  1. I like it man, well done.
  2. Excellente!
  3. Awesome Harry.
  4. Honestly, the color of any model isn't a huge issue to me. I generally have an idea of what color I want but close enough is fine. Granted I haven't moved up to airbrushing yet and with no decent place to paint, have been working with mostly flats anyway. So as I improve, this may change.
  5. Some info on the Italia for folks like me, unfamiliar with this car. Check out page two, it has some good interior pics. Ken, the couple of sources I've checked says this car was built on the Hudson Jet chassis, if that helps you. That interior is something else. The seats look like they are three separate cushions, alas more work for you. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1954-1955-hudson-italia.htm http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z11671/Hudson-Italia.aspx
  6. Yep, I'm enjoying this.
  7. The Revell '64 with only a wheel/tire change. and the Monogram '69, an ultra-rare (for me) box stock build.
  8. Looks interesting. Looking forward to more.
  9. Thanks for the reply Ken. That's one of the great things about this hobby. Like minded folks doing things in a hundred different ways. I'll be following your progress. BTW, what sort of research material are you using for this? Manufacturers specs or are you just winging this by eye?
  10. And a carson top!
  11. Wow. Color me impressed. A very neat idea and an excellent execution. You really need to get those tires good and scuffed up so they don't stand oput against the rest of the weathering. Steel wool maybe?
  12. Okay Ken. I gotta ask this. And PLEASE do not take this as a bash, because I certainly don't mean it to be. I have nothing but respect for you and the astounding work you do. Why do you scratchbuild everything? I mean, while impressive, your wheels and tires are not nearly as well done as whats available in kits or aftermarket. The time saved alone would make it worthwhile. Why, since you are assuming chassis design, don't you just use one from a kit with a similar wheelbase and chassis design? I can understand the sense of pride, of saying "Yep, I built that from just some plastic sheets and tube stock." But the bodies and interiors ALONE are so impressive that NO ONE would fault you from doing some kitbashing to help move things along and onto the next project. There are so many projects I want to accomplish as a modeler and only so many days allowed on this planet. If I can make "this" work by using "this" to help move it along, I certainly will. We obviously have two different work styles and ethics even. Looking forward to your reply.
  13. Very cool. This is really the sort of stuff I dig.
  14. Guys, I found a rather novel way of finding cheap kits. I made my screen saver at work from pics of my own models and a few of my favorites from other builders. Lots of folks pass my cubicle. Occasionally someone will poke their head in - "Hey are those models? I used to do those when I was a kid. I still have a whole shelf full, etc, etc." I came to work one Monday to find a kit on my desk. No note, no email, just dropped on my doorstep like an orphan. I have made trades and sales from guys here at work. A lot of folks just want them out of the garage. I got a Monogram Superbird and a Revell Dick Landy '68 Charger for $5. Let people know what you do, and they will come to you.
  15. Very cool. Looking forward to more.
  16. Thanks for the pics Doc. Looks like a good time was had by all.
  17. The ones I have found from furnaces and AC air handlers are generally very large and wired for 220VAC. I'd like more info on the ones you got.
  18. FANTASTIC! I love it!
  19. Looks great, how'd you do it?
  20. I already had a pic from when i built one. I'll admit this is a tough one to do well. I don't have any pics of mine or recall doing the dash. I'd recommend some careful detailing with a brush or a fine point silver Sharpie.
  21. Yes. Absolutely. I have 60 kits, a fairly small collection compared to some here. However it comes down to what-would-you-rather-build. Would you rather build yet another version of a 40 year old tooling that has been reissued twenty times and everyone has seen done any one of a thousand ways, or get in on a brand new, fresh and exceptionally well engineered model (hopefully) which you can build in your own unique way and sort of put your own stamp on it?
  22. I think between Chuck and Cranky, we'll be well on our way to that goal. Guys this has been a great read. See we can all be adults.
  23. AMT '34 Ford Revell '50 Ford MPC Datsun
  24. If I can string a couple of free hours together, I'm get some work done tomorrow. Too much workin'.
