Thank you all for the nice comments. Sorry I forgot to mention the paint is from Scalefinishes. Thanks,

Hello, My first model car of the year a.k.a. Slump-Buster. Tamiya kits are such a joy to build! Nothing spectacular here. Pretty much box stock with added fuel lines in the chassis, half shafts boots, seatbelts and its hardware, sun visors with opened mirror in the driver's side visor, home made license plate and insection sticker, aluminum exhaust tips and aftermarket wheels with added valve stems. I made the radio antenna but it is so ugly in its stock location (over the rear tire's flare) I may not use it. Enough talking. Here is "The Canary" What do you think? Your comments are appreciated. Thanks,

Help Me Remove My X-Acto Knife Scratches!
ismaelg replied to Macmaniac's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
First of all, Welcome to the best scale modeling online forum! Hard to tell without a picture but usually, scratches are not big or deep enough for filler to work. Filler needs something to grab to. I would suggest (again, without seeing it) a thick primer like Gunze's Mr Surfacer 500. It's a thicker than usual primer you can brush over the scratches and sand when dry. Next time protect the surrounding areas with tape so if the blade jumps or skips it scratches the tape not the surface. This will save you a lot of time later on repairs. If you can, post pictures of the damage so we can see it and have a better idea of what we are dealing with. Hope this helps! Thanks, -
Gregg will be there, IF and only IF we let him out of Puerto Rico No wait.... Maybe it is IF and only IF we can kick him out of Puerto Rico

I vote Targa. I prefer the look of it to the other one. I'm a factory stock modeler and the targa looks more "factory correct". Also, it seems to be easier to do as previously stated. Thanks,

Thank you Steve! Especially for the ZR1 test shot. Sooooooooo good I'm drooling all over the place. Interesting to see the CH-54 Skycrane. An old favorite. I'm slowly working on converting one into an S-64. Thanks,

Wanna pick a fight? The question was real or model. Not if you like it or not. So don't get mad at me next time I call ugly a hot rod or a 50's custom This is all tongue in cheek of course. That's the beauty of the car hobby in general, both 1:1 and scale. I'd love to drive one of these... Thanks,

Electrical system test: Please allow for the pic to download completely.... Thanks,

Hello, I'll be in Ft. Lauderdale, FL next week on biz meetings. We have a very tight schedule and I'll be sharing a rental car with my boss and 2 other co-workers, so I guess renting a Corvette from Hertz is out of the question That also means free time will be minimal but I recall a good hobby shop in the Plantation / Ft. Lauderdale area from a few years ago. Maybe University drive or Military trail? Any suggestions? Thanks,

Despite measurements, tires stick out of the fenders ever so slightly. Enough to bother me. No time for chassis surgery so I have to live with it. Thanks,
-
I have no idea if it is real or not, but I certainly like it! Is it available in blue? Harry, when this ROM is done, let me know the details. I really like it. Thanks,

Nice job! One of my all time favorite kits. Thanks,

Still a lot pending, but getting there...... Hard to see but I added sun visors with airbag warning decals and also added a mirror and its flip cover to the driver's visor. Thanks,

You just need to ask The AstroVette has the original L-68 400hp 427 engine. That is essentially the base 427 with the 3 carbs setup. Cast iron block and heads, 400hp, 460 lbs of torque, hydraulic lifters, oval ports. The show car has an automatic transmission and other than minor chrome dressup parts, the engine is stock. Thanks,
-
Took it out for a quick spin under the sun.... Thanks,

WOW! What a nice job! It looks absolutely gorgeous. Love it. That's a difficult kit to build but you did pass the test with flying colors. Thanks,
-
Polished the body. Now for the tedious part of masking and painting the black trim My elbow hurts. Can I stop polishing? Thanks,
-
Nice! I've built 2 of these already. Nice call on the wheels. About the pictures, they are a bit underexposed (dark) and the white balance should be set to tungsten. That should bring the color a bit closer to reality. If you don't mind, I played a bit with the white balance on your first picture: Thanks,

Your Favorite Car Chases!
ismaelg replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
CARS, when the Sheriff is chasing McQueen. The sheriff is backfiring and McQueen believes he's been shooting at, so he takes "serpentine" evasive maneuvers making the Sheriff say "Blue Blaze, crazy hot rodder!" and presses harder into the chase Toy Story 1 with the moving van Toy Story 2 with the pizza delivery pickup chasing the chicken man to the airport and the horse chasing the airplane The Incredibles motorhome scene, not exactly a chase but cool I'm not much into movies or even TV for that matter, but one of my favorites has to be Cannonball's opening chase of the Lambo (best opening of a movie) and the later chase of the same Lambo by a female police officer "Hello hot pants! I suppose you have a driver's license stuck in there somewhere, do you?" Thanks, -
My family asked what was going on with my screaming and yelling. That was going great but that wreck was not good. Trading paint is fine, but causing that wreck was not. Jan seems to be OK but it was scary.

Wheels, tires and brakes pretty much done. Tires still need to be tread sanded. Aoshima Kranze wheels. Added valve stems. Kit's brakes. Thanks,
-
Nice! One of my all time favorites. I had a lot of fun doing mine. Thanks,

Hello, Interior is pretty much done. Couldn't resist adding seatbelts and latches. The seatbelts in the 1:1 attach to B pillar, but since the model has full windows it will be a problem. So I took an artistic license there. Thanks,
