  1. For those who have a serious mad-on about the no-shiney paint rule need to do a bit of Googlish research on suede rods. There are a whole lot more options than just primer grey, flat black and red oxide.
  2. I'll have to wait until next year I'm affraid. Also I can't tell you the last time I built a model in two months. I look forward to checking this out.
  3. I think you managed to take the best features of all three cars and bring them together superbly. Well done.
  4. YEAH! Smokin' paint work.
  5. Buba, this is not the first time the folks here have made their feelings known about your posts. Still you make no effort to improve. If you are able to use a PC to find this forum and participate, you are more than capable of using a spell check/ grammar checker. Several browsers have one built in so that it will check your spelling anywhere you are typing. I belive that you do have a learning disability. I also believe that you have a lazy streak a mile wide and could really care less that we cannot read what you post. But yet you want to post and participate. So you can either take steps to improve your communication skills or live with the fact that the people that can help you improve your skills and trade with you, have you on an "ignore" list. Simple really. Wouldn't it be great never to have this issue come up again?
  6. Fred has reportedly retired. However he still has product available as Harry pointed out. Good luck finding what you need. Hopefully Fred will sell his equipment and screens to someone who will make good use of them someday.
  7. Yeah this has been brought up to Buba in the past, along with ways he could easily fix the issue, but he sees no need to put any effort into making his posts more easily read. For a 40 year old, I'd expect better.
  8. YEAH! BIggC I remember you posting this on LiL. It looks fantastic! The 1/32 mini guns look real good. All in all, a spot on replica.
  9. Try the tires off some of the donk kits?
  10. WOW! I like this very much. The screen doors and top are inspired.
  11. Great work. There are features I like and others I don't but the workmanship is top notch.
  12. After seeing Space Cowboy turn a fox bodied Mustang into a Dodge Diplomat 4dr, I'll believe anything is possible with enough styrene, putty and stick-to-it-iveness. Keep on going, I can't wait to see your work continue. Great work so far.
  13. Fantastic looking model. Great paint and workmanship. You should be proud of this.
  14. I think Harry is right about the ban stick being used as a last resort. It was used frequently for first time offenses back on that other forum, the one that is like a ghost town now. It didn't work out so well. I think we have a great range of builders in both skill level and age. Any time you have that range you're eventually gonna have problems. However, Harry dealt with it quickly and decisively, with the appropriate level of admin a-whoopin'. As for the ignore function, I haven't used it, for fear that the person who irritates me today, tomorrow will have something useful to say. Nuff said.
  15. Man did someone put us on a please-spam-this forum list or something? Perhaps putting a waiting period for posting after sign up might cut down on this problem?
  16. With Halloween coming up and the TV full of horror/monster flicks, I'm very inspired. But alas no place or time to build right now. However I'm just tossing the idea of a Halloween themed CBP out there and see if anyone is interested for next Halloween. I figure to start the CBP about 6 months prior to Oct. 31, and have a big reveal on Halloween. Just about any scale auto with a horror/gothic/dark theme would be fine I think. Add a reply if this is something you might be interested in. Thanks.
  17. This one is my peeve as well. I hate decals that are long enough to cross a door line but dont break for the door crease. A decal that runs the legth of a 2-door should be in at least three parts - front fender - door - rear fender. I hate having to slice the decal after it has set up and then having to add setting solution to the area, so the cut ends will dip into the door crease. Grr. The 69 GTO Judge drove me up a wall this way. Another peeve is tires in a muscle car kit where the tread face is concave and not flat. Older Revell kits are terrible for this. Chrome air grabbers/scoops in two clamshell parts. This makes me insanely angry. Near impossible to make authentic looking, keeping the kit chrome. Chrome parts that should be aluminum or steel. Ejector pin marks in hard/impossible to sand areas. warpage And I have to agree with Davezinn, on his issue of new modelers who jump into advanced techniques expecting experienced results without having learned the basics. Learn how to build a clean model, then start with some kit bashing and then move into the tough stuff. As with any skill, there must be a learning curve. My 16 yr old son is dealing with this disappointment now. "Why doesn't mine look like Dad's?" And my advice of , take your time, learn to build cleanly first, seems to just fill him with anger as if I'm trying to hold him back. *sigh*
  18. Looks great. I'll be there next year for sure!
  19. Very nice. The layered decals makes a nice effect. Good work.
  20. I've been looking forwar to this. I'm sure it's gonna be great. My only issue with the origianal car is the color. Are you sure you're gonna paint it white? I hate white.
  21. Hmm......the blue is ahead. Unexpected this is yes.
  22. Madness. Sheer madness.
  23. Guys I appreciate the feed back. My thoughts on the rust subject. I'm all for weathered rides, but if I was gonna gather a bunch of junkyard parts and make a hot rod, every part would be cleaned, repaired, repainted and added to the car. This is my "theme" for this build. If you notice, most every build I have done lately has one. This modern trend of rat rods that purposely feature rusty parts when the car is built, confuses me and totally goes against my grain. Now on the other hand a great weathered, rusty survivor is another story. My next build will be another junker but this one will be a 40 year old parts runner. I'll be using the Cranky/Ryan Silva weathering techniques. I do like the almond and olive idea, though. I'm gonna give it some thought.
  24. Thanks Dano. I hope to see you. The last time is was in the contest at the fairgrounds was '91 when the Suncoast Model Car Club put it on. Glad to see the tradition continues. This year will probably not see me. We'll be moving during that time frame, and I start my new job on the 12th. If I menton the car show to my wife it's a quarantee that I'll get her patented WTF look. But I'll be contacting MAGS soon. Thanks for the link.
  25. Wow. What a crazy coincidence. 1. New member finds my post 2. knows the guy 3. and I was planning on contacting MAGS anyway as I'm moving back into the Tampa Area. Funny how life works sometimes no? Thanks very much for this information.
