69 Daytona Pro Mod 1/16th scale updated 4/3/12 ..It's a wrap!
Jantrix replied to Romell R's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Okay, I gotta ask. Why are you using brass for such things like that digital dash. The same steps could have been done in styrene and probably come up with the same result in half the time. For the size of the model a brass chassis makes a lot of sense, but all the smaller details? Please don't take this as a bash, I'm just supremely curious as to why all the extra work? -

There was definitely bad Mojo...

You are not alone. I think we've all had such days. -
Quite possibly. I don't regret the time with my sons far from it. But I don't regret time I spend at the bench either, because they are 16 and 18 and are usually off doing their own things. My family does not lack from attention from me, it's more the other things I do. PC games, TV etc.

Would this be 50%?
Jantrix replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Darin, I think you are okay as far as 50% as you described it. -
This past weekend it was guite windy. With only a carport it's not the greatest time to paint. But still, there was plenty of other modeling stuff I could have done. But I didn't, I played games with my sons, hit the dog park, played some Star Wars: Old Republic on my computer with some online pals. I had a good time. So why do I actually feel guilty for not working on my models? Is it because they represent a monetory value that is sitting unused? Is it because I'm in a couple of CBP's? This isn't a new thing either. I'll go to bed Sunday night, admonishing myself for not getting more done on this model or that, instead of goofing off. Anyone else have this issue or am I the only mental case?

Isn't Duplicolor the same thing?

Does I have to be a Mustang II or are you looking for any IFS front end. Lots of Revells '80's/'90's Vettes have some real nice IFS and there are lots of them availbale cheap on ebay.

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Jantrix replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
If you are concerned with realism on something like that, then you need more reinforcement on the gun support. That thing would have a lot of recoil and it would trash the welds on that support quickly. However it has a nice clean look. So if your not concerned with the physics of it all, I'd leave it. -
You can either buy some from a aftermarket company with or without a distrubutor or use 30 gauge wrapping wire from radio shack. Pretty cheap, decent colors. Thanks Chris. I think Mike nailed it with his red one. The 383 looks great. I'm going to build another someday with a pro-touring look and the 6.1 liter from the modern Mopars.

Yeah there is a guy who comes to some Florida shows. Almost all his work falls under the "custom" catagory and it's REALLY good work, but he brings them every year. And they are starting to get ignored by the judges which I appreciate. He also likes to spread his work out if he can, like entering his custom ElCamino in the "commercial" catagory because it has a bed. Eventually these people will get a reputation and judges will catch on.

An ultra-rare box stock from me. This is a GREAT KIT!

A recent photo from Busch Gardens.

Without getting into another thread on all the possible puttys to use, for soemthing like this, a little superglue with a lil baby powder added to help fill it in. I use it constantly.

A box stock rule question
Jantrix replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You can paint it any way you want. Paint and foil amount to the "finish" of the model and are not considered adding parts. Now that I think of it, would flocking fall under that as well? -
Great subject and real good work. Comparing the model to the photo, I think the primers need to be distressed more. Some 1000 grit maybe?

What's the story behind your user name/avatar?
Jantrix replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
When I first started going on online forums I knew I'd need a moniker with a bit of anonymity, so set out to find a cool name that wouldn't sound like anyone else, totally original. When I lived in Chesapeake VA, the local power company was called Cogentrix and I'd see their signs every day on the way to the base. I thought it sounded kinda cool, so I took it and played with it a bit and came up with Jantrix. The problem is, everyone likes to shorten it to Jan, which makes me sound like a Brady kid. My avatar changes on a whim. -

I can't make heads or tails out of that statement. How about trying English? You know, decent spelling, capital letters, a punctuation mark that isn't used for a smily face? Sorry about the avatar Virgil, I get bored with them after a while. -

I think if you look at my album, you'll agree that my work has no rhyme nor reason. I don't really have a signiture style. I build whatever trips my trigger at the time and is challenging me artistically.
