  1. I may be regretting spending so much time on this one, as I'm not even sure if I'm going to display it with my plastic stuff! I painted the wheels Hugger Orange and put the tires on...What a disaster!!! The white walls all cracked. I kind of expected this was going to happen after I was half way through painting the white walls on. I stripped the paint off, and mounted the tires, so I'll paint them later. I hand painted the stitching around the top as well. It was off to the hobby store for the body colour today. I couldn't match the cream on the pic I've been going by, so I'm going to take some liberties on colour!
  2. Me Too... Hit the link on my previous post!!
  3. Stunning build... and really hard to pull off a stretch like that with no 'stretch marks'!! As for 1953... We liked Ike... and Ike was a Caddy man! I may be wrong, but I believe one of his limos may be in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn... http://www.conceptcar.co.uk/blog/wp-conten..._eisenhower.jpg
  4. Phillo... I'm stealing your thread!! (nice '59 though ) Bill, Here's my efforts on the '60 from a few years back. It wasn't as easy as hacking the roof off... the trunk had to be shortened, and I grafted in the area around the boot cover from the convertible. The trunk and area ahead of it is a lot flatter on the converts than the hard top. I built this before I was on the online forums, so I am aware of lots of mistakes on it now! I didn't correct the spare tire issue either!
  5. Well, It's been a while again! Here's a quick update... Finished wiring the motor today, getting the correct firing order off of my internet pic. I'll touch up the hand made distributer after it dries, as it has some glue residue on it. I did the gas line, but will likely redo it, as it seems to not be close enough to the motor. The fire wall needs finishing, then hopefully it will be nice enough outside to paint!
  6. Just to throw my two cents in... and certainly not to disagree with Harry (or the others) but I am happy with how Revell has released the kit. All of the imperfections are easily corrected... certainly by the 98% of the builders on this site! For the few minor details wrong (or from a factory 150-not a black Widow) a person building this kit box stock for their own shelf will not really care. The only people truly this fussy are US!!!! The instructions for the fixes will be posted here anyways. I applaud Revells efforts on this kit, and am glad the errors are small and easily fixed... the worst mistake would have been to take the cheap way out and reissue a hardtop with decals to make a Black Widow... and leave us all really fuming.
  7. I'm attacking the body gap this week. This is my first time using Bondo on a model, and I am really impressed with how easy it is to use. It took two cracks at getting the halves to join properly, and may take more. As I sanded the Bondo down, It became thin on top of the body, and cacked at the joint. I also made a filler for the hole in the fire wall from an AMT '37 Chev firewall. It has an indent behind the motor about the same size, so it fit well. Used the Bondo to cement it in as well.
  8. I've been at it a little more.... first coat of Tamiya flat acrylic White on the white walls, and a coat of primer on the body. I Dremeled off the cowl vent, and am going to make a new one, possibly out of brass, to eliminate the seam that went through the old one. The Bondo will have to fill the seam, and even out the sink mark in the rumble seat lid, and the cowl. The kit came with chrome head lights, so I found some clear ones in a Jo-han 1931 V16 Cadillac kit that fit right in with minimal sanding. The glass is in the '32 assembly on the tree... Two of the Jo-han assemblies are below.
  9. Len and Bill... These builds are coming along really nicely! I'm also looking forward to taking a crack at this kit... Here's a link to my photo bucket, as I had some underside shots of a 100 point car that was E-bayed back when I built my hardtop. http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s84/bre...rdtop/?start=40
  10. Just noticed that noone posted pics of the show... here's a link to my album...sorry for the Chevy bias... http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s84/bre...Madness%202008/
  11. Thanks for the replies, guys. I guess I'll be sorting this out on the weekend. Gray... I built the same kit a few years back...
  12. I tried solder... and it just ran off like water! It's white metal, and it doesn't seem to take to the iron. I don't want to risk melting it with too much heat. Thanks for the suggestion though!
  13. Well, I wasn't expecting many replys... since it's not a deuce streetrod!! This suckers been kicking my butt! Mocked up the chassis and motor, and fabricated interior door panels from an AMT '37 Chev kit. Still need to shave the window cranks off of them and work on the fit. Just working out how to tackle the body. Two pieces with a nasty seam down the middle. I bought Bondo... but am open to suggestions!
  14. Just like out of the book "Driving With The Devil"! If you haven't read it, you should! Beautiful build!
  15. I agree with Jairus about the car... not bad, but kind of forgetable. A fast back (if done correctly) would really add a different look to the car, and be 'different'. The problem with doing 'retro' styling is that you are limited in styling to the design of the first model. I am not a Ford guy, so really this restyle doesn't look much different from the current model to me. As far as sales for Ford go, this does not sit well. Will the thousands of Mustang fans think there is enough change here to upgrade to a new model over their current one? For non Ford owners, is there enough change here to convince a switch to Ford over the '09s... or is the competition (Camaro and Challenger) going to get the nod with their 'new' styling. Around 2013- 14 things are going to be really interesting in this segment. What is Ford going to do with the Mustang (They can't keep doing retro...can they??) and how are the first changes to their competition going to play out... (are they falling into the 'retro' trap as well??) The one thing every redesign of the Camaro has been... is different from it's predeceser...will the next one be different too, or are we going to be looking at slightly warmed over models like this 2010 Mustang and waiting for something better?
  16. I bought this at the show in Toronto last week. Paid $18 while there was another guy asking $40 for the same kit in a nicer box... but we don't build the box, do we??!! First thing I did was cut all the flash off of the pieces with the Dremel. Two hrs into it so far, and I'm only half done! The other thing I did was chop the top to make it look a little more in perspective. It also lets the wind shield set back right. Thanks for checking it out... Post 'em if you got 'em!! Here's my goal... Before and after the chop...
  17. Thanks lizard! Dan... I believe they still do the Torcan. The show I am going to is held by the same club (Group 25). This will be the first show I have ever attended, so I'm a little new at this...
  18. Thankyou, all !! I hope they have better photo equipment at the show... I seem to get more dust then there really is in the picture, or it's half out of focus!!
  19. Here's the finished product... Done in time for Mega City Model Motor Madness show in Toronto on Sunday. Thanks to all who watched and commented!
  20. Thanks for watching guys... now it's moved to 'Under Glass'!
  21. Canadian built motor...ie) Windsor?? We like to screw you guys up down there by making you go by another set of wrenches and a Red Robertson Screw driver! Great build, by the way...The stance looks perfect. The colour doesn't look wrong... It would be easy for Bush to spot on the White House Lawn!
  22. You're right Jaffa, But no dice... I'm building it for a show on the 28th and want to enter it in a Factory Stock class.
  23. Scott... I did a '53 Corvette in pure white right on the plastic. It ran like ###### as well. I ended up taking it off, priming the car and repainting it. It went on fine after the primer. Now I always prime with the Tamiyas. The Racing white went on like butter... three light coats with little sanding between. Slim... you're spot on about the W block... this kit comes with some nice finned chrome valve covers as well that look pretty cool...Might make me hot rod something someday!
  24. I'm going to say model, because it looks like one of those design clays that you see tech schools put out all the time. I want a real one, though!!
  25. I started on the interior today... I still need to do the dash. The flocking went down like ######, but I never have any luck with it! my helper, Jazz!
