  1. Nope. On the whole, I'm totally uninterested in adding working features to my models. I'm going to put some lenses in there and call it good.
  2. I'd have to post up everything in my Photobucket. Check the link below. If it is a flat color, it's Krylon. If its gloss, its Duplicolor.
  3. Oh wow. Dude. I'm using the same lamps on my rig too. And here I thought I was gonna be all "mr. originality".
  4. Can I assume that you are refering to a way to remount or hinge the front end you cut off? I think that it would have been better to plan that before you started cutting. In any case, your best bet is to do a search of gassers & other racers with such front ends and how they mount up. The fabricate brackets from sheet styrene.
  5. Whichever one is the most recently completed.
  6. Whoa. So it wrinkled up with Duplicolor color over Dulicolor primer. I've never heard of that happening. How old are both cans?
  7. Great discussion guys. I voted the third option. I really try to make sure most things look functional, however if my ride height can only be achieved through cheating or massive amounts of modifications, but no one will notice unless the model is turned over and examined, I tend to opt for the first choice. Most everything else........gotta look functional.
  8. That right there is the best piece of advice ever posted on this forum and something even the best of us still struggle with. I think your efforts have produced a great result. Nice work.
  9. Thanks I've been terribly tempted to build a newer version of it.
  10. Quite right. I've closed up the openings on the radiator top so that I can add just one upper hose, and I'll add a port to the water pump/timing cover to add a lower one. Thanks for the help everyone.
  11. We see frequently model cars built that have taken the laws of mechanics and functionality and thrown them out the window in the effort to get a model to look a certain way. We see tires rubbing the top of the wheel well or inner wheel well, axles on the frame, front wheels that would never be able to be turned because of their size. No lower radiator hoses , no steering parts of any kind. And don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing folks that do these things because I'm one of them. I'm just getting a feel for how everyone feels about this. Thoughts?
  12. How close is the Lindberg '64 330 Super Stock? http://www.ioffer.com/i/lindberg-72174-1964-dodge-330-maverick-super-stock-kit-168045717
  13. Really super clean work. Who could ask for more. I'm enjoying this build.
  14. Most of my research is stylistic. I'll have an idea to do something to a model and I'll try to see what has been done similarly in the 1:1 world. This helps me focus my ideas.
  15. Well, like a lot of guys most of my early models met with exposive ends, I have one model from my late teens. I'm really proud of this one because it shows just how far I have come as a builder. This was my first attempt at detailing a model. I'd just discovered the model car magazines that showed me what was possible to do with a model car kit. It showed me it wasn't just a hobby for kids, but a legitimate art. I'm not really too sure why it has just seven cylinders or why I have two sets of fuel lines.
  16. Hey Jerred, the saw looks cool as heck. You need to turn it 90 degrees though. Having it vertical your not gonna get many zombies. Turn it horizontal and you'll ace everything that comes between the headlights.
  17. John I think skill-wise, you are now, exactly where I was at your age. I've got some suggestions and things we can talk about if you'd like. Shoot me PM if you want and let me know what you'd like to do better on your builds.
  18. Of the recent releases this is the only one that is a must have for me.
  19. A couple of photos of the actual suspension components the kit comes with would ge great here. Because it differs for each type of suspension.
  20. Oooohhhhh. Then why the blazes haven't I seen a flattie engine in a kit that includes the lower hoses? I feel like a ninny. :l
  21. Yeah! I'm diggin it!
  22. Very cool. I love the color. Should be a beast when its done.
  23. Yes, it was my understanding with a flattie that one was in, the other out. Also the front cover does not include a port to run a lower radiator hose. However after examining pics of a 1:1 390, I'm sure I can mock up something.
  24. So they just threw the laws of physics/mechanics out the window? Or are you just refering to the wimpy y-pipe?
