ismaelg replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Hello, Here are a few pictures of how it's coming along. Before, As of now, Before, As of now, The Energizer bunny is inspiring me to keep going and going and going.... Thanks, -
Curt, As expected, that looks great! You are giving me some ideas for the Valvoline Unser Jr car I have around. I'm still working on the Porsche Indy March. I hope to finish it before the year's end. Thanks,

Dont' forget to bleed them! Looking good bro! -
Going for the late 70's look. Since this is hobby enamel paint I may need to wait a few years for it to dry before polishing. Thanks,

Hello, Looking at my models I realized I don't have any british cars, and I've never done a 1/43 scale model. So this stone can get 2 birds at the same time I can't really say I'm a huge fan, but British cars have their place in automotive history. I have seen incredible 1/43 models that rival larger scales. You may have seen Simon's Ferrari 312T and Porsche 962. I have hold them in my hands in awe. But I'm taking it slow and easy. Heller made a few 1/43 kits that are very simple, yet look decent enough for the price. From that series is this Jaguar XJS. A V12 luxury GT car made from the mid 70's until the early '90s. Boy this is tiny! The body looks decent. The model includes a very crude engine but the hood is molded shut. I'll leave it like that. A coat of T236 Plastikote primer revealed a few low spots and minor bodywork needed. After that a second coat and it's ready for paint. Interior is very basic. I used Model Master Flat interior tan and military brown. But you didn't think for a second that I was going to leave it alone, did you? I added seatbelts, buckles, seatbelt reels, some buttons, console plate etc. The door panels and the dash have wood trim. Let's see where this gets. Thanks,

Hello, Recycled plastic from a disposable plate. Also made the roof thinner. Yes I know they are available in photetch but I'm cheap Thanks,
-
Hello, Added material to the trunk lid for a tighter gap and covered the roof flap hole. But the thickness of the plastic looks like armor plate. That will be addressed next so stay tuned.... Thanks,
-
Gregg has left the island! Actually he just landed in Cincinnati. See you next year Gregg! Hope you enjoyed! Thanks,

Chris, The setup is a single softbox on top pointing down. In this particular case we used a white table cloth and the table was set against a white projection screen. Thanks,

How did I miss this? Nice job on a way cool racer. BTW, I'd love to see the IMSA GTU as well. Thanks,
-
I'm having a hard time finding good reference for this car. I thought it was going to be easier, given that this is one of Dale Earnhardt's most popular rides. Anyway, in the meantime, Rusty Trusty attacked again and opened the trunk and the roof flaps... Thanks,

Hello, Any idea where to find small scale decals? I bought this at the show: It's a 1/43 scale very Very VERY basic kit. The decals are not very good and are generic. I'd like to make either the 1988 LeMans winner Silk Cut or the Daytona Castrol car. Maybe some smaller Castrol decals from a 1/25 may work. Nothing fancy, just that I've never done a 1/43 and I found this ugly car to be "cute" Thanks,
-
Hello, This will be interesting. I've always admired the work of David Thibodeau, Erick Gerena and other NASCAR builders. But I've never done one, not even back in the day I followed it. I was (am) a big Dale fan. When tragedy struck Feb 18 2001 I stopped following NASCAR with a screeching halt. Local forum (Scalebuilder.com) member Danny (3men2s) came with the idea of a friendly NASCAR buildoff. I don't know how he convinced me but now I'm in this mess and it is all his fault You can see his Bill Elliot Thunderbird post in this forum section as well. I'm NOT going to even attemp get to those guys level. I don't have the subject knowledge, expertise nor the desire to do so. The '33 left me not burned, but a bit overheated. Gentlemen! Start your engines! The engine in the kit is not correct for this car. But at this point, I'm not going to bother. Not much to see but it's a start.... Thanks,
-
Hello, Today's show was a blast! Here is a link to my fotki: 6th CSAE Fotki album and this is the link for Luis Ayala's album. Luis' Fotki album We'll include more albums as they become available. Do you recognize anybody in these pictures? Thanks,
-
Thanks Dave! I'm using your Peter Maxx car as a reference. I just had no idea how different it was. In fact, your fotki is my primary reference Thanks!
-
Thanks Chris, I was looking at that. My question is: How much of that would apply to the '98 car? That set is for the 2000 car I believe. Thanks,
-
This project has been finished and it is now posted in the Under Glass section. Thanks,

Ladies and Gentlemen: My 1933 Chrysler Imperial Indy Pace Car

Hello again, I just noticed (thanks to Rogelio) that the windshield frame shows like if the chrome rubbed off. I got scared and went to check the model, but it turns out that is the reflection on the poster on the wall. Everyting is OK. It scared the heck out of me Here is a picture with the walls painted white: Sorry We can now return to our regularly scheduled program, already in progress.... Thanks, -
Beautiful work! It really captures the soul of the racing Minis of the 60's. The Ferrari is beautiful too Thanks,
-
Erick, Will you be with us at the show? We have a Scalebuilder forum group picture scheduled for 1PM. Thanks!

These 2 pictures did not make the top ten but I like them too I made a rig to display the hood and the top separately. The engine is too nice to be covered up. I don't have the guts to turn the car upside down to take pictures of the chassis. The hubs are quite fragile and it could be tragedy. So here are pictures of it in progress. Thanks,
