  1. The 66/67 Charger is my favorite of all muscle cars, so I'll be looking forward to seeing this come together.
  2. I like where you're going with this. It probably would have been better to remove the paint on it before splinging the putty. Also I'm not real sure about the diving board out back. Keep on going, I'm very curious to see where this goes from here.

    "Misfit"

Looks period perfect. Great paint and attention to detail.
  4. Is there a thread on this or what?
  5. Wow. This is right up my alley. But I'm just not in a good building place right now. I'll be watching though with interest.
  6. I also think that the manufacturers have realized the folly of their ways. We haven't seen this much lately. If anything they try to put things right. The Donk kits for instance. Trendy? You bet. But the stock parts are still there. The same with pro-street versions of popular kits. Revells 67 Chevelle and AMTs 70 Superbee and 66 Nova. And lets face it a lot of kits of the past were junk without ever being retooled. The 70's Revell IMSA kits. Remember the Mustang II and the Monza that shared interiors, chassis and drivetrain? I don't worry to much about the old kits. The future looks great if what the companies are releasing now is any indication. Long live scale auto modeling.
  7. I haven't ever build one like that as there are a lot of nice ones available in the aftermarket. I did do this one.
  8. "Seems this is a place full of old men who're masters of their craft in this hobby." This is very true. In my opinion, of all the model forums out there this one has the largest body of NNL level builders. These are same guys that are taking the time to do how-to's & tutorials and other posts on improving our work. They are trying to pass on their expertise, to make sure there are still NNL's in 50 years. I think you should feel lucky that someone took the time to fully look at and critique your work. Or would you rather have 50 people who looked at your stuff, found one thing they liked about it, and just commented on it? Or worse yet, applied Thumper's mom's rule and said nothing at all cuz they had nothing nice to say. Of all things that can happen when you post on a forum being ignored is the worst. I see this on so many forums, where a beginner posts up his stuff and - no - one - says - a - thing. Talk about a confidence crusher. Could the critique have been worded better? Perhaps. But often lessons in life learned harshly are ones we remember. Put your injured pride on the shelf, re-read the critique and learn from it. That's the only way we improve in our work.
  9. Is it available in the gallon like the purple stuff?
  10. Great work. Add a piece of clear packing tape over the printed licence plates and it'll give it a glossy reflective quality.

    GTO

I did something similar a couple years ago with the AMT Black Cat Cougar. I really like your GTO. I have something similar planned using the Monogram 69 GTO and the engine/drivetrain of the Revell 98 Firebird kit.
  12. Yeah, I'm liking where this is going.
  13. totally fubar

  14. Another horror story. On trip to my local hobby shop I spotted a fellow in a full hip to toe cast speaking to the manager. When I was checking out I'd asked him what hapened to his friend. He said that he'd been using his old metal cased shop vac as exhaust for his spray booth. When the canister blew, it broke his femur, destroyed his knee and get this..........ruptured his testicle. I have seen some squirrel cage style fans at my local used appliance store (from AC units) where the motor is out of the air stream. I was going to see of I can get one of those on the cheap and see how that works out. Opinions?
  15. Nick, all I've got to say say on the subject is that you are a better builder at 15 than I was. It took me many years to figure out that slow and steady to win the race. After reading the posts in the Pontiac thread I've realized two things. 1. Some people have forgotten what it is to be 15 and don't remember how their mind works (that isn't a bash btw). 2. It is near impossible to translate intent and mood in a text based forum. Things that are meant as helpful critique end up as harassment and a joke ends up hurting feelings. Be cool.
  16. I really wanna see more. Please keep this going. Good work.
  17. Off to a great start. Looking forward to more.
  18. I'm going to really enjoy seeing all this fantastic art come to life.
  19. You've got my attention. Can't wait to see more. I have something similar planned for the Deora.
  20. As a veteran, I say thank you for serving. Best of luck to you.
  21. From what I found with a simple Google search was that Xmods are 1/28 scale, which makes then smaller than your average 1/24 or 1/25 scale kit. I really think the manufacturer shot themselves in the foot by not having a similar scale, but what do I know about business right? As far as using your model parts on them or vice versa, if it looks good to you - do it.
  22. Okay, I finally have pics. Alert the media. The front bumper area is the only 1:1 fiberglass/plastic part that I'm keeping on the car, but as you can see it'll be a bit tattered. I'm looking forward to weathering this. More soon.
  23. Okay the SSRvivor is in progress. I'm taking photos but can't upload them until cable/internet is hooked up at the house.
