You did a great job on it! That car was a favorite of mine as well. I can't believe it has been 20+ years already!

Love to see updates on this. Keep 'em coming! Thanks,

Nice SSK! Looks very sporty. That's maybe how AMG may have done it back in the day Thanks,

47th Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona
ismaelg replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It was a great race. The intensity at the end was amazing. It is great to see the name Donahue and Porsche winning. OK I confess. I don't like Montoya so I was happy he was beaten Great race but I have to ask: Why in the world did they never show or mention what car was in what position? I watched for a few hours trying to figure out what car was in what position because they only mention drivers, and the ticker thing in the screen was the same. Only driver's name. It was quite confusing. Their website was no help either. Maybe it's a licensing issue and everytime they show or say the name Pontiac, Porsche or Mazda they need to pay a royalty Thanks, -
Real word car advice needed
ismaelg replied to eburg_Dub's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice problem to have If I had to choose between those 2 only, I'd go with the Porsche. Far better handling while having good power. Most likely better fuel economy and more reliable. Parts and maintenance are no longer cheap in any car. Check both for fit, finish and materials: Porsche wins again. A decade from now, the Porsche will still feel solid. Not so sure about the Challenger. Personally, I prefer the looks of the Porsche. However: If I were in that situation: I'd also look at a new Corvette Z51 (Jetstream blue with the upgraded interior) or a new Cayman S....... but that's just me. If not in a hurry, maybe wait to see if the CTS-V coupe materializes. Thanks, -
Hello everybody, It was brought to my attention a possible link hijack of Scalecorvettes.com If you use the web address without the www it will take you to a site of questionable contents. Make sure you type or use the COMPLETE address: http : / / www.scalecorvettes.com I'm investigating this with the server admins. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks,

Great job as usual! That is the brightest red I've seen. Must be even more impressive in person. Thanks,

Jim, It is evident that you know what you are doing. That is some great work there. I think it is worth casting in resin once you are done with the bodywork. I would be interested since the kit is not that hard to find. Maybe Jeff from Time Machine Resin? Thanks,

Cool! One of my favorite cars. Looking forward to see it finished. I've had one in primer for over 3 years. I need to get back to it.... eventually Thanks,

Do you build more than cars?
ismaelg replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm one of those fellow MCM members There are no cars in my workbench right now and it seems there will be none in the near future. I'm currently building helicopters, airliners and will soon start on a cargo plane project. Here is a link to my current primary project. This is my entry into the ARC Forum Airliners Group Build: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=174379 Thanks, -
Thanks Aaron! Yes it is. If you click on the link there are a few more pictures and a brief history of both the aircraft and the model. I have another one and I'm thinking of doing it as a What If SAR or Firefighter. Thanks,
-
Clean build. Very nice color.

Hello, I know you mean brushable paints, but this may help. The main fuselage, wing roots and skids of this model were painted with WalMart's $1.49 rattle can Aluminum paint. There are 3 tricks for this to work: Shake the heck out of it (warm it if needed), thin coats and a perfectly smooth surface. The primer was polished before several thin coats were applied. Then the paint was again color sanded before final light coats. More pictures here: http://www.puertoriconet.com/images/xv1/ Hope this helps. Thanks,

WOW! That's one of the best engine compartments I've ever seen. Thanks,

These are models from another forum: Scalebuilders.com It just so happens that many of us are also active here so you may have seen most of them already. This local forum is for model builders from Puerto Rico and we have about 50-60 members. I'm one of the moderators and it is in spanish. The last day of each month, The "model of the month" was picked out of those finished and posted that month. At the end of the year we have 12 models of the month: Those presented here. The question is simple: From these 12 model of the month winners, which one do you like the best? That will be crowned model of the year and the modeler will get a prize kit. Thanks,
-
I'm really really sorry. But the lack of good reference was a major turn down for me. I even considered selling it with the aftermarket decals and all, but I'll hang to it for a while. Who knows.... Thanks,

The new Model Cars Mag#136
ismaelg replied to Tom Jackson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am always the last one to get the mag. I guess those mail turtles swim faster to Australia than here. Either that or the donkey from Denver reaches California first and then heads to Florida via Chicago to send mine -
Hello, I want to publicly thank Danny (3men2s) for his enthusiasm and efforts. All year long, he has been cheering and pushing us in a good way, with the only purpose of promoting the hobby. He came up with this model of the month and model of the year thing, ran it all by himself, and he has even given away models from his own stash as prizes. He is really the spark of our local forum And all of this have always been done unselfishly and without the pressure of competition. On the contrary, it has always been about having fun, sharing, learning from each other and helping others push the envelope. So let's show him our appreciation with your votes and comments! Thanks Danny! Regards,
-
WOW! OK, I'll take the credit for starting this "tradition" of posting all the models done in the year. I've been doing it for years back in the Hobby Heaven board and here since 2006. I'm very glad to see others jumping in! Your votes on my models are a bit different than my own rankings. You voted: IMSA Corvette GTP (25 votes) 1933 Chrysler Imperial Indy Pace Car (21 votes) triple tie for third between Gurney's Eagle, Cadilllac STS-V and Concept Camaro (12 votes each) no votes for the rest. My ranking is: Corvette IMSA GTP Dan Gurney's Olsonite Eagle 1933 Chrysler Imperial Indy Pace Car Penske Camaro (very close to the Pace Car) white 1981 Corvette Cadillac STS (almost tied with the Vette) Villeneuve's FW-19 The Star Wars thingy and the 1/43 are not even worth mentioning. Thank you all for your time, your support and your comments. It was a good modeling year. Unfortunately 2009 doesn't look that good. With new added responsabilities at work, a busy life and my recent shift towards aircraft models, I'm not sure what cars if any I'll finish this year. Thanks,
-
I don't have any specific plans for 2009. But given the current state of affairs, it seems it will be a very tough year at work and very busy personally. So it seems modeling will be limited. I only currently have Danica's 2005 Indy car and the helicopter I'm working on. Other than that just a bunch of ideas, including several Corvettes and some other aircraft projects. Thanks all for the response! At the end of the month I'll compare the results with my own rankings. Thanks,
-
Cool racers! Is the Saleen S7 a modified diecast? Thanks,
-
Nice! I'm torn between the Ferrari 365 and the cutaway Porsche, with the F40 closing in. The Porsche looks like it was quite a challenge. But I think I'll go with the 365.... Thanks,
-
Nice STS! Love the color combo. Very elegant. Thanks,
