  1. Whoo......I'll be looking forward to this. I've always wanted to do a figurine.
  2. Curtis, the Stude is also my entry in the Cannonball CBP on another forum and it's due by Dec 1. So at this moment it is my ONLY priority. Here's where i am now. Corvette stinger hood scoop. '68 Corvette running gear and 427 engine. She's in primer right now, with a little sanding still to be done to make the hood scoop look like it was supposed to be there.
  3. Real nice. The wood is a nice touch and great detailing.
  4. Welcome everyone to the Back on the Bench CBP aka The BOB Project aka Too Many Projects Anonymous! The goal here is to get that long languishing project off the shelf and back on it's way to the "On the Shelf" section. It doesn't matter whether it's been sitting for a few months or since the Nixon administration. This CBP is open to ANY kind of model, built any way you want. Military, trucks, mecha............whatever. It doesn't matter whether the project needs one more part added or one thousand. There are no rules, no addendums, no fine print. No end date. The whole idea here is to get the model back on the work bench and get motivated on it again. For me at least, sometimes it's a creative or mechanical block/issue that puts the model on the shelf. This is where you can ask and get feedback to hopefully get those issues resolved and get cranking (or Crankying) again. Being in a CBP always helps keep me motivated because I've other people involved, wanting to see the final product. No permission of any sort is required for this CBP, just post up some pics and get to it. We're glad to have you. It's time to go through the collection and make a list of the WIP builds collecting dust and make a priority list. Here's mine. I intend to finish all before starting anything new, so with the new Hudson and 48 Ford in my sights that's some good motivation. Here's my list. AMT '53 Stude Carrera Panamericana racer AMT 49/50 Ford custom Revell '49 Merc (pirate theme build) AMT '57 Ford Fairlane convertible (resto-mod) Revell '65 Mustang Fastback pro-tourer AMT '69 Riviera lowrider Custom Predicta-Black Force Batmobile
  5. Okay I figure we got enough to get started. Gonna lock this thread and start the actual CBP. BOB project?
  6. Cloth tape or that patterned plastic stuff? I tried the plastic stuff, it looked great until it started to unravel.
  7. LOL. Never mind then. Nothing important.
  8. I'd let it go Chuck. He's got it in his head that only something rusty and unsafe/badly built is a rat rod and he's not gonna come around to our definition.
  9. Chevy did make a 396 stroker small block. Google it.
  10. Sounds good Chuck. I'll leave this thread open until tomorrow and then I'll lock it and start a full CBP thread and post up the rules (or lack thereof).
  11. Very true. I can't abide that myself.
  12. Wow. Color me impressed. Looks "real" nice.
  13. Yeah, I don't care if its a plane, tank, mecha or a figurine, just any old stalled project. Now we need a clever name for this CBP.
  14. LOL. I think we're gonna just have to agree to disagree on this. And thanks.
  15. I agree completely. The only thing we disagree on is your definition of rat rod. Simple as that. I have built models with rust on them and will continue to do so, because I enjoy it from an artists perspective. Would I have a 1:1 rod with any? Not on your life.
  16. All excellent points Jim.
  17. Chuck, this is just for fun and motivation. If someone jumps in with a week old build I'm really not that concerned with it. For the most part people with shelved projects will be joining us and that is the point. So yeah, we'll just use Scout's Honor.
  18. It's been done. And DD, clean out yer inbox, I'm trying to send you something.
  19. Sorry DD, I just hate the overall look of that wicked camber. I can understand it might have it's uses on a race car, but on a street car...........it's just silly. But it's just my opinion.
  20. Brad, if you reread what Cranky wrote, I don't believe he was suggesting Billy Lane built "rats", just that he was innovative and built with his own sense of style.
  21. This was painted with the Duplicolor engine orange with no issues. I hit it with matte clear after.
  22. Save us from anyone that refers to themselves as "true" anything. It just speaks of narrow mindedness.
  23. Okay, my advice to you is start slowly when it comes to detailing. Start with spark plug wiring and maybe some battery cables. Try 30 gauge wrapping wire from Radio Shack or get a pre-made/wired distributor from a company like Parts By Parks. A Google search will easily find a website that sells their stuff. I wouldn't worry about firing order because 99% of people who see your model won't know what it is anyway. Find some good pics as reference. I'm no expert at airbrushing, but I've read the rule of thumb on thinning is to the consistency of milk.
  24. LOL, yeah try having a discussion about rat rods on the HAMB forum. They'll run you outa town on a rail.
