  1. Hey that does looks pretty cool.
  2. Unfortunately this is Duplicolor rattle cans. Roger you may be right. I'll take some 2000 grit to it tonight and see what happens.
  3. So mask off the seam. Sand it down. Primer. Feather the masked edges and reshoot? I'll give it a try. What's the worst that can happen?
  4. Slant. I'm going to have to sand down the plastic to get rid of that seam. The odds of spot primering and painting and have it still look good are long. I'd rather not meet the deadline on the Cannonball (and lets face it, with Carrera Panamericana livery it's not gonna be very Cannonball-ish anyway) and have it ready for contest in February.
  5. Thanks guys. I'm going to sand down to primer in a few spots and then into the dip it goes. It's going to eat that aluminum screen and body filler too so I'm at step one on the body work again. Yay.
  6. Now theres something you don't see every day.
  7. I have something similar on the drawing board. I'll be paying close attention here. Great use of those monster truck engines too.
  8. That's just perfect. I love it. Marvelous job.
  9. I have had an unexpected setback on the painting front. So far so good right? I love the color. My lack of a paint booth or decent place to paint bites me once again, some sort of wind borne fiber got into the paint here. And then I saw this. *facepalm* I don't know how I could have missed it, but I sure did. So she's likely gonna end up in the purple pond, and this is lacquer so will likely take a while. Part of me says screw it and just finish the build, but I'd like for this to see a contest table or two, and there's no way I'd be happy doing that as is. One step forward and two back.
  10. You guys are killing me. I'm getting hammered at work and haven't been able to get to the bench. MY goal is this weekend for paint on the Stude. I also need to get some PE safety belt hardware to finish the interior.
  11. I have a pro-touring '65 2+2 Mustang in the works, I'll be getting too very shortly. I'll happily get involved here. And yeah, I'm not using those wheels.
  12. The roof is an EXCELLENT touch!
  13. I've done that before too and other stuff equally sneaky. And you are right, it's just plastic. After a couple shows, it will just sit on my shelf anyway. Here is the Corvette suspension spliced into the Stude chassis. I wasn't trying for low-rider low, but I think i got sports car low pretty well.
  14. Looks great. It has an excellent authentic look.
  15. Par that looks great. I've recently been working on a '53 Stude and I'd like to know what you did to get the front end so low. I ended up adding the subframe from a '68 Vette on mine. The kit suspension/chassis is near impossible to lower.
  16. I'm eventually gonna do something like that Mercman. I found this, gotta do it.
  17. Shawn there is no start date and no end date. You can join anytime and I'll keep it running until Gregg says "enough". I can scratch this one off my list - "Revell SSR post-apoc. desert runner". My sixteen year old son wants to build a zombie apocalypse car and when I showed him the SSR he said "perfect!". So now it's his problem. I'm kind of glad because I really wasn't that jazzed on the project anyway. ONWARD!
  18. Safety wire! Brilliant!
  19. The show had 27 entrants I think with a total of 198 builds. I had a good time, but I'm not a fan of popular vote judging.
  20. I just acquired the 1/25 Revell coupe in a trade for a number of kits. I think it's going to end up as some sort of rat like Chuck did.
  21. Next year or bust!
  22. Wow. Beautiful work. I think you and Harry will have lots to talk about.
  23. You have my attention.
  24. Love it. I'm gonna have to get this kit.
