Was one ever made? I've been looking for a couple for an idea I have had brewing but cant find anything.

Dupli-Color's 3 step paint is called "Mirage" http://www.duplicolor.com/products/mirage.html I used it a few years back on a clock I made for a friend and it worked great, just make sure you use it when it is very low moisture in the air and the surface is SPOTLESS. I had to re-do the clock because it showed everything! The other biggie is to follow the instructions on the paint exactly as they say. It can be a little tricky believe it or not. Not the best pic of it, but here is the clock.

wow! I'll admit it...It's so stupid looking I thought it was fake...Shows what I know.

seem to be working for me. I had issues there too, I've stuck with photobucket since then. Nice job so far. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on this one.

WOW! I don't usually comment unless I really really like something...this car qualifies! Very nice job! I googled it to compare and I'll say it. I'm impressed! You should be proud, I know I would be.

Went with model.

I dipped it in Castrol and decided to re do some body work, not much else to report yet.

real, Even if the pic is photoshopped the colors are way to close to real to be a fake. I saw this color combo in Carmel at the Concours about two years ago. Saw two actually, here is the other...

It took the paint off all the way down when I tried the thinner. Looks like It's getting the dip.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the black off of the top of the cowl? On a full size car I'd just buff it off but this is just a little smaller and I don't want to ruin the paint underneath. The smaller they are the harder they are to fix. sheesh.

Was messing with my "colorblind" El Camino project and decided it wasn't something I wanted to put the effort into. I thought about throwing it up on E Pay but then thought about it and decided to do something different. I grabbed an old Diorama I had done for a school awhile back and yanked the Civic off of it. and thats where I begin. Gonna go Roll Cage and a Turbo V-8 that came out of the El Camino. Obviously I'm going to have to shorten the frame so it will fit, also narrow the rear end so I can fit some slicks under it. Also going to need to fill the sun roof and some other little minor things as I go along. Here is what I am starting with. Enjoy!

Wow! Very nice job! especially on the trim and emblems.

Gonna have to give the "future" a shot next time around, sounds like a good product. Not much to update on but I did cut the hole out of the hood for the air scoop to stick threw. Not sure which motor I'm going with yet, so I'll try them both. Thats one good thing about having two of the same kit

stripped down the frame and threw some satin black on it, the suspension and engine just so I have a clean start. Painted some rims from my 59' project gloss black, just so I have something for it to roll on till I figure out what I'm doing exactly.

I couldn't take any more! This suckers getting a restoration. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9838

While helping my parents move I came across an old El Camino I had done as a kid It was done in green (which I cant see) I must have used a tube of glue on the thing and the rims looks like something you'd find at the local discount rim and tire shop in the Ghetto (all 3 of em anyways) So I decided it was time for a re-do. I'll post progress on this as I go along. Enjoy! This is what it started out as. Here is how it sits now.... I've got my work cut out for me The original post http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...;showtopic=9661

Before I went back to school I worked for an interior designer for about 8 years and also worked for a few body shops doing detail/finish work while I was doing the designer assistant thing. Right now I'm a starving artist and a full time student/ Graphic Design major

No, I haven't but I might give it a shot the next time around. Just threw on my first coats of the blue color. May re-do them though, I got impatient and got a run in the paint

Don't remember exactly when I made this, I'm assuming somewhere in my early teens but I figured I'd share for laughs. The funny thing is I'm colorblind and can't see green. The other thing worth a laugh is that I only like 59 and 60 El Camino's... I must have made this with the intentions of giving it to someone but I don't remember....

Voted real because of little things that stick out to me....It's a toughy though.

Old Project Back From The Dead!......197(?) Ford Pinto
kk916 replied to TimKustom's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Reminds me of the one I used to see in San Francisco all the time.. -
I'm using "Model Master 2965 Turquoise" for the main color, it does look the same as yours, great minds think alike I guess. For the white top I'm using " Tamiya TS-45 Pearl White" I hope I dont have any issues with the two different paints.

Since I'm finally out of my cast I decided to get back to work on this project. I was dremeling a seam off the other day and had a pretty nasty accident right by the rear fin, I ended up buying another kit to replace the body. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the hole where the blower sticks threw as an option on the hood? I think I can do it, I just don't want to do more work if I mess it up or there is an easier way. (guess I have a spare at this point but still)
