Replica of: Artist Mike Lomaka`s "ITALIVETTE" drawing
MikeMc replied to John Teresi's topic in Model Cars
Thats why I was sad with the JWAC turnout.....This is a sweet vette...... How does the intake work? I see the washer-like things on the bottom of the hood that appear to line up with the intakes mounted to the engine, but where can it draw air in when the hood is closed? I don't see any intake holes on the top of the hood or ducting on the underside to the little center scoop on the nose. Looks like it would be choked to death. I thought this was in poor taste Mark.....THIS IS A MODEL NOT REAL!!!! -
FULL BUILD REVIEW: 1/12 Revell Shelby Mustang GT500
MikeMc replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am curious on this exhaust...blocked cutouts? or Electric...Odd look for a stock car....But this picture is the Laguna Seca Edition...with those brake hoses and modified exhaust...doesn't seem stock at all. Finally, we slipped into the Laguna Seca version--and, oh baby, what a ride. This low-production model wears, amongst other things, a larger front splitter, larger rear wheels, large brake-cooling ducts, and R-compound 255/40/19-inch Pirelli Corsa competition tires in front and 285/35s in the back. http://realperforman...2-boss-therapy/ Back on Topic...Sweet Build, love the motor!! -

Need some tutoring in paint types.
MikeMc replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Rob...think about a dehydrator..I paint year round ( way farther south than you) Blush is real...but can be dealt with. Acrylics and Auto Air will work the best down here....BUT a different learning curve as there are so many different acrylics. Water Based auto paints are coming quickly..and the prices are coming down. As we do not need UV protection they do work well....BUT cleanup and drying are totally different than lacquers or enamels...ultra thin "spatter" coats to start, followed by a hair dryer....Thats right out of the Auto Air DVD!...The results are great... http://www.autoaircolors.com/ Heres a quick Tutorial by "Nub" -

Dupli-Color "Auto Spray" Primer / Tamiya Primer?
MikeMc replied to XJ6's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I gave up on Tamiya primers...lack of availability, and cost. I switched to duplacolor years ago, and if a white base is needed I shoot HOK BC26 white over the primer...love it!! -

I can read by myself....I suggest spending the money, practice with ONE MEDIUM then you can expand...I shoot lacquers and acrylics...BUT buy Donn Yosts DVD and try his way...cheap, easy, and it works. I also belong to a number of forums, and everyone has different "correct ways" to paint...Try Donns Technique. -

My favorite part has to be the "lowered" rear axle in the 66 Nova kit...I would love to see that in 1:1 -

Could be the primer sealer . The label says to apply on a primer base If you put it over bare plastic it might have caused crazing...W/O pics...hard to see. I shoot a lot of duplicolor ...primers , fillers, and sealers...and color and clear...never caused me any crazing.
