  1. Love the color. Very period correct. Glad to see more progress on this one...
  2. These are the wheels I'm going to use. I can't think of any better choice. They'll be painted yellow as well. Perry's Resin Minilites. I think he will have them in Toledo... Thanks,
  3. David Coulthard once said Kimi was "Dead from the feet up". Kimi is notorious for NOT having a personality at all. He was asked if he was going to party at his birthday (mid 20's) and he responded "I'm too old for that now". Michael has always been my favorite driver. I haven't followed F1 since he retired. He celebrated every win like if it were his first. Senna was just as great but I think in his time there was a bit more variation between the cars. Michael dominated when rules were making cars closer together. Of course the Ferrari reliability did not hurt either. In the rain, they were both great but I think Senna may have had the edge. He was the Rei da Chuva (King of the rain). I still consider myself a Tifosi! I'd love to see Massa win the championship. Thanks,
  4. Hello again, Interior is done! Not exactly 100% factory stock or box stock for that matter Recycling? The seatbelts and the door pulls were made using the tape used for masking the yellow stripes Added Motorola radio / data logger transponder Photoetch seatbelt hardware pieces are leftovers from the blue Porsche Toggle switches are just painted wire. Bare metal parts are alum foil Carbon fiber dash panel is alum foil covered with leftover carbon fiber decals from the Cadillac project. What do you think? Thanks,
  5. Metal plates where the seats go (alum foil) parts box racing seat (Perry's resin), fire extinguisher machined in my lathe just for fun, (yeah it's big. I want to flood the car in a fire) riveted aluminum door panels (more alum foil) door pull straps (more on that later), Carbon fiber racing dash plate with racing computer and toggle switches. Thanks,
  6. Harry, For the same reason I wonder how people live in places that freeze
  7. OK you win. But I prefer banana splits to Banana belts
  8. Ohhh! That's gorgeous! I have pictures of that car from the Petit Le Mans race in Atlanta in my Fotki albums. Looking forward to see its progress.... Thanks,
  9. I'm about to get a asthma attack because I can't stop laughing hard at this video! Reminds me of a similar incident with me and my wife years ago..... but she still married me eventually Can't stop laughing....
  10. Mock up with the body: Thanks,
  11. And there goes the box stock part of the build Brass full roll cage. It fits so nice and tight there is no need to hold it with anything. Too bad it has to be painted. Why the upper bars go inwards? The roof is a tight fit and this is more of a quick build. I don't expect this car to roll over very often anyways Thanks,
  12. Don't you dare! It stopped. Besides, you do know how to swim right?
  13. I might need to do a 1:1 Noah's Ark. Authorities are saying this is the heaviest rain in over 100 years of records. Over 26 inches of rain in 24 hours and counting. Hey! This was supposed to be a Rain Forest, not Atlantis
  14. Nice to see progress on these! Leave them yellow. I have a 430 in primer and I will leave them body color. I'll do a little card that will read "Yes, I know the scoops are black but this is MY car done MY way " Thanks,
  15. SLOW DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to refresh this thread every few minutes and neither my computer nor my brain can keep up!! Beautiful as usual Dave. Thanks,
  16. That's a 1/5 scale model of a car that doesn't yet exists but tributes Hot wheels which are 1/64, so it is actually a 13/1 scale model of a Hot Wheels Confused enough now? Thanks,
  17. Hello, I polished the roof to see how it would look. Note the rest of the car has not been polished yet. What's in front of it is a REALLY BIG BLOCK Next week I hope to finish polishing and start assembly. This week is quite busy and we are going camping with the cub scouts this weekend. Thanks,
  18. That is some superb craftsmanship! And that goes for both builds!
  19. That is absolutely beautiful. Andy's work is outstanding. I was blessed with the opportunity of getting one of the Corvette kits and it is my holy grail, built with my heart. This is STILL my favorite model of all time. Thanks,
  20. That is so sad to hear. They did a great job.
  21. Hello, Tired of my promos already? Don't worry, this is the last one for now. I scored this one on eBay and it was delivered this morning. Monte Carlo Pace Car from the Inaugural Brickyard 400: August 6, 1994. Another Brookfield promo. Click here to see my promos album Thanks,
  22. "I Don't need to know where I'm going! I just need to know where I've been"
  23. I have no idea but I have to say it's beautiful! Love it!
  24. Hello, Well, not exactly 100% on topic but these are scale race cars anyway We had a Cub Scout district Pinewood Derby yesterday. Up until Thursday, we were not going because my wife and I were supposed to be out of town in training. But the training was cancelled and I found myself struggling to get 2 BSA kits for the derby. My son was very happy he was now going! If you haven't seen it, the kit includes a block (literally) of wood and you need to carve a race car out of it. With only Friday evening and a few hours Saturday I cut the rough simple shapes. Keep in mind most of my tools are for plastic or metal work, not much wood. Cutting wood with a hacksaw designed to cut aluminum tubing is "interesting" Simple shapes cut, a 220 grit sandpaper and off they go for painting. No sealer, no primer no nothing. Painted in a few minutes with the acrylics I had around, put the wheels on, a few stickers and called them done. While they were painting I lightly polished the nails that act like axles and following the instructions (what a concept!) added some dry powder lubricant. Not the most "elaborate" race cars I've seen, but good enough considering the timeframe AND they did it themselves. At the derby, my son's car was flying, winning every heat! At the end it won the class and the overall! My daugther's car won 2nd place in the open category (for non-cub scouts like sisters, adults, older brothers etc) A fellow leader looked at me, smiled and said "those 2 cars are suspicious. I've seen your workbench and I wonder if those cars were turned in your lathe and have Michelin race tires or something" He was kidding but just in case we showed the cars to anyone who wanted to see it and inspect it, not to mention tech inspection and the judges. The secret is straight wheels, not weight. It weighted only 3 oz and the limit was 5. What a blast! we ALL had a great time. That's the beauty of cub scouting. You can tell which one is who's About 50 - 60 cars entered, but most importantly, they were all worked on by the kids Click here for more Pinewood Derby pictures I may sound like a broken record but: Ask not what the young can do for you, ask what YOU can do for them. Thanks,
