  1. Very cool. Keep her going.
  2. Liquid mask. http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/div/div3000.htm
  3. I'm curious about this myself. EDIT: Never mind. Looks like they are working with Revell and Moebius
  4. I use sanding sticks from the nail care area in my local beauty supply store. I then cut them down with my zona saw to whatever size I need.
  5. I'd say 90%. Even if I put a project away, it will still get completed someday. However if my custom design does not come out as envisioned, and it is unlikely to be achieved, I will totally scrap or trade away the project. Also a poorly fitting kit will very likely end up as scrap.
  6. My thoughts exactly. I strive for uniqueness, but I'm free to take inspiration where I find it. I think my body of work bears that out. No matter what I build, it's got a spin on it that hasn't been widely done. It's served me well in contests. Something different draws the eye. And like Tom, if I see something built that is too similar to my project, I lose interest entirely, until I find that modification that will set the model apart. This is what I like. Uniqueness and originality IS fundamentally important to my work.
  7. Thanks for pointing that out. Its been corrected.
  8. I think you did a great job. Excellent craftsmanship.
  9. I'm no mechanic, but I'm having trouble wrapping my head around that location.
  10. He have a great cross section of builders here from the most die hard replica stock builders to the most unique and custom creators. The skills are the same fundamentally, but the difference between them, is originality. No creativity, because all modelers are creative, but pure "it's-never-been-done-before originality. How important is it to you and your model building?
  11. I think you'll fit in here very nicely. Awesome work.
  12. Mike welcome to the CBP. This should be interesting.
  13. I can make it work.
  14. I cut out the box top and toss the rest. Some day, I'll decorate the hobby room with old box tops.
  15. My thoughts exactly. I'm using the 2JZ from the AMT Supra. From my reading the weight between the Pacer and Supra are near identical, and the 2JZ is rated at 321hp. It should move along pretty well I think. Adding a Ford 9 inch rear end to handle the load.
  16. Guys thanks for the input. I'm going to go ahead and use the engine/turbos as is, and just fix the direction of the plumbing and add intake to both turbos. This will be for my Cannonball Pacer, so 321 hp for a 3000 lb car will be fine.
  17. Jeremy. I'm not trying to bust your here, but why not do it yourself? This is how we grow as builders. By trying until it looks right. For motor detailing start with a prewired distributor and a pin vise. For headers get some appropriate sized fluxless solder. Very easy.
  18. I'm using this engine in a future project and I'm doing a little research and it looks to me that the turbo plumbing on the engine is backwards, that is, the intake is actually the output and vise-versa. Check the diagram and feel free to set me straight if I'm wrong. According to the instruction sheet, part 86 is the air cleaner and part 62 is supposedly the output heading to the intercooler. But per this diagram, they are in going to the wrong places on the turbo assembly. I'm not real tech savvy as my frequent "what the heck" posts in this section will attest to, but I'm trying to get it right. Any help is appreciated.
  19. In no particular order '66 or '67 Charger '57 Studebaker Golden Hawk Tim Burton Batmobile '90ish Jaguar XJS convertible '69 GTO (for the wife) DeTomaso Pantera '37 Chevy Coupe or roadster Volvo P1800 Model A roadster pick-up (heavily customized) Something around '59/'60 with some fins and lots of custom work.
  20. Every right brain/ left brain test I've ever taken puts me slap in the middle. Neither side is quite dominant. Scale auto modeling is exercising both sides. It is artistic engineering. It's a challenge to bring those two schools of thought that seem continually at odds, together in one work. I build. Collecting is just storage of things I haven't built yet. I get no satisfaction from it. It's just a stockpile of raw material.
  21. I gotta say. This build makes me smile. Very well done.
