  1. Hello, The Corvette is 1/25 and the Talbot is 1/24 so the comparison may not be that dramatic. But it is still a big car. Thanks, Ismael
  2. Hello, Wilson Pre-selector gearbox and driveshaft. Once connected to the engine it will properly align to the centerline. Thanks, Ismael
  3. Hello, Talbot's chassis. Un-necessarily complex 15 parts. Hard to see but there are 5 colors here: Flat black, gloss black enamel, gloss black acrylic, Obsidian, Gunmetal Thanks, Ismael
  4. Hello, Ready for clear. Thanks, Ismael
  5. Hello, Everything is fine in Paintville. The offender was sanded off and leveled using Micromesh polishing pads. A good clean and another very light coat of paint was airbrushed. Since humidity is ultra high (any more and I'll grow gills), it dries a bit hazy. That's not an issue. At this stage I am looking for smoothness, not gloss. Still pending color sanding, clear coat and polishing. So there are still plenty of opportunities to screw it up ? Thanks, Ismael
  6. Hello, So, in accordance with Murphy's law, 3 seconds after laying the most perfect coat of the most challenging color (black), a STUPID mosquito crashes into it... Thanks, Ismael
  7. Hello, Engine progress. Thanks, Ismael
  8. Hello, Will soon be ready to try to start it ? Thanks, Ismael
  9. Hello, First, single color coat. Thanks, Ismael
  10. Hello, Moving along... Thanks, Ismael
  11. Hello, Slowly but surely. Geez! Carving out this from a block of metal was hard ? Nahh, just painted. ? Thanks, Ismael
  12. Hello, Here is something unusual. I recently got a 1/32 scale 1937 Chevy. It is the Life-Like kit from the early 70's which is a re-issue of the Pyro kit released in 1963. I was disappointed when I saw how crude the kit is. Multi piece body, no chrome, molded tires, no details. Very crude and basic. It is really not worth trying to improve on it. I mean, there are better '37 Chevy kits out there in other scales. So I had 2 options: Put it back into darkness, probably forever, or do something fun. How about a BOX STOCK stress-reliever non-serious build? Yeah, I can hear you laughing. I first thought of putting it together just glued without paint. But I can't get that far. Instead, this will be an exercise in the basics of surface prep and paint in between some more serious projects like the Talbot and others. I added 2 strips of bracing to keep the body tight against the fenders while gluing. I was going to remove them but it seems the don't interfere with anything so most likely will stay there. Glued all body parts (hood, both sides and deck lid). Started to blend the body joints. And here we are now. This may pop out every once in a while while working on other projects. Thanks, Ismael
  13. Hello, De-chromed valve covers and carbs. Worked some sink marks in the air filters. Thanks, Ismael
  14. Hello, First of all, I'm exhausted! Had to go to work to get some rest! ? The 2024 Puerto Rico Open Model Car and Collectibles show was a success. Model show with cars, aircraft, naval ships, dioramas, figures, modified diecasts, Gundam and more! Slot Car racetrack, Hot Wheels racetrack, RC dirt track, RC rock crawling obstacle, 1:1 show cars, bikes, tons of vendors, 501st Legion, etc. Two intense days where I was competing in the model show, photographing for the magazine and doing the airbrushing seminar. The seminar was a success! To the point the organizers asked if I could do it again on Sunday. But time was limited. I had to photograph close to 100 models including interviewing the modelers and filling out spec forms for the captions I'll use in the article. I was not able to video-record the seminar as initially intended. It was crowded and a bit chaotic with everything else going on. You are all invited to next year's event! I'll let you know the date as soon as it is set. Met an attendee from Michigan who said that just the 50 degrees difference in temperature was worth the trip ? Here are a few pictures from some of the attendees of the seminar. I think you can pick out who I am from the pics. ? Again, THANKS Gregg for sponsoring this! In Spanish but I'm sure you can decipher it. Carefully selected airbrushes to include every variation and type of mix/feed/action/ cup size Yes, I hauled my compressor and my trusty 30 years old air tank among other things. Had participants practice writing their name with a Bakery airbrush and food coloring. Convention Center regulations (and common sense) prohibit the use of automotive solvent paint in this demo. At the end, one of the participants asked if I could take a look at his airbrush that was not working properly. He brought it and we took it apart. Of course it was clogged with red paint. Always red paint! I had to scrape the needle with my pocket knife! But at the end he left with a working airbrush. It was a great experience! The rest of the weekend I was essentially doing this: Ohh and one more tiny little thing: My C7-R model won first place in the race car category to wrap up an intense weekend! Lookout for the coverage of this event in Model Cars Magazine. Thanks, Ismael
  15. Looking good! Have you considered the old "rubbing it in your fingers" trick to give it some shine? Thanks, Ismael
  16. Hello, Work continues on the body to ensure the hood pieces fit properly. May not look like, but there are a few days of work here. And this lump will eventually become an engine. Thanks, Ismael
  17. Hello, Repeat with me: BOX STOCK! So the hood halves are the second and third part I touch on this build. Already ditching some kit's parts and will attempt to hinge them... Only Heller would mold the body in one color and the hood in another color. Thanks, Ismael
  18. Steve, That is a fantastic story and a cool model in itself! Thanks, Ismael
  19. Hello, It turned out beautiful! I just started this kit. I hope mine comes out half as good as yours. Thanks, Ismael
  20. Hello again, After a good wash and dry, a quick coat of primer reveals the real progress showing where more work is needed and where it is getting there. Leveling and rescribing the trunk. Thanks, Ismael
  21. Hello, Looks awful now, but patience. Butterflies start as ugly worms. Worked the mold lines carefully as this body has many compound curves. Thanks, Ismael
  22. By the way, this is a big car. Here it is next to a 1/25 '63 Corvette. The Talbot is 1/24 but still the size difference is significant. Thanks, Ismael
  23. Hello, Rescribed the trunk and worked the mold lines in the back. A test coat of primer shows we are moving in the right direction. Still some more work but moving along. Thanks, Ismael
  24. Hello, You may remember I recently participated in a local build-off where the topic was Corvettes. The local folks have come up with the first build-off of the year. The topic: European road car, no race cars. Since the topic is quite broad, and I always want to be different, I'm not doing a Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche or VW. I entered these: Second choice: 1906 Renault Towne car in 1/32 But the main choice is this: The time is only 4 months, so I doubt I'll finish both. Especially since the main one is a Heller. I also registered a Lambo and a Ferrari but who am I kidding? Anyways, here we go with the Talbot. This will be the road counterpart to the Talbot race car I did a while ago. First order of business: Mold lines, which are prominent in this kit. Started with the rear left quarter. Not much but it is officially started. Stay tuned for more... Thanks, Ismael
  25. Fabulous project! I was not aware of this car nor the model.
