  1. And here is the Academy Ferrari 250LM. Another less than stellar kit made into something nice. And both together... Thanks,
  2. Hello, Just hung up on the phone with my friend Felice from Venezuela. Here are some pics of his latest models. He is fluent in spanish and italian and he knows a bit of english but it's still a challenge for him. So if there is any question or comments, I'll serve as intrerpreter. I hope you enjoy. Yes, the Monogram Porsche 904: The unbuildable kit turned into a beauty as only few can do! He said this has been one of the most challenging projects in his modeling career, and if you have tried this kit you know what he means. Thanks,
  3. HORRAY!!! I was wondering about this project a few months ago. Glad to see it back. Looking forward to it! Thanks,
  4. WOW! I always wondered if someday there would be a Cuda that I like. That day has arrived! Thanks,
  5. Thank you all for your nice comments! I had a great time building it and I'm glad you like it!
  6. Hello, I am mostly a factory stock modeler, but I have found myself doing more racing subjects lately. I've had the Accurate Miniatures Grand Sport Corvette kit for years and I think I may need to start working on it sooner or later. I've heard many different things about the kit: Some frame rails needs to be filled, something interferes and doesn't fit, maybe the headers or something, ride height needs tweaking, etc. I know some of you have already built it so what's your impression? How do you like it? What needs to be looked at carefully? How about the many aftermarket items for them? Any comments or suggestions? Yes, I've seen pictures of Jim Drew's Grand Sport but he is from another planet Right Jim? Thanks,
  7. Hello again, This model includes 2 sets of wings (front and rear) so it can be built in either oval (smaller wings) or road course (bigger wings) configurations. Of course I want to build it as it ran in the Indy 500, the Mother of all races. But the rear wing is not completely accurate according to my scarce reference material on this car. The end plates are the wrong shape, size, location and thickness. So out came "Trusty Rusty" and quickly did the dirty job... I'll eventually scratchbuild the correct end plates. Thanks,
  8. Hello, Final mockup before disassembling and start painting. The wings are not fixed so don't worry about them not been perfectly aligned. This is what I'll start painting soon: Thanks,
  9. Thanks Jay! This is an old Monogram kit from the late 80's. I got it from a fellow modeler but they are frequently seen at eBay. Thanks,
  10. Hello, I HATE gluing parts to a painted surface. More so if the part has any kind of structural load. Gluing the parts before painting is not always a viable alternative. That's the case with the suspension on this car. So I took out my smallest drill bit, and ended up pining the A arms. I can say I have put blood into this build. I hurt myself not once but twice doing this. Thanks,
  11. Hello!!! I'm very happy! This is my grail for 2008. I like the final product. The Quick Skins kit is such a joy to work with! The only minor "inconvenience" I had was the right rear tire that needed some persuation to get in place. The model represents chassis # HU-710/01 as it raced in Road Atlanta on April 6, 1986 where it won the race, took the pole with a track record of 1:12:001 and set the fastest lap of the race at 1:14:410. Yes, I know they use UHF communications in Atlanta but I couldn't resist adding the VHF antenna This is what the general public sees when I open the garage. The GTP book is always available for reference. But my friends (all of you) have more access Quick Skins kit Cobra Colors white, silver and black paint, Cobra Colors clear Scratchbuilt fender louvers, antenna and aluminum radiator baffles (the photoetch ones did not cooperate) Added oil lines to transaxle Full interior with full harness, dash gauges, electronics boxes /wiring and fire suppression system Front brakes cooling ducts (orange) Wall posters from its racing era and a 2008 Corvette Racing Calendar I hope you approve and enjoy it as much I did building it! Thanks,
  12. That's even tougher to answer than the "what's your favorite car of all time?" question. There are so many I fear I may leave many important names out but let's see: Narrowing down to only 4 would not be fair, so I will take the liberty of mentioning more than 4. Actually, even separating them in categories. Gerald Wingrove, Augie Hiscano: Paved the way and set the standard for all of us to aspire. Tom Carter: When the internet appeared, people thought it was a nail in the coffin of the hobby. I credit Tom Carter to have taken it and convert it into the most important allied this hobby has ever seen. Bill Geary, Juha Airio, Alex Kustov:Out of this world creations. Art Anderson, Felice Ferriello, Dean Milano, Brian Fishburn, Ken Krawiec, Bob Downie: Great builders, great company and always welcome me and make me feel at home whenever we meet. Carlos Rocafort: My mentor. He showed me what it was and how to use an airbrush, the virtues of flat vs gloss paint, about colors, but most importantly: an example of a true friend. Robert Wheeler: My best e-friend and co-founder of ScaleCorvettes.com. A true friend. The 3000+ miles between us are nothing. Gary Schmidt, Gregg Hutchings: For taking our hobby into a publication and spreading the word. Jairus: Great artist, great builder, great friend. Leon Tefft:Setting the standard and raising the bar on customer care and personalized service. Friend first, then seller. But there is a special category: My favorite builders: Not only they do outstanding work, but also build subjects close to my heart: Jim Drew, David Thibodeau, Brendan Howden, Gary McNutt among many others And of course everybody else I haven't mentioned. If you've ever been inloved in this hobby, you are a hero to me Thanks,
  13. Cool! The Henri Greder car! It started 36th and finished 18th in the 1974 LeMans race.... Nice save! Thanks for sharing,
  14. OK Jim, I'm sending you a blank check for a few of those windshields..... Gorgeous!
  15. Cool looking Subaru! Love the color....
  16. Finally found it! I don't know if it has been answered before on this long thread but that's Ken Hamilton's Eagle Flyer Chevy that failed to qualify in the 1982 Indy 500. Ken is the father of Davey Hamilton, IRL racer. Thanks,
  17. Great job as usual! Following it on the workbench section was also very nice. Thanks for sharing! My GTP is about 95% done so this will be the IMSA month Regards,
  18. Cool pair! I love modern rides. The Viper and blue go together and the yellow is a nice color for the F430. Looking forward to see them finished. Thanks,
  19. Would you believe me if I say I love it? Did you scratchbuilt the rear diffuser or was it included in the transkit? Looking forward to see it finished! Thanks,
  20. Looking good! I did a blue one as well last year after doing my gold one. That kit is nice and blue goes very well with that body. Looking forward to see it done.... my blue Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Thanks,
  21. Hello, Ford announced that it will challenge the 2 seater market (Miata, Solstice, S2000) with a retro design based on the 1965 Galaxie 500 convertible. Since it will be a shorter version it will be called the Galaxie 50 The design is locked but they forgot a small detail. They are now looking for a suitable engine that fits. Options may include a Briggs and Stratton OHV engine. Aerodynamics were not really considered in the project. Whatever it is, it is. Expect the car to be late, underpowered and overweight. Thanks,
  22. Nice L-88!!!!
  23. Nic, Thanks a lot! You have one of the best set of reference pictures I've seen of the car. Chassis number 8610/01 was named "Spirit of Charlotte" for its first race in Charlotte NC in May '86. It finished 4th. That's the same car that eventually won West Palm beach in June '86. Thanks,
  24. That looks very nice. It is not just a well done cool model of a cool car, but a time machine. The moment I saw the first pic I was transported back in time Thanks,
  25. Thanks Greg! I complemented the kit's decals with SMS (Scale MotorSports) plain carbon fiber, twill weave carbon fiber and carbon kevlar decals. Thanks,
