Actually, the Jalpa was the Silhouette's replacement. It had a bigger engine, better interiors, different fender flares, wheels and engine lid. But the chassis and suspension are basically the same, and they both come from the Urraco. Rocky's car was a Jalpa. The Silhouette is very rare. Only about 50 Silhouettes were made in '76-'77. The Jalpa was made from '82-'88 and about 400 were made. Thanks,

Two more suggestions I forgot to mention: When I did the white stripes on the GS Corvette, I did a light coat of clear on the blue base so if there was any bleed thru, it would polish out easily without affecting the base color. I have also heard (but haven't tried myself) that after you lay down the tape, you can apply a coat of clear so it will seal the tape and prevent bleeding under. Once the stripes are painted you carefully go over the tape edge with a new #11 blade. One final comment: Overspray gets everywhere. Remember to mask not just the surrounding area but the whole body as well. It will save on cleanup later. Here are some pics of my Grand Sport C5 with painted stripes. Hope this helps. Thanks,

Hello, As a rule of thumb, if you can smell it it not quite ready yet. Lacquer dries fast but I have no idea about a dehydrator. I have done that in lacquer without a dehydrator within a week but I'm sure it is less than that. As for the tape itself: I use Tamiya tape for masking over paint. I have heard people using bare metal foil. I've also heard 3M fine automotive tape is also very good for this. Whatever you use, make sure it is properly laid down to prevent bleeding under. Thanks,

Jon, I like following up your projects and appreciate to see a lot of "behind the scenes" work you go thru. Those seats are masterpieces. Have you considered having them casted in resin? I know a couple good and reputable resin casters that would be willing to make copies of your seats in resin. I for one would be interested in a few sets. Thanks! I'm not sure yet on wheels and tires. I have a few choices I need to look at. I want it to be elegant yet sporty and agressive at the same time. As for the color, this is not 40th anniversary Ruby red, but rather 2003 50th anniversary red. They look similar but Ruby is metallic while this one should be tricoat pearl and just a hint darker. All but the most sophisticated (and expensive) flash units are worthless in these conditions. My big flash unit was hopeless at this zoom setting and shutter speeds. You can see in the 4th picture my flash only got to the concrete barrier. But people were shooting flashes everywhere so I guess the drivers are ok with it. We were about 40-50 feet from the track itself. Thanks,

The Comprex supercharger is some type of a hybrid between a supercharger and a turbo. It is belt driven for bias, but exhaust drives most of the compression duties. It is a rather complex system to explain. Think of it as a zero lag turbo. But, to further confuse you: Here is the Abstract of the Comprex Supercharger patent: United States Patent 4563997 Abstract: A "comprex" supercharger, which has a rotor formed along its whole periphery with a plurality of axial cells wherein air introduced into the cells for supply to an internal combustion engine is compressed by engine exhaust gas introduced into the cells, is controlled by a control system such that a drive means for the rotor is controlled by an electronic control unit in response to output from engine operating condition sensors to control the rotational speed of the rotor so as to achieve optimum supercharging pressure to operating conditions of the engine. Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but.... Low light is always a challenge to photographers. Fast action is another challenge. Combine both and you have quite a challenge for a photographer. The best race car is worthless without a good griver. So is photo equipment.
