Thanks everyone for your replies! History of the car is Australian 1956 Chevy 210 four door sedan. Pic is from about 1977 - 78. He’d just had it painted (hence the side trim hadn’t been put back on) it had a Blue Flame 6 and he put the hubcaps from his 1963 Bel Air on it. He owned it until his passing in 1987. He wanted it blue, but his mate who painted it had some ‘free’ brown whatever colour it is, so it may have been a GM, fomoco or fence paint lol for all I know. thanks again for all your replies. PS. Don’t know where I can get a resin set of non-SS 63 caps do ya? peter

Your weathering effects are terrific! I know it’s a ‘68, but it’s got a bit of a ‘Joe Dirt’ Daytona vibe with that yellow.

I love the colour you’ve used on the seats, it’s perfect. May I enquire as to the name / brand of the paint? Looks terrific overall!

Thanks everyone, I got the chalkboard contact idea from a user on here.

Tried my hand at a vinyl top on this one, I’ll use a MUCH sharper knife next time. My missus had some of that ‘chalkboard’ contact sheet, and it looks the part, I just need to improve my application of it. Thanks for all the great tips and tricks you guys share on here, it really helps me out.

Hi, here’s my Petty Belvedere I finished last night. It was a fun kit to build although I think the tamiya clear ate some of the decals.

I wasn’t sure about the fruit, but after reading about all these great ideas, I might try the doll house route. Maybe you could fill the back with ‘old’ engine part left overs from other kits? Heres a pick of the Rod I built from the kit, box stock, I’m still a relative beginner, so don’t look to close!
-
Cool, I just finished building a hot rod out of this kit, and have started the stock version. you're right about the ‘fruit’ molding. More like moulding arf arf see what I did there?

Mr Vamach1, did you make those FoMoCo hubcaps or is there somewhere I can buy them? I’ve given up on a stock non vented hood. thank you plashdaddy

Hi, sorry for the lack of updates, it went pear shaped for a bit and I used it to try my hand at weathering. Anyway, here's the results.
-
thank you for your kind words & advice, I will look into it

Yep, and the roof comes with a simulated vinyl texture on it too.

Sorry I don't update very often, stupid work gets in the way of modeling. Mr 426 Hemi sir, that bonnet isn't resin, it's the one Round 2 include in the box. It's awful. As for colour / engine this one is a 100% Kowalski Special. Put the first coat on today after finishing the roof. Still needs work.
-
Here's the shots of where the roof joins the body Espo, obviously still working on the fill, I'm still a novice at using filler. Hope it helps.
-
Thanks Dave & Espo, I'll post some pics of the roof and body when I get home Espo, but it sits on the sun visors at the front and just on top of the body at the back. It's a PITA.

Hi! I bought the AMT Vanishing Point Kit, and had read that the new bonnet / hood (without the hole) was ordinary. Didn't think it'd be THIS ordinary lol (first pic is the new hood, looks terrible) So here's my effort to fill the hole on the much better fitting 'Yankee Challenge' hood. Next is glueing the roof on and getting rid of the vinyl pattern on the roof. Wish me luck.

Hello, I'm from Australia and I've visited these forums a fair bit and thought I should join. I'm endeavoring to improve my skills after a long time not modeling. I mainly build muscle cars but I like pre-war stuff too.
