i'd have to convert it to a two door though inless I'm missing something

Not being made with the intentions of Stuart Little driving it?

Went back by and no more impalas, looked pretty much picked threw. There was a old Ford pickup (56?) that had been opened and a Mustang Concept car but that was it.

And it still looks like a clown car exploded. I'll stick with this forum thanks. -
I dont usually say this because I'm a jerk like that but I honestly clicked on the link and thought I was looking at reference pics for a second. VERY nice job

As you may have seen in the General Section, I picked up a Revell Impala SS kit at Michael's for 2 bucks. This isn't a car I'd normally build and I honestly dont know that I'd ever own one but I figured it would be fun to mess with. I figured my El Camino project had frustrated me enough over stupid little things so I sat it aside for the moment. Several things crossed my mind. I thought about doing a Panel style conversion. Thought about doing a station wagon then thought it would look to much like a Roadmaster. Then I even thought about going the "Donk" look but then I sobered up and came to my senses. Then it hit me....Convertible. I'm going to jump on Photoshop before I make it a for sure thing and I still need to figure out a source for the convertible parts but I think I may just do it. If I do screw it up, it was only 2 bucks. I've spent more on dumber ideas. Any suggestions on the top?

There was a fast and the furious eclipse when I went back, a NASCAR of some sort....Du Pont? no clue on that one. Another lightning F150. And a few Die-Cast "kits" One was a 32 coupe of some kind and the other was some Foose thing...didnt pay much attenting. but that was it. I have to go back in the morning to pick some stuff up, if anyone wants any of the ones I mentioned shoot me a PM and I'll grab em.

I'm loving this build, though all of your builds are excellent I have to admit though, I thought for a second we had you caught. I have never seen that purple on a 54 or 55 Ford and thought you might have forgot to open the windows when gluing when you came up with it but sure enough I found one on google. Keep up the great work.

I was in the Folsom store yesterday looking for sculpting stuff for one of my classes and spotted the clearance section and decided to look. I was just about to keep on going because I didn't spot anything as usual and I looked down and what did I spy.... A TON of models all under 10 bucks. I would have bought the lot of them but a few of them I couldn't see building ever and I cant really afford to blow money since I'm moving. I sifted threw them and picked out these two. Not bad for 2 bucks each eh? Just figured I'd show what I got and give folks a heads up.

More than likely VW. They've even gone after Volkswagen enthusiast clubs for using the word "volkswagen" or "VW" Which also has me thinking.... I wonder if thats why this one is no longer made... BTW, the wording in my first post was wrong, I dont own the actual kit, a friend just sent me that picture. Wish I did though, despite the decals that come with it, it appears to be a pretty ###### cool kit.
-
Wow, I really wasn't expecting this type of response, I was honestly just curious if it was real or not. I googled IMAI and searched for them on ebay to find some very cool and different kits. I've never seen them in stores before so I'll have to keep an eye online to get some of there stuff I guess. I'd love to get my hands a few of the kit I posted just for the wide array of options available in it.
-
I say model, though it does look like one I've seen before in real life....My brain hurts.
-
A friend of mine just sent me this and I cant find any more info on it. I'm honestly more interested in the tow truck option on the side but I thought I was losing my mind for a second when I saw the Beetle on the main cover.

Wow, I was just on there site and must have over looked them. Thanks for the heads up... Thats too funny about your mom.
